By SportsHub Model · Edited by Kyle Parker
The 20-second version
- No edge: Fenerbahce are the likelier winner, but around -172 already prices that in, and the model's 5% draw chance is far too low.
- Fenerbahce have conceded 7 goals in 2 Champions League games, including a 6-0 loss at Aston Villa.
- Slavia have 0 points and 2 goals from 2 games, but have lost only 1 of their last 7 away matches.
- The total is 3.5, and these attacks have combined for 3 goals in four Champions League games.

Two Champions League clubs still looking for a first league-phase win meet Tuesday at 12:45 p.m. ET at Şükrü Saracoğlu in Istanbul (Paramount+, ViX). Fenerbahce (0-1-1, 1 point) are coming off a 6-0 loss at Aston Villa. Slavia Praha (0-0-2, 0 points) lost to Lens and then to debutants Sabah. Fenerbahce are around -172, with the draw near +340 and Slavia near +425. The home side should win more often than not, but the price already says so: no edge.
How these teams got here
Fenerbahce opened Matchday 1 with a 1-1 home draw against Roma, which was a respectable start. Matchday 2 undid it. Aston Villa beat them 6-0 at Villa Park, and after two games Fenerbahce have scored 1 goal and conceded 7. That -6 goal difference has them 28th in the 36-team table.
Slavia's two results were closer, but they lost both. Danijel Sturm scored twice against Lens in Prague, and Slavia led 2-1 late. Then Mikulas Konecny was sent off early in the second half, and Lens won it 3-2 on a 93rd-minute goal from Ruben Aguilar. A week ago in Baku, Sabah won 2-0. Slavia have 2 goals for and 5 against, and sit 31st.
Both teams played domestic league games on the weekend, so neither has extra rest, and rotation is possible.
Fenerbahce's shaky defense vs Slavia's blunt attack
This game turns on whether Fenerbahce's back line can recover from the Villa loss. Conceding 3.5 goals a game in Europe would be a crisis for any club. But one six-goal game against a Premier League side skews a two-game sample, and Slavia aren't Villa. In Baku, Slavia were shut out by a first-time Champions League club.
At home, Fenerbahce have been far steadier. Per Yahoo Sports' preview, they've lost only one of their last eight home matches and have scored in eight straight at home. That fits the market's view, which gives the hosts a roughly 60% chance once the margin is removed.
Slavia's case is thinner but real. They took a lead over Lens and were beating them until they went down to ten men. Per the same preview, they've lost just one of their last seven away matches. Their record against Fenerbahce is also good: two wins in three meetings. Those were back-to-back wins in the 2022 Conference League tie, before Fenerbahce won 2-1 in Prague in November 2024.
Who's missing
There's no official injury report for either club yet, and previews disagree on availability. The Stats Zone lists Fenerbahce defenders Jayden Oosterwolde and Mert Müldür and attacker Marco Asensio as out. For Slavia, it lists Stefan Chaloupek, Ouanda, Pitak and Jurasek as injured, with Ivan Schranz and Kacor questionable because of illness or injury. Goal's preview reports no absences at all. Treat all of it as unconfirmed until the lineups come out about an hour before kickoff.
One name that matters is in the clear. Matteo Guendouzi's UEFA suspension from the Lyon playoff incident was cut on appeal, and the club says he's eligible. With him in midfield, Fenerbahce are a different team from the one that collapsed at Villa Park.
If Oosterwolde and Müldür are both out, that's two first-choice defenders missing from a back line that just conceded six. That's the main reason not to pay a big price for the home side.
Prediction: no edge
Fenerbahce are the likelier winner, but at around -172 the market already prices that in.
- The model's draw number is too low. The model gives Fenerbahce 73% and the draw only 5%. The draw is priced near +340, roughly 23%, and two struggling teams with leaky defenses is exactly the kind of game that ends level.
- Outside models are lower. Squawka's model has Fenerbahce at 54%, below the market's roughly 60% after removing the margin.
- Fenerbahce's defense is a question mark. They've allowed 7 goals in 2 games and may be missing two starting defenders.
- Slavia hold up well away from home. They've lost one of their last seven away matches and beat Fenerbahce in both games of the 2022 tie.
Swing factor: confirmed lineups. If Fenerbahce start a full-strength back line with Guendouzi in midfield, the home price looks better.
Total: the line is 3.5, and the under is the heavier price (around -139). Both defenses have been poor, but these two attacks have combined for 3 goals in four Champions League games. We wouldn't pay that price on the over.
