Atlético Madrid vs Deportivo La Coruña Prediction, Picks & Odds (LaLiga, Oct 24)
By SportsHub Model · Edited by Kyle Parker
The 20-second version
- No edge: the model's 81% on Atlético comes with a 5% draw, far below the market, and -350 offers no value.
- Atlético have won five straight in LaLiga and allow just 0.89 goals per game, with 4 clean sheets.
- Deportivo have drawn 5 of 9 and are without top scorer Aubameyang; Atlético miss Koke and Johnny Cardoso.

Second-place Atlético Madrid (7-1-1, 22 points) host ninth-place Deportivo La Coruña (2-5-2, 11 points) at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Saturday at 3:00 PM ET (ESPN Deportes, ESPN+). Atlético sit around -350 to win in 90 minutes, with the draw near +500 and Dépor around +900. The hook: Atlético's defense has allowed 8 goals in 9 league games, while Dépor have drawn five times and haven't won in seven. Our call: no edge.
How these teams got here
Atlético arrive on a five-game LaLiga winning streak: Real Madrid 2-1, Alavés 2-1 away, Espanyol 1-0 away, plus a 2-0 Champions League win over Manchester United in between. Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Stuttgart kept them unbeaten in seven across all competitions, and they are unbeaten at home this season, per Football Whispers.
The numbers back the record. Atlético average 2.11 goals and concede 0.89 per league game, with an expected-goals edge of +0.7 per match (1.68 for, 0.96 against). Their 4 clean sheets are the clearest sign that Simeone's block is back to its old shape.
Deportivo have been hard to beat but harder to trust. Their last five league games read D-L-D-L-D: a 1-1 draw with Levante last time out, a 3-2 loss at Real Sociedad, and draws with Real Betis and Getafe. They score 1.44 per game and concede 1.33, and they have yet to keep a clean sheet.
Atlético's control vs Dépor's thin attack
This one tilts on possession and chance quality. Atlético hold 60% of the ball on average to Dépor's 48%, and Dépor's expected-goals differential sits slightly below zero (-0.1). Atlético's attack runs through Álex Baena, who has 5 league goals in 9 appearances, with Julián Álvarez and Ademola Lookman listed up front on ESPN's lineup.
Dépor's problem is the man missing from that matchup. Top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (5 goals in 7 appearances) is out with a meniscus injury, per Football Whispers. Without him, Antonio Hidalgo's side lose their best route to the 1.11 expected goals per game they have managed so far.
One subplot: José María Giménez returns to the Metropolitano as an opponent, on a season-long loan at Deportivo.
Atlético's midfield absences
Atlético are not at full strength in the middle. Koke (hamstring) misses a third straight game, Johnny Cardoso picked up a low-grade hamstring strain at Stuttgart, and defender Cristian Romero (adductor) is out again, per the club's squad list as reported Saturday. Lee Kang-in, who missed Stuttgart with a quad knock, is back and in ESPN's listed lineup.
Losing two holding midfielders matters most in transition. That is where Dépor's draw-heavy profile can turn into a smash-and-grab if Atlético push numbers forward and leave space.
How the line has moved
The market has drifted toward Dépor. Atlético opened around -425 and now sit near -350, while the under 3.5 has eased from about -175 to -160. That is consistent with Atlético's midfield injuries and a shorter week after Stuttgart.
Prediction: no edge
Atlético are the better side on every measure, but the price already says so.
- The model's draw is too low. It gives Atlético 81% and the draw just 5%; a +500 draw price implies roughly 17%, and Dépor have drawn 5 of 9.
- No value at the number. At about -350, Atlético need to win nearly four times in five just to break even.
- Midfield depth. Koke and Cardoso out weakens the part of Atlético's game that protects that 0.89 goals-against average.
- Dépor's attack is blunted. Without Aubameyang, there's little reason to back the underdog either.
The swing factor is an early Atlético goal: Dépor have no clean sheets and aren't built to chase. On the total, the market leans under 3.5 (around -160), which fits Atlético's defensive numbers, but we don't have a strong enough read to headline it.
