Most Memorable Thanksgiving NFL Moments

There are a bunch of football memories from Thanksgiving. What’s your most memorable Thanksgiving NFL moment? Can you draw off any of them for your Week 12 NFL picks?

Anyone watching football in 1993 will forget when Leon Lett touched the ball after a missed field goal, giving Dolphins kicker Pete Stoyanovich a second chance. Stoyanovich didn’t miss, giving Miami a 16-14 win in Dallas.

If you go back and look at the video, you’d say there’s no way that game was played in Texas. Temperatures were below freezing there that day, with snow, freezing rain and sleet falling. That type of weather had never been recorded there on Thanksgiving. It was the coldest Thanksgiving ever recorded – low of 23°F & high of 35°F – with the wintry precipitation being a first.

Some other Thanksgiving NFL memories include the Mark Sanchez “Butt Fumble” (2012), the Phil Luckett heads/tails blunder (1998) and when Lawrence Taylor almost single handedly beats the Lions on November 25, 1982.

There have also been some spectacular rushing performances, with Emmitt Smith accounting for a handful. O.J. Simpson had a 273-yard game in 1976. But we’ll never forget the electric Barry Sanders. In 1997, against the Bears, Sanders rushed for 167 yards on 19 carries on Thanksgiving. Barry’s 3 TDs helped the Lions to a 55-20 win that day.

Week 12 NFL Picks: Moneylines Spreads & Totals

We got a little offtrack, reminiscing about Thanksgivings gone by – ahhhh … the good old days. However, we have a great schedule for your Week 12 NFL picks. Starting with the first ever Black Friday game.

3 p.m. ET is when we’ll see the Black Friday game kickoff from MetLife Stadium when the Jets host the Dolphins. The Jets are currently a 6 to 6.5-point home dog, depending which book you use. This will be a big AFC East matchup, with potentially huge implications.

On Sunday, the division matchup theme keeps rolling, with them making up 5 of the 11 games on the slate. All 5 games on Thursday, Friday and Sunday are division matchups. The Vikings host the Bears to close out the week on Monday Night Football. There are some great games for our Week 12 NFL picks.

Here are some point spreads to keep your eye on for you Week 12 NFL picks:

  • Steelers @ Bengals (-5.5)
  • Jaguars @ Texans (+1)
  • Patriots @ Giants (+5.5)
  • Saints @ Falcons (pk)
  • Bills @ Eagles (-3.5)
  • Ravens @ Chargers (+3.5)

Best Pick ATS

If you are looking to make Week 12 NFL picks then you are going to want to check out the best spread betting picks first. There are a number of good options, but you should be looking out West as the Los Angeles Rams visit the Arizona Cardinals.

Los Angeles still has an outside chance of making the playoffs this season, while Arizona needs to continue to lose games. This game will be tight as the odds suggest, but it’s going to be the Rams that win to cover the spread.

Los Angeles Rams -0.5

Best Moneyline Pick

There are a couple of options for you to pick an upset in Week 12 as betting odds are tight throughout the weekend. The Cleveland Browns visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon and both teams are heading in the right direction.

Cleveland is expected to have a new quarterback under center for this game, and that defense just continues to be dominant. The Browns are going to go on the road as 2.5-point underdogs and pick up a massive win.

Cleveland Browns +130

Best Total Pick

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals are set to meet up in a big game in the AFC North Division. Pittsburgh has been struggling to find a quarterback for a few years, and Cincinnati just lost Joe Burrow for the season.

Pittsburgh wants to win games with defense, and that is now the way that the Cincinnati Bengals are going to have to play. Don’t expect either team to be throwing the ball down field in this game, and it’s going to lead to a low-scoring affair.

Pittsburgh Steelers/Cincinnati Bengals: Under 34.5

Best Player Prop

The Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Houston Texans on Sunday for a massive game in the AFC South Division. Houston has been one of the biggest surprises of the season, and the Texans are going to be looking to stay hot in this game.

Jacksonville should be able to win this game, but the Texans have a weapon in quarterback C.J. Stroud. Stroud has been putting up a ton of passing yards this season, and taking him to throw for at least 275 yards is going to be a wager to make in this one.

C.J. Stroud 275+ Passing Yards

Best Team Prop

The Kansas City Chiefs visit the Las Vegas Raiders, and this will be one of the Week 12 NFL picks that you are going to want to make. This game should be a highly-entertaining game, but the Chiefs continue to be the best team in the division.

The betting spread for this game is pretty large, and it’s hard to know if the Chiefs are going to be able to cover the spread. Kansas City will be leading at halftime and then win the game, and that will give you a good team betting prop to explore.

Kansas City Chiefs Halftime/Fulltime

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Indianapolis Colts

The 4-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are visiting the 5-5 Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, and both teams could desperately use a victory. Tampa Bay has lost four of their last five games, while Indianapolis has come into this game with two straight wins.

Don’t expect a ton of points in this game, but it will be the Colts that end up doing most of the scoring in this one. The spread for this game is just 2.5-points, and home field advantage will allow Indianapolis to win and cover the spread.

Indianapolis Colts -2.5

New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons

NFC South rivals are set to meet up on Sunday for a big game as the Atlanta Falcons host the New Orleans Saints. The division title is still up for grabs, and this game will go a long ways towards deciding who gets that done.

New Orleans is a slim one-point betting favorite in this game, and they should find a way to pick up a win. That’s not the best wager to make in this game though as you will want to bet on Alvin Kamara to find the end zone.

Alvin Kamara Anytime Touchdown Scorer +135

New England Patriots vs. New York Giants

Two of the worst teams in the league will meet on Sunday as the New York Giants will host the New England Patriots. New England has won just two games this season, but head coach Bill Belichick is not going to be giving up on the year.

This Giants team has a rookie quarterback that struggles with accuracy, and the Patriots will take advantage of that. Look for New England to pick up win number three as they are able to make just enough plays with the football.

New England Patriots -3.0

Carolina Panthers vs. Tennessee Titans

The Carolina Panthers were expected to struggle this season, and that has happened as they are now just 1-0 on the year. Carolina will be in Tennessee to face the Titans on Sunday, and the home team is going to have to run the football effectively.

Things haven’t exactly gone well for the Tennessee Titans either, but running back Derrick Henry continues to be a pleasant surprise. Henry is going to have another monster game in this one as he gets to 100 rushing yards to help the team win.

Derrick Henry 100+ Rushing Yards

Buffalo Bills vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Buffalo Bills visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon and this will be the best game of the day. It’s also a good opportunity to make Week 12 NFL picks, especially if you want to bet on the underdog.

Buffalo is getting 3.5 points for this game, and the Bills are going to have to find a way to keep this game close. Philadelphia remains the best team in the league up to this point, but the desperate Bills will battle until the final whistle sounds.

Buffalo Bills +3.5

With so much going on during this Thanksgiving Week, we didn’t even get a chance to touch on one of the marquee matchups of the week. The late afternoon window features the Buffalo Bills at Philadelphia Eagles, a matchup many predicted to be the prequel to the Super Bowl.

The Bills have been somewhat of a disappointment, not playing up to preseason expectations. While the Eagles haven’t been dominant, they still have the best record in the NFC after 10 weeks. They will be undefeated at home when the Bills visit at 4-0 in Week 12.
