Panthers vs Red Wings Prediction, Picks & Odds (Nov. 2, 2026)
By SportsHub Model · Edited by Kyle Parker
The 20-second version
- No edge: the model gives Florida 63%, while the -175 to -189 moneyline already implies 63.6% to 65.4%.
- Florida's power play (24.2%, 9th) faces Detroit's penalty kill (68.9%, 27th), the biggest gap in the matchup.
- Detroit plays without Dylan Larkin (suspended Oct. 29); Florida is still missing Barkov, Marchand and Markstrom.
- Starting goalies were unconfirmed Monday morning: Schmid (.889) for Florida, Tarasov (.940 in 4 games) or Gibson (.860) for Detroit.

The Florida Panthers (8-4-2) host the Detroit Red Wings (6-5-3) on Monday at 7:00 PM ET at Amerant Bank Arena, on Scripps Sports in the Florida market and Detroit SportsNet in Detroit. Florida is -175 to -189 on the moneyline across licensed books. Both teams are missing a franchise center: Aleksander Barkov is hurt, and Dylan Larkin has been suspended after refusing to play for Detroit. Our call is no edge, because the model's 63% for Florida doesn't beat that price.
How these teams got here
Florida has won three straight and scored 13 goals doing it: 3-2 at Chicago, 5-1 at Winnipeg and 5-2 over the Jets at home on Oct. 30. That run followed a 5-1 loss in Ottawa and a 4-0 shutout in Pittsburgh, so this group has swung hard both ways. The Panthers are 3-1-0 at home and come in on three days' rest.
Detroit's season has been stuck in neutral. The Wings are 6-5-3, 5-2-3 in their last 10, and four of their 14 games have gone to a shootout (2-2). They split the weekend homestand, beating Chicago 4-1 behind Viktor Arvidsson's hat trick and then losing 5-4 to St. Louis on Saturday afternoon. Monday is also the first half of a back-to-back, with a game in Tampa on Tuesday.
Special teams are the mismatch
Florida's power play converts at 24.2% (9th in the NHL). Detroit's penalty kill sits at 68.9% (27th). That's the biggest gap on the board. Sam Reinhart has scored six of his seven goals on the power play, and Carter Verhaeghe has four more. Matthew Tkachuk leads the team with 20 points (4 goals, 16 assists), with Seth Jones at 18 and Brady Tkachuk at 8 goals.
The shot share is closer than the price suggests. Detroit takes 29.7 shots a game (7th) and allows 24.4 (4th). Florida's numbers are 28.9 (9th) and 24.1 (3rd). Alex DeBrincat (15 points), Arvidsson (8 goals, 4 on the power play) and Lucas Raymond (14 points) carry the Wings' offense.
In net, Daily Faceoff projects Akira Schmid for Florida, unconfirmed. He is 5-2-1 with a 2.86 GAA and .889 save percentage and has won his last three starts. Daily Faceoff lists Daniil Tarasov for Detroit, also unconfirmed. He is 1-0-2 with a 1.40 GAA and .940 in four appearances. John Gibson started the last two games and sits at .860 over 10 starts, after stopping 10 of 15 shots against the Blues. Which Detroit goalie starts tonight is the biggest unknown of the day.
Larkin's walkout and Florida's missing stars
Detroit suspended Larkin without pay on Oct. 29 after his agent told the team he would no longer play for the Red Wings. Larkin had 2 goals and 6 points in 10 games. Marco Kasper and Mason Appleton are on injured reserve, and coach Todd McLellan put both 10 days to two weeks away. Defenseman Albert Johansson is day-to-day, and Simon Edvinsson remains on the non-roster list in a contract dispute. The Wings' center depth is thin.
Florida has its own holes. Barkov (lower body) and Brad Marchand (leg) are both on injured reserve. Paul Maurice said on Oct. 29 that they had resumed skating, putting Barkov about four weeks out and Marchand about three. Jacob Markstrom (upper body) is also on IR, which is why Schmid has carried the crease. The Panthers' 13 goals in three games came without all three.
Prediction: no edge on Panthers vs Red Wings
No edge. Florida is the better team tonight, but the price already says so:
- The model has Florida at 63%. The licensed moneyline of -175 to -189 implies 63.6% to 65.4%, so the model doesn't beat the market.
- The power-play mismatch is real. Florida's 24.2% against Detroit's 68.9% penalty kill is the Panthers' clearest path to a win.
- The shot numbers are close. Detroit's 29.7 shots for and 24.4 against are in Florida's range, which keeps a 2-1 or 3-2 game live.
- The goalie is a coin flip. Tarasov's .940 comes in four games, while Gibson is at .860, and neither starter was confirmed this morning.
The swing factor is penalties. If Detroit stays out of the box, this looks like the one-goal and shootout games the Wings keep playing. If not, Florida's power play can put it away.
On the total, most books sit at 5.5 with the over juiced to -125 to -137, and a couple are at 6. Detroit's leaky kill and Florida's recent scoring point up, but both teams allow about 24 shots a game. We don't have a strong lean either way.
