The Premier League is back following the international break, meaning it’s time for me to share my Matchweek 5 predictions and picks.

Boasting a 100% record after four games, Manchester City sits at the summit of the table. However, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, West Ham United, and Arsenal trail Pep Guardiola’s side by just two points.

You can discover my Matchweek 5 predictions a little later. First, let’s recap Matchweek 4 and go over the odds for this weekend’s fixtures.

What Happened During Matchweek 4?

Matchweek 4 of the 2023-24 English Premier League season did not disappoint. Man City and Tottenham both scored five goals, while Brighton, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Arsenal all scored three.

Here are the Matchweek 4 Premier League results in full:

  • Luton Town 1-2 West Ham United
  • Sheffield United 2-2 Everton
  • Manchester City 5-1 Fulham
  • Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forest
  • Burnley 2-5 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Brentford 2-2 Bournemouth
  • Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 Newcastle United
  • Crystal Palace 3-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers
  • Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa
  • Arsenal 3-1 Manchester United

West Ham kicked off the Matchweek 4 action with a 2-1 victory over Luton Town. However, the standout result of the round came at Stamford Bridge, where Nottingham Forest claimed a rare away win against Chelsea.

Brighton scored over 2.5 goals for the third time in four games, defeating Newcastle United 3-1. Liverpool and Arsenal also netted three goals on their way to dispatching Aston Villa and Manchester United, respectively.

Matchweek 5 Premier League Fixtures and Odds

Before we dive into my Matchweek 5 predictions, we need to assess the odds for this weekend’s fixtures. If you’re serious about finding the best Premier League betting value, be sure to analyze the bookies’ prices in detail.

Here are the Matchweek 5 Premier League odds:

  • Wolverhampton Wanderers (+550) vs. Liverpool (-250)
  • Aston Villa (-110) vs. Crystal Palace (+280)
  • Fulham (-150) vs. Luton Town (+400)
  • Manchester United (+115) vs. Brighton & Hove Albion (+200)
  • Tottenham Hotspur (-350) vs. Sheffield United (+800)
  • West Ham United (+500) vs. Manchester City (-211)
  • Newcastle United (-182) vs. Brentford (+450)
  • Bournemouth (+300) vs. Chelsea (-134)
  • Everton (+450) vs. Arsenal (-200)
  • Nottingham Forest (+110) vs. Burnley (+220)

As you can see, Aston Villa, Fulham, Tottenham and Newcastle are the heavy home favorites this weekend. Manchester United and Nottingham Forest are also expected to triumph on home soil in Matchweek 5.

On the flip side, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal are all favored to win on the road this weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s side has the lowest away price, while Wolverhampton Wanderers are priced at +550, despite their home status.

Did someone say Matchweek 5 predictions?

Premier League Matchweek 5 Predictions

Matchweek 5 gets underway on Saturday, September 16, with Wolves hosting Liverpool in the early kick-off. In total, there are seven games taking place on Saturday, including the eye-catching fixture between Man Utd and Brighton.

On Sunday, September 17, Bournemouth welcomes Chelsea to the Vitality Stadium before Arsenal travels to Goodison Park to take on struggling Everton. Nottingham Forest and Burnley will wrap up Matchweek 5 on Monday, September 18.

Here are my Premier League Matchweek 5 predictions and picks. I have decided to take an in-depth look at the three standout fixtures from a betting perspective, giving you a great chance of landing a profit this weekend.

Aston Villa vs. Crystal Palace Prediction

It would not be unfair to say that Aston Villa has experienced an inconsistent start to the 2023-24 campaign. After enduring a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Newcastle on the opening weekend, the Villains notched four straight wins across all competitions, scoring 15 goals in the process.

Although Villa was brought back down to earth last time out – suffering a 3-0 defeat to Liverpool – Unai Emery’s men will back themselves to return to winning ways on home soil, having racked up seven goals and a couple of clean sheets across two home games this term.

Crystal Palace has made a decent start to the season, taking seven points from a possible 12. Still, I’m confident that Emery’s side will claim all three points at Villa Park, with Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby leading from the front.

Best Bet: Aston Villa (-110)

Manchester United vs. Brighton & Hove Albion Prediction

Brighton heads into Saturday’s showdown with Manchester United on a run of three victories in four outings. Following 4-1 wins against Luton and Wolves, the Seagulls lost 3-1 to West Ham before beating Newcastle by the same scoreline last time out.

As a result, all four of Brighton’s games this season have produced over 3.5 goals, with two of those clashes serving up over 4.5 goals. Roberto De Zerbi’s men are the top scorers in the division, but they also possess the worst defensive record in the top eight.

Man Utd, on the other hand, has recorded two wins and two losses this season. Since the Red Devils have scored four and conceded five across their past two games, I recommend exploring the goal markets for this matchup.

West Ham United vs. Manchester City Prediction

As expected, Manchester City leads the way after four matches. Not only have Pep Guardiola’s men secured four straight wins, but they have also scored 11 goals along the way, keeping two clean sheets for good measure.

Man City thrashed Fulham 5-1 last time out, with Erling Haaland netting a hat-trick. Believe it or not, Haaland has now scored an outrageous 58 goals in 59 appearances for City, including 42 goals in 39 Premier League outings.

That said, West Ham will be confident of frustrating the early frontrunners. Having taken 10 points from a possible 12 this season – scoring over 1.5 goals in each of their previous three matches – the Hammers look set to give the Cityzens a run for their money.
