Model Check
We made no pick. The model favored Houston at 74%, just under the 75–78% implied by the Rockets' -303 to -345 moneyline, so there was no edge. The Rockets won by 32; with no pick, there is no return to grade.
How the preview's reasons held up:
- Houston's offense against a leaky defense: held. The Rockets scored 132 on 55% shooting and 17-of-38 from three. Milwaukee came in allowing 122.3 points per game.
- The Sengun gap: it didn't show. Houston had six players in double figures and 27 assists, and Capela posted 10 points and 8 rebounds in 22 minutes.
- Milwaukee's rebounding edge: didn't hold. Houston won the boards 44-40, though the Bucks had 14 offensive rebounds to Houston's 8. Milwaukee shot 40% (37-of-92) and 12-of-41 from three.
- Turnovers as the swing factor: a wash. Houston committed 15 and Milwaukee 17; the Bucks scored 18 points off turnovers, the Rockets 17.
