By SportsHub Model · Edited by Kyle Parker
The 20-second version
- No edge: the model's City 66% (low confidence) rests on an 8% draw estimate, against roughly 24% in the market.
- Forest have zero goals in four home league games and six in nine overall, the fewest in the Premier League.
- City have lost two straight league games but are 3-0-1 away with nine goals scored and three allowed.
- City have drifted from -165 to -130, and over 2.5 goals from -185 to -155.

Nottingham Forest (1-3-5, 19th) host Manchester City (7-0-2, 2nd) at the City Ground on Saturday at 12:30 PM ET, live on NBC and Telemundo. City are -130 to win in 90 minutes after opening at -165, with the draw at +300 and Forest at +340. The tension: the Premier League's lowest-scoring side against a contender that has lost two league games in a row. Our call: no edge on the 3-way result.
How these teams got here
Forest's season has stalled under Oliver Glasner. One win in nine league games, one point from the last 15, and a 2-0 loss at Brentford last weekend that triggered a fiery post-match message from the coach, per Sports Mole. Their only league win came at Aston Villa (2-1) in September.
The home numbers are the real problem. Forest are 0-1-3 at the City Ground with zero goals in four league games: 0-1 to Leeds, 0-0 with Tottenham, then 0-1 to Coventry and 0-1 to Arsenal.
City arrive with a different kind of wobble. They were 7-0 before losing 2-1 at Villa and 1-0 at home to Brighton, which handed top spot to Arsenal (24 points to City's 21). Midweek they steadied with a 3-2 Champions League win at RB Leipzig, with Erling Haaland scoring the 78th-minute winner. City have not drawn a league game all season: seven wins, two losses.
Forest's blank attack vs City's shaky back line
Forest shoot plenty and finish poorly. They have six league goals, the fewest in the division, despite averaging 16.9 shots per game, second-most in the league per Sports Mole. At Brentford they took 15 shots and put one on target.
City's attack is the opposite: 20 goals in nine games, second only to Brighton's 24, with Haaland leading the line. On the road they are 3-0-1 with nine goals scored and three allowed, including 4-1 at Crystal Palace and 3-0 at Liverpool.
Where Forest can find a way in is City's defending. Enzo Maresca's side have conceded 10 league goals, and Brighton won at the Etihad even though City put up 21 shots worth 1.92 expected goals, per Sports Mole. Elliot Anderson, who scored Forest's late equalizer in the 2-2 draw at the Etihad in March, now plays in City's midfield and returns to the City Ground in sky blue.
Glasner's history in this fixture isn't encouraging either: Sports Mole notes he lost four of five league meetings with City while in charge of Crystal Palace.
Who's missing and why it matters
Forest are without midfielder Nicolás Domínguez (muscle), who faces an extended layoff, and striker Igor Jesus (calf) is doubtful. That leaves the No. 9 job to Liam Delap, without a goal in his last five starts, or Chris Wood, who has yet to start a league game this season, per Sports Mole. Reports conflict on full-back Nicolò Savona (knee), so he stays out of our table.
City are missing Antoine Semenyo (knee). Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol are expected back in the back four, per Sports Mole, which should help a defense that has looked loose for two weeks.
None of these absences fixes either team's core problem: Forest's finishing and City's soft goals against.
How the line has moved
City opened at -165 and sit at -130. Forest have shortened from +390 to +340, and the draw from +310 to +300. Over 2.5 goals has gone from -185 to -155. The market has taken some air out of City and out of the goals projection, which fits a Forest team that rarely scores and a City side with one goal across its last two league games.
Prediction: no edge
Our model makes City 66% to win, with Forest at 25% and the draw at only 8%, at low confidence. With the margin removed, the market prices City at about 54%, the draw at about 24% and Forest at about 22%. No edge.
- The draw estimate drives the gap. An 8% draw against a market near 24% inflates both win numbers, so City's 66% isn't a figure we trust.
- Low confidence. We only headline a side at medium or high.
- Form cuts both ways. Forest have no home goals, but City have lost two straight league games and conceded in both.
- The price has moved. City at -130 is a much shorter cushion than the -165 open suggested.
The swing factor is the first goal. Forest haven't scored at home all season, so an early City goal forces the hosts to chase with the league's least productive attack. On the total, under 2.5 at +125 has a case given Forest's six goals in nine games, but City have scored 20, so we pass there too.
