Top Takeaways

  • Kansas made it look easy. The Jayhawks never trailed and ended Iowa State’s 16-game win streak with a wire-to-wire blowout.
  • UConn faded late but survived. A near-implosion was avoided thanks to Reed Jr.’s scoring and early cushion.
  • Houston continues to cover quietly. Another dominant win with strong defensive efficiency and low-variance shot selection.
  • Alabama’s offense finally clicked. Philon and Sherrell combined for 54 to end the Tide’s two-game SEC slide.
  • Nebraska’s win streak keeps cashing. Consistent shooting and defensive pressure extended their perfect record to 17-0.
  • Virginia punched first. A 14-0 run to open was all they needed to close out a ranked Louisville team.
  • Tennessee survived a marathon. Down most of the way, the Vols delivered in double OT with timely buckets and late poise.

Game Recaps

Not every number tells the full story. Below, we break down how each game unfolded — what runs defined the final margin, which players stepped up, and where sharp bettors had an edge based on pace, shot quality, or availability.

No. 2 Iowa State vs Kansas Recap: Kansas wins 84-63

Tre White dropped 19, freshman Darryn Peterson added 16, and Kansas absolutely overwhelmed Iowa State in Lawrence. The Jayhawks snapped ISU’s school-record 16-game win streak and handed them their eighth straight loss at Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas built a 26-point lead in the first half and never let the Cyclones back in. Iowa State cut it to 11 early in the second half, but the Jayhawks responded immediately. Kansas shot 51% from three and kept the ball moving with 17 assists — elite execution.

No. 25 Seton Hall vs No. 3 UConn Recap: UConn wins 69-64

Tarris Reed Jr. tied his season high with 21 points, and UConn jumped out fast before clinging to the finish. Karaban and Mullins pitched in, but it was far from smooth.

Seton Hall erased an 18-point deficit, trimming it to one in the final minute. Mike Williams III hit the Pirates’ only three with 47 seconds left, but UConn held thanks to early scoring and better late-game execution.

West Virginia vs No. 7 Houston Recap: Houston wins 77-48

Milos Uzan scored 17 and Houston coasted to its 10th straight win. Three other Cougars reached double figures in another textbook home performance.

DJ Thomas went 4-of-5 from deep and scored 16, but Houston’s defense didn’t give West Virginia much else. The Cougars locked in early, forced turnovers, and never let up.

Oregon vs No. 8 Nebraska Recap: Nebraska wins 90-55

Nebraska stayed perfect, and it wasn’t close. Pryce Sandfort (28) and Braden Frager (23) each hit seven threes to power a 35-point beatdown of Oregon.

Sam Hoiberg had six steals and helped the Huskers disrupt everything the Ducks tried to run. This was Nebraska’s 21st straight win, and they looked fully in control from the opening tip.

Indiana vs No. 12 Michigan State Recap: Michigan State wins 81-60

Jeremy Fears Jr. took over early with 19 first-half points, finishing with a career-high 23 and 10 assists. Jaxon Kohler added a double-double as Michigan State rolled at home.

Indiana couldn’t match the Spartans’ energy. They were crushed on the boards (37-19) and never got close after halftime. Lamar Wilkerson had 19 in the loss, but it wasn’t nearly enough.

Where Matchups Turn Into Profits

No. 20 Louisville vs No. 16 Virginia Recap: Virginia wins 79-70

Malik Thomas knocked down 6-of-8 from deep and led Virginia with 19 points. The Cavaliers opened the game with a 14-0 run and didn’t look back.

Louisville’s Isaac McKneely had a season-high 23, but the Cardinals never fully recovered from the opening punch. It was Virginia’s first win over a ranked opponent this season.

No. 18 Alabama vs Mississippi State Recap: Alabama wins 97-82

Alabama ended its mini-slide in style. Labaron Philon Jr. dropped 32 on 10-of-14 shooting, and Aiden Sherrell added 22 in a much-needed offensive outburst.

Mississippi State got 23 from Josh Hubbard but struggled with efficiency all night. Alabama was aggressive early and never let the Bulldogs establish tempo — a clean cover and tone-resetting win.

No. 19 Florida vs Oklahoma Recap: Florida wins 96-79

Thomas Haugh poured in 21 points, and Florida ran through Oklahoma with size and second-chance scoring. The Gators outscored the Sooners 60-22 in the paint.

Rueben Chinyelu had a monster game inside with 19 points and 12 boards. Florida’s 43-31 rebounding edge and 22 second-chance points buried any shot Oklahoma had.

Boston College vs No. 22 Clemson Recap: Clemson wins 74-50

Nick Davidson dropped 25 off the bench, and Clemson extended its win streak to eight by shutting down Boston College.

The Tigers converted 19 BC turnovers into 24 points. Fred Payne led the Eagles with 20, but the game got out of hand early, and BC never recovered.

No. 24 Tennessee vs Texas A&M Recap: Tennessee wins 87-82 (2OT)

Nate Ament scored 10 of his 23 points in the overtimes to carry Tennessee past Texas A&M in a wild one. The Volunteers didn’t lead until late in regulation but found ways to score when it mattered.

A&M led for most of the game behind Jacari Lane (20) and Pop Isaacs (16), but late turnovers and missed chances let Tennessee back in. Ament and Gillespie (18) sealed it across two extra periods.
