By SportsHub Model · Edited by Kyle Parker
The 20-second version
- No edge: the model gives Georgia 79%, in line with a licensed moneyline of -440 to -460 (about 78% without the vig).
- Georgia's passing edge: Stockton completes 74% at 9.9 yards per attempt against Florida's 121st-ranked pass defense.
- Florida's rushing edge: Jadan Baugh has 13 TDs, and Georgia allowed 192 and 161 rushing yards in its last two games.
- Watch Aaron Philo's shoulder: he's questionable but reported to start for Florida.

No. 3 Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC) and No. 17 Florida (5-2, 3-2 SEC) meet Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC, and for the first time since 1995 it isn't in Jacksonville: the rivalry moves to Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Licensed books hang Georgia -11.5 with a 56.5 total. The Bulldogs score 43 points a game, but they've been gashed on the ground in back-to-back outings, and Florida has the SEC's rushing-touchdown leader. No edge: the model's 79% sits right on the market.
How these teams got here
Both teams come off a bye; neither has played since Oct. 17, and that day sent them in opposite directions.
Georgia started 6-0, including a 20-17 win at Alabama, then lost 27-24 at home to Auburn. Gunner Stockton threw multiple interceptions in a game for the first time in his career, and his fumble in the final minute set up Auburn's game-winning field goal. The season line still looks dominant (43.0 points scored, 15.9 allowed per game), but strip out the two non-conference blowouts and Georgia averages 33.6 points in SEC play. In its last two games it scored just 20 and 24, with final margins of +3 and -3.
Florida's season has swung harder. The Gators opened 4-0, beating then-No. 4 Ole Miss 52-28, then lost 45-17 at Missouri and 38-19 to South Carolina. They recovered with a 27-24 win at then-No. 7 Texas, with Tramell Jones Jr. making his first career start. Florida scores 39.6 points per game, but its SEC defense has allowed 34.8 points per game across five league games.
Where the game is decided: Florida's run game vs. Georgia's air attack
This matchup has one clear mismatch on each side.
Florida's edge is Jadan Baugh. He has 763 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, the most rushing scores in the SEC, and Florida ran for 200-plus yards in each of its first four games. Georgia's run defense has slipped: Auburn ran for 192 yards and Alabama for 161 in the last two games. If Baugh stays on schedule, Florida shortens the game, and 11.5 points becomes a lot to cover.
Georgia's edge is Stockton against a soft secondary. He's completing 74% of his passes at 9.9 yards per attempt, both best among qualified SEC passers per DawgNation, with 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Florida's pass defense ranks 121st nationally and its total defense 88th (per DawgNation). Georgia also runs for 6.0 yards per carry to Florida's 4.8, with Dwight Phillips Jr. at 7.4 a carry.
Both fronts get home: each team has 22 sacks.
The quarterback question and the injury report
Florida's biggest unknown is under center. Aaron Philo (shoulder) is questionable on Thursday's SEC availability report after getting hurt against South Carolina on Oct. 10 and missing the Texas game. ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that Philo will start; Jon Sumrall hasn't announced it. Philo has completed 70.5% of his passes for 1,341 yards with 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Jones, the backup, is questionable too. He went 22 of 35 for 155 yards and two scores in Austin.
Florida also lists WR Bailey Stockton and LB Jaden Robinson as doubtful and RB Duke Clark as questionable. WR Vernell Brown III is probable after missing three games with a knee sprain. He has 17 catches for 271 yards and two punt-return touchdowns, so he adds a big-play threat if he's back.
Georgia is thinner than usual. RB Chauncey Bowens, edge Amaris Williams, WR Thomas Blackshear and S Tyriq Green are all out, and S KJ Bolden and WR Isiah Canion are questionable. Losing Williams off the edge matters against a Florida offense that wants to run.
How the line has moved
Georgia opened -12.5, dropped as low as -10.5 after the Auburn loss, and sits at -11.5 at every licensed book. The moneyline runs -440 to -460. The bigger move is the total: it opened at 53.5 and has climbed to 56.5.
Prediction: No edge on Georgia vs. Florida
No edge. The numbers split too evenly to beat a fair price:
- The model matches the market. It gives Georgia 79%. The licensed moneyline implies 81–82%, or about 78% once the vig is removed, and ESPN Analytics has Georgia at 81.6%.
- Georgia's passing edge is real, with a 74% passer against the nation's 121st-ranked pass defense.
- So is Florida's ground game, with 13 Baugh touchdowns against a defense that allowed 192 and 161 rushing yards in its last two games.
- Recent form undercuts the spread. Georgia's last two games were decided by three points each, and it averages 33.6 points against SEC teams.
- Florida's SEC defense pulls the other way: 34.8 points allowed per league game.
The swing factor is Philo's shoulder. A healthy Philo gives Florida a passing threat that keeps Georgia from loading the box against Baugh.
On the total, Georgia's SEC games have averaged 51.2 combined points and Florida's 66.6. The two point in opposite directions, so we pass on the 56.5 as well.
