2027 MLB All-Star Game Predictions and Information
BySal Lombardi
The 2027 MLB All-Star Game is heading back to one of baseball's most recognizable settings.
Wrigley Field will host the 97th Midsummer Classic on Tuesday, July 13, 2027. It will be the fourth All-Star Game played at Wrigley after the 1947, 1962 and 1990 editions and the eighth hosted by the city of Chicago. Only New York has hosted more.
The location immediately creates one of the best early storylines. Pete Crow-Armstrong has developed into one of the National League's most productive all-around players for the Cubs, and he will have a realistic opportunity to start an All-Star Game in his home ballpark. Through August 19, 2026, Crow-Armstrong is hitting .282 with 31 home runs, 31 stolen bases and an OPS above .930.
Shohei Ohtani should remain one of the centerpieces of the National League roster, while Yordan Alvarez, Junior Caminero and Bobby Witt Jr. are among the strongest candidates to lead the American League. The pitching side may be even more interesting. Jacob Misiorowski has already reached 210 strikeouts with a 1.75 ERA in 2026, while Dylan Cease has surpassed 200 strikeouts for the sixth consecutive season.
The early game prediction favors the National League, with Crow-Armstrong as the early All-Star Game MVP selection. The Home Run Derby prediction is Junior Caminero if he participates, although MLB has not announced the 2027 field or confirmed whether the swing-based Derby format introduced in 2026 will remain unchanged.
The MLB betting hub provides the broader league context as the 2027 season eventually begins determining which players deserve actual All-Star selections.
2027 MLB All-Star Game Information
The most important confirmed information is already available.
| Information | 2027 MLB All-Star Game |
|---|---|
| Date | July 13, 2027 |
| Ballpark | Wrigley Field |
| Host | Chicago Cubs |
| Edition | 97th MLB All-Star Game |
Wrigley Field becoming the host is significant historically. The ballpark previously staged the event in 1947, the second All-Star Game played in 1962 and again in 1990. The American League won each of those three Wrigley Field All-Star Games.
The full All-Star Week schedule has not yet been announced. MLB has confirmed that the All-Star Game and accompanying All-Star Week events will take place in Chicago, but dates for events surrounding the main game should not be assumed until the league publishes them.
That distinction also applies to the Home Run Derby. It would normally be expected during All-Star Week, but the exact 2027 schedule and participant list remain future announcements.
How MLB All-Star Rosters Are Selected
The 2027 voting system has not yet been formally detailed, but the 2026 selection process provides the best current framework.
In 2026, fans selected the starting position players through two phases of voting. The leading overall vote getter in each league automatically secured a starting spot, while most other positions advanced to a second voting phase. Each league ultimately carried 20 position players and 12 pitchers.
Players, managers and coaches also contributed through the Player Ballot, which selected eight pitchers and a reserve at each position. The Commissioner's Office filled the remaining places while ensuring all 30 MLB clubs had at least one representative.
That system is one reason projecting a complete All-Star roster in August 2026 would create false precision. Fan voting can reward established stars, while the player ballot and league selections ensure elite performers and representatives from every club remain part of the event.
The better approach is to identify the players whose current performance and age make them especially strong candidates for another All-Star season.
Early 2027 MLB All-Star Predictions
These predictions are not projected official rosters. They identify the players with the clearest early paths to becoming central figures in Chicago.
| Market | Prediction |
|---|---|
| Game winner | National League |
| All-Star MVP | Pete Crow-Armstrong |
| NL starting pitcher | Jacob Misiorowski |
| AL starting pitcher | Dylan Cease |
| Home Run Derby | Junior Caminero |
The National League prediction is based more on projected position-player depth than on what happened in the most recent All-Star Game. The American League dominated the 2026 game 4 to 0 and produced one of the strongest pitching performances in event history, striking out 15 National League hitters while allowing only three singles.
That result does not automatically carry into 2027. All-Star rosters turn over quickly, pitchers usually work short appearances and one inning can decide the game.
The NL's early advantage comes from the possibility of combining players such as Ohtani, Crow-Armstrong, James Wood and several established power hitters with an elite pitching group led by Misiorowski. The American League can counter with Alvarez, Caminero, Witt and a deep pitching staff of its own.
The projected margin is small. An early score prediction would be National League 4, American League 3.
Pete Crow-Armstrong Is the Early All-Star MVP Prediction
Crow-Armstrong represents the most natural 2027 All-Star storyline.
The game will be played at his home ballpark, and his 2026 performance has already established him as much more than a defensive specialist. Through 127 games, he has 31 home runs, 31 stolen bases, 90 runs and a .936 OPS.
That skill set fits an All-Star Game especially well.
A player does not need four plate appearances to influence an exhibition game. Crow-Armstrong can change the score with one extra-base hit, create a run with his speed or prevent one with his defense in center field.
The MVP prediction is still highly speculative because All-Star Game playing time is limited. Cody Bellinger won the 2026 award after driving in two runs in the first inning of the American League's 4 to 0 victory, showing how quickly the award can be decided.
Crow-Armstrong therefore should not be treated as an actionable futures bet before a market even exists. He is simply the most appealing early prediction because the current performance, skill set and Wrigley Field setting all point in the same direction.
Shohei Ohtani Should Remain at the Center of the National League Lineup
Any early National League projection still begins with Ohtani.
He was the leading National League vote getter in 2026 and was elected as the starting designated hitter before being unable to participate because of injury.
His current offensive performance continues to support another selection. Through August 19, Ohtani is hitting .294 with 30 home runs and a .948 OPS.
The main uncertainty is not whether a healthy Ohtani has All-Star talent. It is how his pitching workload develops during the next year and whether that affects his availability in July.
If healthy, Ohtani should remain one of the strongest candidates to lead National League fan voting.
Yordan Alvarez Leads the Early American League Hitting Core
Alvarez is the cleanest early projection for the middle of the American League lineup.
He entered the 2026 All-Star Game as the starting designated hitter after leading MLB in OPS during the first half. His production has continued into August. Current MLB statistics show Alvarez hitting .318 with 36 home runs, 88 RBI and a 1.044 OPS.
That combination of average, power and on-base ability gives him one of the most complete offensive profiles in baseball.
Junior Caminero belongs alongside him in the projected AL core. Caminero has 35 home runs through 125 games while hitting .275 with a .901 OPS.
Bobby Witt Jr. also deserves to remain in the conversation after starting at shortstop for the American League in 2026. The final roster will obviously depend on another first half of baseball, but those players already have both current production and previous All-Star recognition working in their favor.
Readers can track individual clubs through the MLB team directory once the 2027 season begins and roster competition becomes more relevant.
Jacob Misiorowski Is the Early National League Starting Pitcher Prediction
Misiorowski is currently producing the type of season that makes another All-Star selection easy to project.
Through his current 2026 work, he is 12 and 5 with a 1.75 ERA, 210 strikeouts, a 0.75 WHIP and 139 innings. His ERA and WHIP lead the National League, and he reached 200 strikeouts in only 129 1/3 innings.
Starting an All-Star Game requires more than talent. The manager also has to consider rest schedules, recent starts and whether a pitcher is available to work on the appropriate day.
That makes naming a July 2027 starter almost a year in advance inherently uncertain.
Misiorowski is still the correct early projection because the underlying profile is built for sustained dominance. Elite velocity and strikeout production reduce his dependence on balls in play, while the current run prevention gives him more than a pure stuff argument.
If he carries anything close to the current performance into the first half of 2027, he should be one of the leading candidates to take the ball for the National League.
Dylan Cease Leads the American League Starting Pitcher Projection
Cease has already shown what an All-Star Game start looks like.
He started for the American League in 2026 and struck out three of the four hitters he faced in the opening inning. He became the first pitcher since 2006 to record three first-inning strikeouts in the All-Star Game.
His regular season performance remains equally impressive.
Cease reached 200 strikeouts on August 16, becoming only the sixth pitcher in MLB history to record at least six consecutive 200-strikeout seasons. He currently owns a 2.42 ERA with 201 strikeouts across 137 2/3 innings.
Repeating as the AL starter will be difficult because another full season separates the current race from July 2027.
The projection still makes sense because strikeouts and durability have remained unusually consistent. Cease does not need to reinvent his profile to return to the game. He needs to maintain it.
The MLB stats page will become the more useful comparison point once 2027 first-half numbers replace the current projection.
Junior Caminero Is the Early Home Run Derby Prediction
The 2027 Home Run Derby field has not been announced, so every player prediction is conditional on participation.
If Caminero enters, he is the early selection to win it.
He already participated in the 2026 Derby and owns one of the most explosive power profiles in baseball. MLB identified Caminero as the league leader in bat speed during the 2026 Derby, and he currently has 35 regular season home runs.
The Derby format also changed significantly in 2026.
MLB removed the timer and moved to a finite swing system. Players received 20 swings in the first round, then 15 in the semifinals and final. Every swing counted, although a home run on the last allotted swing allowed the hitter to continue until he failed to homer.
That format puts more emphasis on quality swings rather than simply maintaining a frantic pace for several minutes.
Caminero's bat speed makes him particularly interesting in that environment.
There is no guarantee MLB keeps the exact format in 2027, so it should not be presented as a confirmed Wrigley Field rule yet. If the format remains similar and Caminero accepts an invitation, he would be the early pick.
Jordan Walker Could Defend the Home Run Derby Title
The defending champion should remain near the top of any Derby watch list.
Jordan Walker defeated Kyle Schwarber 12 to 11 in the 2026 final after taking advantage of the rule allowing a player who homers on his final scheduled swing to continue until he misses. Walker hit six consecutive home runs to complete the comeback.
His win was not completely disconnected from regular season development. Walker had 22 home runs before the 2026 All-Star break after rebuilding his swing and developing one of MLB's fastest bats.
Participation remains the problem with every Derby projection.
Players regularly decline invitations for workload, health or personal reasons. Walker cannot be called a 2027 participant until he accepts an invitation.
If he returns, the defending champion deserves to be considered one of Caminero's primary challengers.
Wrigley Field Adds Another Variable to the Derby
The ballpark will make the 2027 event visually different from Philadelphia, but the biggest variable may not be the dimensions themselves.
Wrigley Field conditions can change with the weather, so the environment on All-Star Week will eventually become part of Derby and game analysis. That factor cannot be meaningfully projected in August 2026.
The better early approach is to focus on players who generate power without depending on one specific park characteristic.
Caminero qualifies because of the bat speed. Walker qualifies because his rebuilt swing has produced legitimate game power. Current MLB home run leaders such as Alvarez, Matt Olson and Kyle Schwarber would also demand attention if they participate. MLB's August 19 leaderboard has Schwarber at 37 homers, Alvarez and Olson at 36 and Caminero at 35.
The actual Derby recommendation should wait until the full field is announced.
The 2026 All-Star Game Provides an Important Warning
The American League's 4 to 0 victory in Philadelphia showed how little a stacked lineup can matter when elite pitching controls the game.
The NL entered with tremendous offensive talent but managed only three singles. American League pitchers struck out 15 hitters, and 10 of the 11 AL pitchers who appeared recorded at least one strikeout.
That is why an All-Star Game moneyline should not be treated like a normal MLB matchup.
A regular season handicap begins heavily with the starting pitcher because that pitcher may work six or seven innings. In the All-Star Game, even the starter is likely to make a short appearance before a succession of other elite pitchers enters.
Lineup depth matters differently too. A superstar may receive only two plate appearances before being replaced.
The consequence is increased variance. The stronger roster on paper does not have nine full innings of its best players to prove that advantage.
2027 MLB All-Star Betting Outlook
No actionable 2027 game, MVP or Home Run Derby market is being recommended this far in advance.
The reason is information, not a lack of predictions.
The National League can be the early projected winner while still being impossible to bet responsibly without knowing the roster, pitching availability and price. The same applies to Crow-Armstrong for MVP and Caminero in the Derby.
The first meaningful game market should be evaluated after the starting pitchers and most important roster availability decisions are known.
For the Home Run Derby, participant confirmation is even more important. A betting market cannot be evaluated properly when the actual eight-player field is unknown.
The baseball betting guide provides useful context for separating a prediction from a wager. A team or player can be the most likely winner without providing value at the price being offered.
For now, every 2027 All-Star betting market belongs in the monitor category.
2027 MLB All-Star Game Predictions
The National League is the early pick to win the game.
Ohtani gives the NL one of baseball's most dangerous hitters, Crow-Armstrong provides power, speed and defense, and Misiorowski gives the pitching staff a potential dominant opening option. Current National League hitters also include several of baseball's leading power threats, including Schwarber and Olson.
The American League remains close enough that this should not be framed as a strong projection. Alvarez currently owns the best OPS in MLB, Caminero has already reached 35 home runs and Cease continues to perform like one of the league's elite strikeout pitchers.
The early score prediction is NL 4, AL 3.
Crow-Armstrong is the MVP prediction because Wrigley Field creates a rare combination of home environment and legitimate star production. The award is too volatile for a wager before the market exists, but he is the most natural player to build the early prediction around.
Misiorowski is projected to start for the National League, while Cease is the early American League starting pitcher selection.
Caminero is the Home Run Derby pick if he joins the field.
2027 MLB All-Star Final Verdict
The 2027 MLB All-Star Game already has the setting required for a memorable event.
Wrigley Field will host the game on July 13, 2027, bringing the Midsummer Classic back to the ballpark for the first time since 1990.
The biggest early storyline is Crow-Armstrong. His 31 home runs, 31 stolen bases and strong overall offensive production in 2026 give him a realistic path to becoming one of the faces of the event in his own ballpark.
Ohtani remains the obvious National League superstar, while Alvarez and Caminero form the strongest early power core on the American League side. Misiorowski and Cease are the projected starting pitchers based on their current strikeout dominance.
The early prediction is National League 4, American League 3, with Crow-Armstrong winning MVP. Caminero is the Home Run Derby prediction if he participates.
None of those projections should be turned into a bet before actual 2027 markets and rosters exist. The most important future checkpoints are the first half statistics, fan voting, pitching schedules, injury availability and Derby field.
Once those variables become real rather than projected, readers can follow the latest MLB picks and predictions for updated baseball betting analysis.
