We have several tasty Major League Soccer clashes to sink our teeth into on Tuesday, July 4th, with a total of five games on the schedule. If you’re looking for the top MLS picks for Tuesday’s clashes, you have certainly come to the right place.

Before we dive into my recommended Major League Soccer picks, let’s go over a quick recap of what happened in the previous round of MLS games, covering all the key talking points, standout results and upsets. If you’re new to soccer, take a look at our article that talked about how to bet on soccer.

What Happened Last Weekend in Major League Soccer?

St. Louis City SC opened up a three-point lead at the Western Conference summit thanks to a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. Over in the East, runaway leader FC Cincinnati was held to a 2-2 draw by the New England Revolution, although Chris Albright’s men remain six points clear at the top.

Elsewhere, FC Dallas claimed a shock 2-0 win against Los Angeles FC, while Sporting Kansas City registered an unexpected 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Without further ado, it’s time to check out the best MLS bets for Tuesday, July 4th. I will also share my midweek MLS predictions throughout this article, so be sure to stick around until the end.

MLS Picks and Predictions for Tuesday, July 4th, 2023

I’m super excited to get up and running with Sports Hub and to start sharing my MLS picks on a weekly basis. With five games on Tuesday’s slate, I’m confident that we can make a tasty midweek profit to kick things off.

Inter Miami vs. Columbus Crew Prediction

Despite holding Austin FC to a 1-1 draw last time out, Inter Miami remains at the foot of the Eastern Conference. The Herons have lost 13 of their 19 MLS games this season, scoring a measly 18 goals in the process.

At the opposite end of the standings, the Columbus Crew occupies fourth place and leads Inter Miami by 18 points. Wilfried Nancy’s men head into Tuesday’s clash on a six-game unbeaten streak, having collected five wins and one draw since their last loss.

It is also worth noting that Columbus boasts the best offensive record in the entire league, averaging exactly two goals per game this year. With that in mind, I’m backing the Crew to find the back of the net on at least two occasions against struggling Inter Miami.

Best Bet: Columbus Crew Over 1.5 Goals (-102)

Orlando City vs. Toronto FC Prediction

Orlando City claimed a 3-1 victory over Chicago Fire in the previous round, courtesy of a brace from Uruguayan playmaker Facundo Torres, who has now chalked up seven goals and two assists in 17 league appearances this year.

Thanks largely to Torres’ exploits, the Lions have lost just one of their last 10 MLS games. As a result, they have climbed to seventh place in the Eastern Conference – 12 points clear of 14th-placed Toronto FC.

Orlando City vs. Toronto FC MLS pick

By contrast, Toronto has managed to pick up just three victories in 21 league outings this season, recording 10 draws and eight losses along the way. Worse still, the Reds are the joint-lowest scorers in the East, having bagged 18 goals in 21 outings.

All the signs point towards the home win here, but the Canadians will fancy their chances of enhancing their league-high tally of draws.

FC Dallas vs. DC United Prediction  – MLS Picks For July 4th

FC Dallas snapped a two-game winless run with a 2-0 victory over Los Angeles FC last weekend, despite seeing just 37% of the ball on home soil. Consequently, the Texans find themselves fifth in the Western Conference – six points shy of first-placed St. Louis City SC.

DC United, meanwhile, suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Nashville SC, meaning Wayne Rooney’s men have lost three of their previous four matches. When you look at the bigger picture, DC United has picked up only three wins across the past 12 games.

To make matters worse for Rooney’s men, they have lost five of their last seven away games in all competitions, claiming a solitary victory in the process. DC United’s struggles on the road will give Dallas plenty of confidence, but the Hoops cannot afford to rest on their laurels.

Colorado Rapids vs. Portland Timbers Prediction

There is no hiding the fact that the Colorado Rapids are the worst team in Major League Soccer right now. Indeed, the Rapids find themselves rock bottom of the Supports’ Shield standings, having taken 14 points from a possible 60 this season.

Colorado has collected just two victories in 20 matches this year, scoring 14 goals along the way. Worse yet, the Rapids have failed to win any of their previous 10 outings, suffering eight defeats while firing seven blanks.

Although the Portland Timbers sit only two places above Colorado in the Western Conference, they have registered eight points and nine goals more than Tuesday’s opponent. On top of that, the Timbers have achieved three shutouts in their last five away games.

Colorado is the home favorite here. In my eyes, however, backing Portland makes a lot more sense. Plus, the attractive moneyline odds are too tasty to ignore.

Best Bet: Portland Timbers (+210)

MLS Picks – LA Galaxy vs. LAFC Prediction

The last of my MLS picks for this week concerns Tuesday’s El Trafico showdown between LA Galaxy and Los Angeles FC. The two rivals find themselves at opposite ends of the Western Conference, with second-placed LAFC leading second-bottom LA Galaxy by 16 points.

Interestingly, the Galaxy heads into this clash on the back of four straight draws, while Greg Vanney’s have avoided defeat in each of their previous five MLS games. In terms of the bigger picture, however, LA Galaxy has claimed just three victories in 19 league matches this season, conceding a conference-high 31 goals in the process.

Although LAFC enters Tuesday’s showdown on a two-game losing streak, Steve Cherundolo’s men remain in contention to defend their Supporters’ Shield crown, having lost only five of their 19 MLS matches this year.

That said, I recommend exploring the goal markets for this clash. Since 14 of the 19 previous meetings between the Galaxy and LAFC have dished up over 2.5 goals, we will likely be treated to another high-scoring encounter this time around.
