Weekly Cricket Roundup – Caribbean Premier League Picks

Updated:

Welcome to Sports Hub’s Weekly Cricket Roundup. On today’s menu, we have some Caribbean Premier League picks, an update from The Hundred and everything in between.

The cricket season may be drawing to a close in the UK, but there are still loads of exciting cricket betting opportunities out there. Not only do we have the CPL to sink our teeth into, but we also have lots of ODIs and T20Is to look forward to.

I will be sharing this week’s Caribbean Premier League picks a little later. First, let’s go over all the key news from the world of cricket.

What’s Happening in the World of Cricket?

Harry Brook scored the fastest century in the history of The Hundred on Tuesday, smashing 105 runs off 42 balls. However, the England batter was unable to prevent his Northern Superchargers from losing against Welsh Fire.

Elsewhere in the UK, Gloucestershire, Lancashire, Hampshire and Worcestershire have qualified for the 2023 One-Day Cup quarter-finals, with Leicestershire and Warwickshire advancing to the semi-finals as group winners.

On the T20I stage, India leads Ireland 2-0 in their three-match series, while Afghanistan and Pakistan are in the middle of an ODI series. The top cricket sportsbooks enable us to wager on these matches, so be sure to shop around for odds.

Now that you’re up to speed on all the latest news from the world of cricket, it’s time to check out my Caribbean Premier League picks.

Best Caribbean Premier League Picks This Week

The 2023 Caribbean Premier League kicked off last week, and the tournament will run until September 24. That means cricket bettors have the opportunity to lock in tons of Caribbean Premier League picks in the coming weeks.

The Jamaica Tallawahs lifted the trophy last season, clinching their third title in 10 years. However, the Trinbago Knight Riders remain the most successful team in the history of the CPL, having won four of the previous eight titles.

We have two intriguing matchups on the schedule this week – the first taking place on Wednesday, August 23, and the second taking place on Saturday, August 26. Read on to discover my Caribbean Premier League picks and predictions.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots vs. Jamaica Tallawahs Prediction

Odds: St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (-105); Jamaica Tallawahs (-125)

The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots faced the Trinbago Knight Riders in their opening match of the season, but the contest was abandoned after just three overs due to rain. As a result, the Patriots sit on one point after the first round.

Meanwhile, the Jamaica Tallawahs kicked off their campaign with an 11-run win against the Saint Lucia Kings. Brandon King was the star of the show with the bat, smashing 81 runs off 53 balls to fire his team to victory.

The Tallawahs were scheduled to face the Barbados Royals last weekend, but inclement weather prevented the game from taking place. Still, I expect the Tallawahs to pick up where they left off against the Kings, dispatching the Patriots

Best Bet: Jamaica Tallawahs (-125)

Saint Lucia Kings vs. Trinbago Knight Riders Prediction

Odds: Saint Lucia Kings (+111); Trinbago Knight Riders (-141)

The Saint Lucia Kings have already played three games this season, recording one win, one loss and one no result. After losing against Jamaica, Saint Lucia thrashed Barbados by 54 runs in their second match. However, their third game was postponed due to rain.

As for the Trinbago Knight Riders, they have not completed a game in 2023 after their opener against the Patriots was disrupted by the weather. Thankfully, the second phase of the tournament is taking place in Saint Kitts!

Trinbago’s roster is stacked with world-class T20 players like Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran and Dwayne Bravo, so they are favored to win. That said, Faf du Plessis’ Kings are capable of upsetting the odds.

The Hundred – Update and Latest Outright Odds

Now that my Caribbean Premier League picks are locked in, let’s head over to the UK and get up to speed on The Hundred. With only a handful of games remaining, the race for the men’s title is heating up.

THE HUNDRED MEN 2023 – LATEST OUTRIGHT ODDS

  • Oval Invincibles (-120)
  • Manchester Originals (+275)
  • Welsh Fire (+600)
  • Southern Brave (+650)

As you can see, the Oval Invincibles are the bookies’ favorites to secure the silverware. Why? Because they have won six of their eight matches to punch their ticket to the final.

The Manchester Originals have picked up four victories in seven matches, clinching a spot in the semi-final for their efforts. They will be joined by either Welsh Fire or Southern Brave, who will battle it out for the third and final postseason berth.

Over in the women’s tournament, Welsh Fire are the only side to have secured a postseason spot up to now. Southern Brave and Northern Superchargers are also in contention for a place in the final, but they have not been able to guarantee their status so far.

Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the bookies to release their outright odds for the women’s edition of The Hundred. With the tournament reaching its climax, be sure to keep an eye out for those odds.
