Are you hunting for winning UFC 293 predictions? We’ve analyzed the fights and have come up with the best value UFC 293 predictions. UFC 293 is on Saturday at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

Israel Adesanya will put his UFC middleweight belt on the line against Sean Strickland.

UFC 293 Preview

When: Saturday, September 9th 2023

Where: Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia

Time: Early Prelims (6:30 PM ET) / Prelims (8:00 PM ET) / Main Card (10:00 PM ET)

Watch: UFC Fight Pass / ESPN/ESPN+ / PPV

This is a relatively weak PPV card, but there’s lots of Australian talent. The co-main event will feature two top ten heavyweights in Tai Tuivasa (#6 HW) and Alexander Volkov (#7 HW).

The UFC 293 weigh-ins are complete and only one fighter missed weight. Shane Young missed weight by 3.75 pounds. He’ll still fight Gabriel Miranda at catchweight, but he’ll forfeit 30% of his purse.

Expert UFC 293 Predictions

You need a Sports Hub account to access all of our UFC 293 predictions for Saturday. I went 5-1 (+$400) at UFC Paris last weekend, with my lone loss being Bogdan Guskov. Let’s keep the winning streak going this weekend. You can also check out expert UFC 293 predictions from some of our other handicappers.

Israel Adesanya vs. Sean Strickland Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Adesanya (-660) vs. Strickland (+460)

Adesanya (24-2) bounced back from his loss to Alex Pereira (R5 TKO) by knocking Pereira (R2 KO) in the rematch. Strickland (27-5) is 2-0 this year after going 1-2 in three fights last year.

Strickland likes a fast pace. He averages 5.86 SLpM and 4.28 SApM. Adesanya averages 3.94 SLpM and 2.88 SApM. He’ll have a 4” reach advantage (80” vs. 76”) and will look to maintain distance. Strickland is capable of landing takedowns (64% accuracy), but Adesanya has 77% takedown defense.

Strickland looked rough at the weigh-ins and could struggle as the fight progresses. Adesanya has won 19 fights by TKO/KO, but since 2019 he has knocked out only three fighters in nine wins.

Tai Tuivasa vs. Alexander Volkov Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Tuivasa (+200) vs. Volkov (-250)

Tuivasa (14-5) has one-punch KO power, but he makes a lot of mistakes in the cage. Volkov (36-10) is 10-4 in the UFC. After losing to Tom Aspinall last year, Volkov has won two consecutive fights by TKO.

Tuivasa has 13 TKO/KO wins and Volkov has 24 TKO/KO wins. Volkov is also more patient in the cage, which he’ll need to be to avoid an early knockout loss. The longer the fight lasts, the better chance the favorite will have, as Tuivasa has struggled in the past with his cardio.

Volkov has a strong chin and has only been knocked out twice. Tuivasa has been KO’d three times and he has lost his last two fights by knockout. Someone is likely getting knocked out in this HW bout.

Manel Kape vs. Felipe dos Santos Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Kape (-430) vs. dos Santos (+315)

Kape (18-6) started his UFC career on an 0-2 run, but has since gone 3-0. Two of his UFC wins were by TKO/KO. Dos Santos (7-0-0-1) is undefeated at 22 years old and will be making his UFC debut.

Kape averages 4.46 SLpM and 3.92 SApM, but he’ll be giving up 2” in reach. Dos Santos doesn’t have a lot of power yet and his last two wins were by decision. This is a big step up for the Brazilian. This feels like the type of fight dos Santos will lose, but will learn a lot from and bounce back even stronger.

Best Bet: Manel Kape by Stoppage (-150)

Justin Tafa vs. Austen Lane Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Tafa (-195) vs. Lane (+165)

Tafa (6-3-0-1) and Lane (12-3-0-1) fought back in June, but it was stopped in 29 seconds because of an eye poke by Lane (ruled no contest). They’ll get back in the cage on Saturday. Tafa is going to be out for blood after the eye poke. Tafa has won all of his fights by TKO/KO and he has only been KO’d once.

Lane has KO power, but he has been knocked out three times and he’s 35 years old. He’ll have a huge 6” reach advantage (80” vs. 74”) and he has strong striking defense (62%). Tafa lands shots at a high rate (5.02 SLpM), but he also eats a lot of shots (5.95 SApM), which isn’t good at heavyweight.

Tyson Pedro vs. Anton Turkalj Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Pedro (-120) vs. Turkalj (-110)

Pedro (9-4) has dealt with injuries throughout his career and he’s coming off a decision loss. One knock on him has been striking volume, but he’s a finisher (5 Submission and 4 TKO/KO wins). Turkalj (8-2) is 0-2 in the UFC. He averages 6.97 takedowns per 15 minutes (51% accuracy), but struggles elsewhere.

Turkalj only averages 1.60 SLpM. Pedro averages 2.96 SLpM and 2.49 SApM. Pedro has fought some tough LHWs in his career and this feels like a fight he needs to win after losing back in February.

Best Bet: Tyson Pedro ML (-120)

Carlos Ulberg vs. Da Woon Jung Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Ulberg (-265) vs. Jung (+215)

Ulberg (8-1) lost his UFC debut, but has gone 4-0 since. Jung (15-4-1) is 4-2-1 in the UFC, but he has lost his last two fights against Dustin Jacoby (KO) and Devin Clark (Decision). Jung has had an inconsistent run in the UFC and it’s difficult to predict which version of him we’ll see in the cage.

Jung averages 2.10 takedowns per 15 minutes, but Ulberg has 100% takedown defense. Ulberg is active with his striking (8.13 SLpM), plus he lands 62% of his strikes. Jung averages 3.39 SLpM and 3.53 SApM.

Shane Young vs. Gabriel Miranda Prediction

  • Fight Odds: Young (-140) vs. Miranda (+110)

Young (13-7) hasn’t won a fight since 2019. He’s on an 0-3 run in the UFC. Miranda (16-6) lost his UFC debut against Benoit St. Denis at lightweight, but this fight will be at catchweight. Young missed weight and that could give him an edge in this fight, but he hasn’t shown much in the cage lately.

Miranda is a submission specialist (15 Submissions). He averages 2.85 takedowns per 15 minutes and Young has 65% takedown defense. One issue with Miranda is he eats a lot of shots (7.97 SApM).
