Chicago Fire vs Atlanta United Prediction, Picks & Odds (Oct. 24, 2026)
By SportsHub Model · Edited by Kyle Parker
The 20-second version
- No edge: the model has Chicago at 49% but with very low confidence, and it prices the draw at 18% vs. roughly 25% in the market.
- Chicago is 4th in the East (48 pts, +8 GD); Atlanta is 14th (30 pts, -14 GD).
- Chicago has lost two straight; Atlanta lost 3-1 at home to Inter Miami last time out.
- Chicago won the April 11 meeting 1-0 on a Maren Haile-Selassie goal.

The Chicago Fire (14-6-10, 48 points, 4th in the East) visit Atlanta United (8-6-16, 30 points, 14th) on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, streaming on Apple TV. Licensed books have Chicago at +135 to +145, Atlanta at +150 to +160 and the draw at +270 to +290. The table says Chicago by a mile; the price says coin flip. Our call: no edge. The model favors Chicago, but at very low confidence.
How these teams got here
Chicago has been one of the East's more productive sides all year: 52 goals scored, 44 allowed, +8 goal difference through 30 matches. The Fire strung together three straight wins (1-0 over Charlotte, 3-1 over Vancouver, 2-1 over NYCFC) before stalling with a 3-1 loss to Philadelphia and a 0-1 loss to New England on Oct. 17. Two straight defeats with the seeding race this tight is exactly the wrong time to slip.
Atlanta's season has gone sideways. The Five Stripes sit 14th with 37 goals scored and 51 allowed (-14), and their last five read like a coin toss: a 1-0 win over Portland, a 2-2 draw with NYCFC, a 3-1 loss to Cincinnati, a 3-0 win over Montréal and a 3-1 home loss to Inter Miami on Oct. 17. At 30 points, Atlanta is six points behind the Red Bulls and Toronto (36) for ninth, the last Wild Card spot, with four games left.
Chicago's attack vs. Atlanta's back line
This is where the gap shows. Chicago scores 1.73 goals per game; Atlanta concedes 1.70. Maren Haile-Selassie is the hot hand, scoring against Vancouver, NYCFC and Philadelphia in the Fire's last four matches. He also scored the only goal in the 1-0 Chicago win on April 11, in the 13th minute.
Atlanta's problem is at the other end: 1.23 goals per game, second-fewest in the East ahead of only Montréal. Aleksei Miranchuk led the club with six MLS goals as of mid-October, and Miguel Almirón has found the net against Cincinnati and Montréal in two of the last three. Tata Martino's side can create in bursts, but 51 goals allowed tells the story at the back.
Among our soccer handicappers, Tyler Williams has gone 31-26 (+$629, 9.4% ROI) on his soccer picks over the last 30 days.
Lineups and the seeding stakes
No official availability report for this match was out when we checked, so we're not listing statuses. Check the Saturday lineups before kickoff.
The stakes are lopsided. Decision Day is Nov. 7, and seeds 1 through 7 in each conference go straight to the best-of-three Round One, where the higher seed hosts Games 1 and 3. Chicago sits 4th at 48, one point ahead of Charlotte (47) and two ahead of Philadelphia (46), four behind New England (52) in third. Every point decides who gets home field. Atlanta is playing for pride and a long shot at ninth. Both teams turn around and play again midweek, on Oct. 28.
Prediction: no edge on Chicago vs. Atlanta
The model makes Chicago a 49% winner, Atlanta 33% and the draw 18%. Strip the margin out of the licensed prices and the market is closer to 39% Chicago, 37% Atlanta, 25% draw. On paper that's a gap in Chicago's favor, but we're not headlining it:
- Confidence is very low. The model doesn't stand behind its own number here.
- The draw looks underpriced by the model. An 18% draw is well under the roughly 25% the +270 to +290 price implies, and that missing draw share is where most of Chicago's "edge" comes from.
- Form cuts against the Fire. Two straight losses, one goal scored across them.
- The table gap is real, 18 points and 22 goals of goal difference, which is why Chicago is still the better side on any neutral read.
The swing factor is Chicago's attack against an Atlanta defense that has allowed 51. If Haile-Selassie scores first, the Fire are good enough to manage the game; if Atlanta gets on top early at home, this turns into the kind of open game the Five Stripes have been losing all year.
On the total, books hang 3.5 with the under juiced to -135 to -145. Chicago's matches average 3.2 total goals and Atlanta's 2.9, so the under is the more natural side, but it's priced accordingly. No play.
