Charlotte Hornets vs Miami Heat Prediction, Picks & Odds (Oct 24, 2026)
By SportsHub Model · Edited by Kyle Parker
The 20-second version
- No edge: our model has Miami at 59% (low confidence), in line with the moneyline's roughly 59% implied price.
- Miami has allowed 129.5 points per game through an 0-2 start.
- Giannis Antetokounmpo had 36 points and 12 rebounds on 15-of-26 shooting Friday.
- Charlotte shot 11-of-51 from three with 25 turnovers in Friday's 128-81 loss, with Knueppel, White and Williams sidelined.

The Miami Heat (0-2) visit the Charlotte Hornets (1-1) at Spectrum Center on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. ET (NBA League Pass), the second night of a back-to-back for both teams. Miami is a 3.5-point favorite across licensed books, -155 to -165 on the moneyline, with the total at 231.5–232.5. Giannis Antetokounmpo is scoring at will, but Miami's defense has given up 129.5 points a game. Our call: no edge.
Two teams coming off ugly Fridays
Neither side shows up with momentum. Charlotte opened with a 110-103 win in Brooklyn, then got buried at home by Atlanta on Friday, 128-81. That loss was as bad as the score says: 34% shooting, 11-of-51 from three and 25 turnovers. Brandon Miller went 2-of-14 (1-of-11 from deep). Naz Reid led the team with 17 points.
Miami is still looking for its first win. The Heat lost 131-106 to Minnesota on opening night and 128-111 to Detroit on Friday. Two games and two opponents past 125 points add up to 129.5 allowed per game, the stat that keeps this line from getting away from Charlotte.
The schedule cuts both ways. Both teams played Friday night. The Hornets stayed home, while the Heat had to travel from Miami to Charlotte overnight. Over two games Miami has scored 108.5 per game and allowed 129.5. Charlotte sits at 95.5 and 115.5.
Giannis against a thin Charlotte frontline
The single biggest number in this matchup is Antetokounmpo's Friday line: 36 points and 12 rebounds on 15-of-26 shooting in 33 minutes against Detroit. He's the one Heat player creating clean looks right now. Davion Mitchell chipped in 18, while Andrew Wiggins (3-of-12) and Klay Thompson (2-of-11, every shot a three) struggled.
Charlotte will throw Reid, Moussa Diabate and center Ryan Kalkbrenner at him. Diabate and Kalkbrenner went a combined 5-of-6 from the floor Friday but played only 40 minutes between them. If the Hornets send help early, Miami's shooters have to punish it. They went 15-of-51 from three against Detroit, so that's no guarantee.
On the other end, Charlotte's offense needs volume from the perimeter, and that's exactly where it is hurting.
Charlotte's guard room is the swing
Three Hornets carry game-time tags heading into Saturday: Kon Knueppel (hamstring), Coby White (calf) and Grant Williams (hamstring). All three sat Friday, and Charlotte's backcourt rotation without them leaned on Dennis Schroder (1-of-5), Sion James (1-of-7) and Grayson Allen (11 points). Kylan Boswell (knee) is out until at least early November.
If Knueppel and White both go, the Hornets get two primary scorers back and the 3.5-point number looks fair to generous. If both sit again, Charlotte is relying on the same group that shot 22% from three on Friday. Miami has no players on the injury report.
How the line has moved
The spread hasn't moved off Miami -3.5. The moneyline is where the market has leaned: the Heat opened around -148 and now sit at -155 to -165. The total opened at 231.5 and has ticked to 232.5 at most books. With Charlotte's injury news still pending, expect another move once statuses are final.
Prediction: no edge on Hornets vs Heat
No edge. Our model makes Miami a 59% favorite at low confidence. That's essentially what the moneyline already prices (about 59% once the vig is removed), and ESPN Analytics' matchup predictor has this one at 50/50. Here's why we're passing:
- Miami's defense: 129.5 points allowed per game is not a profile you lay points with on the road.
- Giannis: a 36-and-12 night is the best individual matchup on the floor, and Charlotte has no obvious answer.
- Charlotte's shooting: 11-of-51 from three and 25 turnovers on Friday is the worst-case version of this team.
- Injuries: Knueppel, White and Williams are unresolved, so the Hornets' true roster isn't known yet.
The swing factor is Charlotte's guard availability. Get two of the three back and the Hornets are live at home. On the total, both defenses have been generous, but Charlotte's 81-point Friday and a pair of tired legs make 232 hard to back either way.
