With numerous upcoming ATP events on the calendar, tennis bettors have a lot to be excited about right now.

Earlier this month, Carlos Alcaraz secured a memorable victory over Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, signaling a new era for men’s tennis. Could the 20-year-old Spaniard defend his US Open crown later this summer?

Today, I will be previewing the biggest upcoming ATP events and discussing the best matches to target from a betting perspective. I will also be sharing some tennis picks along the way before looking ahead to the 2023 US Open.

Current ATP Events – What’s Happening Right Now?

Three ATP events kicked off on Monday, July 24 – the Hamburg European Open, Atlanta Open and Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag. With each competition scheduled to end on Sunday, July 30, there are plenty of tennis matches to bet on this week.

Below, I assess the top contenders for each men’s singles tournament. On top of that, I share my favorite pick for an upcoming match from each event.

Hamburg European Open

The 2023 Hamburg European Open features a strong field, including world #4 Casper Rud and world #7 Andrey Rublev. The defending champion is Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, who currently finds himself at #18 in the ATP Rankings.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry entered the tournament as the #6 seed, but Laslo Djere dispatched the Argentine in the first round. Djere will be brimming with belief after knocking out Etcheverry, so I’m backing the Serb to defeat Guido Pella in the second round.

Best Match to Target: Laslo Djere vs. Guido Pella (Wednesday, July 25)

Best Bet: Laslo Djere (-200)

Atlanta Open

As the world #9, Taylor Fritz is the #1 seed for the 2023 Atlanta Open. This year’s tournament also features Australia’s Alex de Minaur, who won the 2022 Atlanta Open, and Christopher Eubanks, who reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals earlier this month.

Yoshihito Nishioka (world #31) is the #4 seed this year, and the Japanese player comes up against Aleksandar Vukic in the second round. Wednesday’s contest looks set to be an intriguing battle, but you’ll have to sign in to access my pick for that match.

Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag

The 2023 Croatia Open may not boast the same big names as the other two ongoing events, but there are two men inside the top 50 – Jiri Lehecka (world #36) and Lorenzo Sonego (world #43) – as well as the legendary Stan Wawrinka.

Having reached the Australian Open quarterfinals earlier this year, Lehecka will fancy his chances of going all the way in Croatia. First, the 21-year-old Czech must get past Dominic Thiem in the second round on Thursday.

Upcoming ATP Events – What’s Happening Before the US Open?

Now that you’re up to speed on what’s happening right now, it’s time to look at the biggest upcoming ATP events – the Los Cabos Open, Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open.

Of course, there is the small matter of the 2023 US Open on the upcoming ATP events schedule, but there are plenty of other exciting tournaments to bet on before the US Open gets underway.

Los Cabos Open (July 31–August 5)

The 2023 Los Cabos Open is scheduled to commence on July 31. Also known as the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo for sponsorship reasons, the Mexican event will welcome a host of high-profile players to the Baja California Peninsula.

Stefanos Tsitsipas (world #5) is the #1 seed for the men’s singles tournament, while Karen Khachanov (world #11), Cameron Norrie (world #13), Tommy Paul (world #14), Borna Coric (world #15) and Alex de Minaur (world #17) will also compete for the trophy.

Canadian Open (August 7–August 13)

Branded as the National Bank Open Presented by Rodgers, the 2023 Canadian Open is set to take place between August 7 and August 13. Although Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the event due to fatigue, the lineup is still stacked with world-class players.

Fresh from triumphing at Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz (world #1) will enter the 2023 Canadian Open as the favorite to go all the way. Guys like Daniil Medvedev (world #3) and Holger Rune (world #6) will also be eager to make their mark.

Cincinnati Masters (August 13–August 20)

The Western & Southern Open – more commonly known as the Cincinnati Masters – is another one of the upcoming ATP events to look out for. Again, the Cincinnati Masters will feature all the biggest names in men’s tennis.

Borna Coric won the men’s singles tournament at the 2022 Cincinnati Masters, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. Can the 26-year-old Croatian defend his title? Or will we see a different winner this time around?

2023 US Open Preview – Odds and Key Information

It goes without saying that the US Open is the biggest tournament on the upcoming ATP events schedule. With that in mind, let’s wrap things up by checking out the latest odds for the final Grand Slam of the year.

The action gets underway on August 28, with Carlos Alcaraz bidding to defend the men’s singles crown. Here are the current 2023 US Open men’s singles odds, which are subject to change.

2023 US Open Odds

  • Carlos Alcaraz (+125)
  • Novak Djokovic (+160)
  • Daniil Medvedev (+500)
  • Jannik Sinner (+1000)
  • Nick Kyrgios (+1400)
  • Holger Rune (+1800)
  • Rafael Nadal (+1800)
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas (+2500)
  • Casper Ruud (+2500)
  • Alexander Zverev (+3300)
  • F. Auger-Aliassime (+3300)
  • Matteo Berrettini (+3300)

  • Andrey Rublev (+3300)
  • Taylor Fritz (+3300)
  • Denis Shapovalov (+3300)
  • Frances Tiafoe (+3300)

As expected, Alcaraz and Djokovic are the bookies’ favorites to secure the silverware in New York. Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in this year’s Wimbledon final, but we shouldn’t forget that Djokovic has reached nine US Open finals over the year, triumphing on three occasions.

Medvedev bridges the gap between the favorites and the hopefuls, with guys like Jannik Sinner, Nick Kyrgios and Holger Rune also in the mix. And if you’re looking for an outside bet, why not back Rafael Nadal? After all, the 22-time Grand Slam winner already has four US Open titles to his name.
