Welcome to Sports Hub’s Premier League Matchweek 3 review. We may only be three weeks into the new season, but there are already plenty of talking points to chew over

Manchester City boasts a 100% record, while West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Arsenal remain unbeaten. At the opposite end of the standings, Everton, Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United are still waiting for their first points of the season.

Below, we analyze the weekend’s results and discuss all the key betting trends from the EPL. Let’s dive into the Premier League Matchweek 3 review.

Premier League Matchweek 3 Results

What better way to kick off this Premier League Matchweek 3 review than by assessing the weekend’s results? Following two action-packed rounds of fixtures to begin the season, Matchweek 3 certainly lived up to expectations.

  • Chelsea 3-0 Luton Town
  • Bournemouth 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Brentford 1-1 Crystal Palace
  • Arsenal 2-2 Fulham
  • Manchester United 3-2 Nottingham Forest
  • Everton 0-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
  • Brighton & Hove Albion 1-3 West Ham United
  • Sheffield United 1-2 Manchester City
  • Burnley 1-3 Aston Villa
  • Newcastle United 1-2 Liverpool

Chelsea kicked off the weekend’s action with a convincing 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Luton, with Raheem Sterling bagging a brace. In truth, that result set the tone for Matchweek 3.

Nottingham Forest raced into a 2-0 lead after just four minutes at Old Trafford, but Manchester United turned things around to win 3-2. Meanwhile, Arsenal came from behind to lead Fulham 2-1, only for the Cottagers to score a late equalizer.

The drama continued on Sunday, with all three matches producing over 2.5 goals. Despite both teams scoring in each of Sunday’s clashes, Man City, Aston Villa, and Liverpool all won away from home.

Key Betting Trends – Premier League Matchweek 3 Review

This section of our Premier League Matchweek 3 review takes an in-depth look at all the key betting trends in the EPL, from results and points to goals and player stats.

Although we are only three weeks into the EPL season, we already have tons of useful data and statistics to analyze. Certain teams and players have started the new campaign in strong form, while others have failed to hit the ground running.

Hopefully, the information in our Premier League Matchweek 3 review will help you win money in Matchweek 4 and beyond. If you absorb all the info below, you will only enhance your chances of making a profit.

Basic Premier League Betting Trends

Let’s begin with some basic Premier League betting trends. In this section, we discuss the unbeaten teams, winless teams, biggest winners in Matchweek 3, and other interesting stats.

  • Man City is the only team with a 100% record after three matches
  • West Ham, Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal remain unbeaten
  • Everton, Luton, Burnley and Sheff Utd have failed to register a point
  • Chelsea and Man Utd were the only home winners in Matchweek 3
  • Tottenham, Wolves, West Ham, Man City, Aston Villa and Liverpool all won away

Manchester City is the only team with a perfect record in 2023-24. Pep Guardiola’s men are three for three this season, while West Ham, Tottenham, Liverpool, and Arsenal have recorded two wins and one draw.

On the flip side, Everton, Luton, Burnley, and Sheff Utd are still on zero points after Matchweek 3. It is also worth noting that Everton has failed to score a single goal this season, conceding six across defeats to Fulham, Villa and Wolves.

Interestingly, only two teams – Chelsea and Man Utd – triumphed on home soil in Matchweek 3. 60% of the clashes saw the away side come out on top, with Tottenham, Wolves, West Ham, Man City, Aston Villa and Liverpool all winning on the road.

Premier League Betting Trends – Goals

This section of our Premier League Matchweek 3 review focuses on goal stats. With tons of different EPL betting markets relating to goals, it pays to stay up to speed on the latest goal trends.

  • Brighton (9), Aston Villa (8) and West Ham (7) are the highest scorers this season
  • Everton (0), Luton (1) and Burnley (1) are the lowest scorers so far
  • Man City (1), Tottenham (2) and Crystal Palace (2) have conceded the fewest goals
  • Man City (2) and Tottenham (2) have kept the most clean sheets
  • West Ham, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Brighton have a 100% BTTS record
  • Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, and Brighton’s matches have all seen over 2.5 goals
  • Crystal Palace has not been involved in any matches with over 2.5 goals
  • 7 of the 10 Matchweek 3 clashes produced over 2.5 goals
  • Both teams scored in 7 of the 10 Matchday 3 encounters

Averaging three goals per match, Brighton is the highest-scoring team in the Premier League this season. The Seagulls kicked off their campaign with 4-1 victories over Luton and Wolves before suffering a 3-1 defeat to West Ham in Matchweek 3.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Everton has failed to find the back of the net in three outings, while Luton and Burnley have scored just once in two matches.

Man City boasts the best defensive record, followed by Tottenham and Crystal Palace. City kept clean sheets against Burnley and Newcastle before conceding against Sheff Utd last time out, while Spurs have achieved back-to-back shutouts against Man Utd and Bournemouth.

It is also worth pointing out that both teams have scored in all three of West Ham, Liverpool, Forest and Brighton’s matches. On top of that, the BTTS wager landed in seven of the 10 clashes in Matchweek 3.

Premier League Betting Trends – Player Stats

With three rounds of fixtures in the books, it’s time to look at the EPL’s in-form players. Who has scored in seven consecutive Premier League matches? Which three players scored twice in Matchweek 3? It’s time to find out.

  • Bryan Mbeumo, Erling Haaland, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Solly March have scored three goals
  • Taiwo has scored in seven consecutive Premier League matches
  • Jarrod Bowen, Moussa Diaby, and Rodri have registered two goals and one assist
  • James Ward-Prowse, Pervis Estupinan, Mohamed Salah, Kaoru Mitoma, and James Maddison have registered one goal and two assists
  • Ederson and Guglielmo Vicario have kept two clean sheets in three matches
  • Raheem Sterling, Matty Cash, and Darwin Nunez scored twice in Matchweek 3

There were braces for Raheem Sterling, Matty Cash, and Darwin Nunez in Matchweek 3. Sterling guided Chelsea to glory against Luton, Cash scored twice in Villa’s 3-1 win over Burnley, while Nunez came off the bench to fire Liverpool to victory over Newcastle.

With three goals to their name, Bryan Mbeumo, Erling Haaland, Taiwo Awoniyi and Solly March lead the Golden Boot race. Thanks to a strong end to the previous campaign, Awoniyi has scored in seven straight EPL matches, netting nine goals along the way.

Eight other players have chalked up three goal involvements, with Jarrod Bowen, Moussa Diaby and Rodri notching two goals and one assist. At the opposite end of the pitch, Ederson and Guglielmo Vicario lead the Golden Glove race with two clean sheets.
