Serie A Matchday 17 picks are locked in. It won’t be long before Christmas Day arrives but Sports Hub is still here to help you with your European soccer bets over the festive period.

We had a number of Euro soccer matches on display midweek with Ligue 1, Serie A, the Bundesliga and La Liga all playing out games. I was successful with my picks earlier on this week, winning three from the German top-flight, whilst another one was pushed. My only loss came from Ligue 1. Make sure you take a look at my handicapper page, Ashlee Kiddell, to gain access to all of my upcoming picks!

Last weekend, I went 2-3-1 with my Euro soccer picks. However, I was able to bounce back with the midweek selections. Let’s hope that I can turn a nice profit leading up to the Christmas holidays. This weekend, the focus will be Serie A Matchday 17 picks. Let’s get into it!

Euro Soccer Top Leagues – Recap

Premier League

England always has an extremely busy festive schedule and so you need to check out our Premier League Matchweek 18 Predictions for our latest picks. I will also be making one of my own English top-flight bets so be sure to take a look at that below.

Arsenal managed to bounce back from their loss to Aston Villa with a well-deserved 2-0 home win over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend. They have now returned to the top of the pile with Liverpool just one point behind. The Reds shared the points with Manchester United at Anfield last Sunday in a goalless draw.

Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest during the match with Bournemouth but he has since been released from hospital. The Hatters, Burnley and Sheffield United continue to make up the bottom-three.

Ligue 1

After making just one pick from the French top-flight last week, I was able to win that bet as I backed Lens to defeat Reims at home. They managed to secure a 2-0 triumph. Ligue 1 is on break until January 12th so there won’t be any picks from that league this week.

However, we did see some midweek action from France. I lost my only selection as I had under 2.5 goals in the Strasbourg vs Lille match (2-1). Paris Saint-Germain are the leaders at Christmas as they sit five points clear ahead of Nice.

La Liga

La Liga Matchday 17 picks were the key theme of last week’s Euro soccer top leagues article. I went 1-2-1 with my selections so it wasn’t the best of results. We have just one game from Spain over the weekend. Continue reading on to find out whether it makes it in my picks this week.

There were also midweek matches from the Spanish top-flight and those fixtures resume on Friday. Barcelona got back to winning ways with a 3-2 home win over Almeria, whilst Athletic Bilbao’s strong form this term continued with a 1-0 victory over Las Palmas.

Bundesliga

With the Bundesliga now on break until January 12th as well, there will be no picks from Germany this weekend. That is a real shame as I smashed my Bundesliga selections earlier on in the week, going 3-0-1. Unders continue to prove to be a profitable source of profit in the German top-flight.

Bayer Leverkusen remain at the summit and they are still undefeated thus far. Both them and Bayern Munich picked up victories on Thursday and it’s those two sides that look set to battle it out for the title this season.

Serie A

We have a full set of fixtures in store this weekend in the Italian top-flight and games from Serie A will continue to be on show over the new year. That means Sports Hub will still be providing Euro soccer picks for you!

Inter are going strong at the top of the standings and recorded their third successive league win last weekend with a 2-0 victory away to Lazio. That meant they were able to capitalize on Juventus dropping points away to Genoa.

My only Serie A pick lost last week as I had Milan vs Monza to have under 2.5 goals. The bet narrowly lost as the hosts scored a third goal late on in the second half to win 3-0. Serie A Matchday 17 picks will be on the agenda this time around so make sure you check them out below!

Euro Soccer Top Leagues – Serie A Matchday 17 Picks

Now that we are all caught up with what’s been happening across the top Euro soccer leagues, we’re ready to get into my Serie A Matchday 17 picks.

With a limited number of fixtures on the schedule this weekend, I have targeted the Italian top-flight for my selections. However, I am feeling extremely confident with my bets and the research is showing some clear betting trends.

Over the past few weeks, I have identified Serie A Overs as a profitable tendency. Continue reading to find out whether I am riding this trend with my Serie A Matchday 17 picks!

Serie A Matchday 17 Picks – Bologna vs Atalanta Prediction

The first of my Serie A Matchday 17 picks sees in-form Bologna square off against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. Here you can find the current money line prices for the encounter:

  • Bologna (+170)
  • Draw (+220)
  • Atalanta (+170)

Thiago Motta has guided Bologna to an impressive fourth-place in Serie A through 16 matches. It has certainly been an awe-inspiring opening to the campaign and they haven’t had a better start to a league season since the ‘60s!

The Rossoblu have the third-best home record in the division and have conceded just four goals on their own turf, scoring 12 in the process. They won in their last Serie A home match, too, securing a 2-0 triumph over Roma. Bologna also managed to knock out league leaders Inter in the Coppa Italia midweek.

Atalanta have been pretty solid thus far as well and are just two points behind Bologna. They head into this one on the back of consecutive victories over Milan and Salernitana at Gewiss Stadium. However, their most recent road game saw them lose 3-0 away to Torino.

I’m backing Bologna to continue in their impressive recent form of late and beat Atalanta on their own turf.

Best Bet: Bologna (+170)

Serie A Matchday 17 Picks – Roma vs Napoli Prediction

One of the key matches from Italy this week sees Roma welcome current champions Napoli to Stadio Olimpico on Saturday. Take a look at the latest money line odds for the second of my Serie A Matchday 17 picks:

  • Roma (+200)
  • Draw (+215)
  • Napoli (+150)

It hasn’t been the best of seasons so far for either Roma or Napoli. They both currently reside outside of the top-four and head into this clash on the back of defeats. The home side suffered a 2-0 loss away to Bologna in the league last Sunday, whilst the Partenopei were crushed 4-0 at home to Serie A new boys Frosinone in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday.

The Giallorossi’s home form has been good, however, and they haven’t lost at the Olimpico since the beginning of September. Nevertheless, Napoli have excelled on the road and have the second best away record in Serie A. That makes the money line extremely hard to call.

As a result, I will be making a selection via the goals market. The statistics are showing a strong trend and the odds are demonstrating good value, too.

Serie A Matchday 17 Picks – Verona vs Cagliari Prediction

My Serie A Matchday 17 picks conclude with Verona and Cagliari going head-to-head at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi on Saturday. Below are the latest money line odds for the game:

  • Verona (+138)
  • Draw (+230)
  • Cagliari (+205)

We head towards the bottom of Serie A for this selection since both Verona and Cagliari have struggled to start the season. The hosts were able to win their opening two league matches but have not won a single game since, meaning they are on a run of 14 games without a victory.

It took nine matches for Cagliari to find their first triumph since being promoted from Serie B last term, but they have performed to a reasonable standard since. They narrowly lost 2-1 away to Napoli last time out but had defeated Sassuolo 2-1 on their own turf in the previous match.

Again, I am avoiding a money line pick for this match. The odds are indicating that it will be a close game. Instead, I have opted for a selection from the goals market. Sign in to Sports Hub to gain access to this pick!

Alternative Euro Soccer Top League Picks

My three Serie A Matchday 17 picks have now been confirmed. I feel confident about them being able to result in some nice profits this weekend. That would set me up nicely for Christmas!

I have also selected a further two bets from the alternative Euro soccer leagues on show. The Premier League has a full slate and I have found a wager from the Liverpool vs Arsenal game that I like.

With one La Liga match on the cards on Saturday, I have also made a pick from the Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla game. It’s time to take a look at my alternative Euro soccer picks!

La Liga Matchday 4 Picks – Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla Prediction

Playing out their originally postponed match from earlier this season, Atletico Madrid play host to Sevilla on Saturday. You can view the current money line prices for the match below:

  • Atletico Madrid (-192)
  • Draw (+350)
  • Sevilla (+500)

In spite of failing to win any of their last two in the league, Atletico Madrid are still just about inside the top-four. However, Athletic Bilbao are level on points and are hot on their tails. That makes this clash with the current Europa League champions even more significant.

Sevilla’s domestic woes have continued this season and they are already onto their third head coach of the campaign. They managed to pick up just their third victory of the season last time out in a 3-0 triumph away to Granada, but they have still been poor on the road overall.

Both sides have been susceptible to conceding goals of late and so I will be heading on over to the goals market again for this pick.

Premier League Matchday 18 Picks – Liverpool vs Arsenal Prediction

My alternative Euro soccer picks will finish with Liverpool vs Arsenal as the top-two sides in the Premier League do battle at Anfield in a gigantic clash from Anfield on Saturday. Check out the current money line odds for the affair here:

  • Liverpool (+140)
  • Draw (+265)
  • Arsenal (+180)

The Gunners have proven that last season’s second-placed finish was no fluke as they currently sit atop the standings. Even after losing 1-0 away to Villa a couple of weeks ago, they returned to the summit after defeating Brighton last time out.

The top contenders across the English top-flight continue to drop points and Liverpool failed to return to the top of the pile after drawing 0-0 at home to fierce rivals Manchester United last Sunday. Nevertheless, they proved their goal-scoring prowess midweek with a vehement 5-1 triumph at home to West Ham United in the Carabao Cup.

Clashes between the two at Anfield have resulted in a plethora of goals over recent years. We saw a four-goal thriller from Merseyside last term as the Reds came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Mikel Arteta’s men. That would ultimately prove to be costly in their title bid. Can Arsenal get revenge this time around?
