Leon Draisaitl became the first German-born player to reach 1,000 points, notching the milestone on the first of his four assists as Edmonton beat Pittsburgh.
Connor McDavid powered the Oilers with two goals and two assists. Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard added a goal and an assist each, with Matt Savoie and Vasily Podkolzin also scoring as Edmonton improved to 5-1-1 over its last seven.
In the goaltending subplot after Friday’s trade swap, Tristan Jarry (now with Edmonton) made 26 saves and outdueled Stuart Skinner (now with Pittsburgh), who allowed five goals on 22 shots. Bryan Rust scored again for Pittsburgh (four straight games), while Erik Karlsson and Tommy Novak posted a goal and an assist apiece. Sidney Crosby picked up assist No. 1,722 of his career, moving within one point of Mario Lemieux’s franchise record.
Bruins 4, Mammoth 1
Morgan Geekie delivered his fifth multi-goal game of the season and Boston pulled away with two third-period tallies to beat visiting Utah.
Geekie’s eventual game-winner came 23 seconds into the second period and was his 24th goal of the season. Casey Mittelstadt and Michael Eyssimont also scored, while David Pastrnak added two assists as Boston won its fourth straight at home.
Barrett Hayton scored Utah’s lone goal. Vitek Vanecek made 19 saves and fell to 0-6-1 over his last seven starts.
Blue Jackets 4, Ducks 3 (OT)
Adam Fantilli scored 3:32 into overtime to give Columbus a home win over Anaheim and snap a five-game skid.
Zach Werenski stacked two goals and an assist, Boone Jenner had a goal and an assist, and Kent Johnson added two assists. Jet Greaves stopped 24 shots.
Mikael Granlund had a goal and an assist for Anaheim, with Ryan Strome and Jackson LaCombe also scoring. Ryan Poehling recorded two assists and Ville Husso made 24 saves to close the Ducks’ five-game road trip.
Red Wings 3, Islanders 2
Alex DeBrincat scored two power-play goals, including the winner with 2:17 left, as Detroit rallied past New York.
Axel Sandin-Pellikka scored Detroit’s other goal. Lucas Raymond assisted on all three tallies, Moritz Seider added two assists, and John Gibson made 16 saves as the Red Wings improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight.
Emil Heineman and Scott Mayfield scored for the Islanders, whose three-game win streak ended. Ilya Sorokin stopped 18 shots.
Flyers 4, Canadiens 1
Travis Konecny posted a goal and an assist as Philadelphia snapped a three-game skid (0-0-3) with a road win in Montreal.
Carl Grundstrom, Trevor Zegras, and Bobby Brink scored, and Dan Vladar made 21 saves. Zegras, skating in his 300th NHL game, recorded his 33rd point of the season in just his 32nd game, already surpassing last season’s total.
Alexandre Texier scored for Montreal, and Jacob Fowler made 17 saves as the Canadiens fell to 2-3-1 over their last six.
Canucks 3, Rangers 0
Thatcher Demko stopped 23 shots for the shutout as Vancouver beat New York and continued the Rangers’ home struggles.
Evander Kane and newcomer Liam Ohgren scored early in the first two periods, and Conor Garland added an empty-net, short-handed goal. Vancouver has won both games since dealing Quinn Hughes to Minnesota.
Jonathan Quick made 14 saves. The Rangers dropped to 4-10-3 at home and have been shut out at Madison Square Garden six times this season.
Maple Leafs 3, Blackhawks 2
Toronto scored twice in eight seconds late in the third period to steal a win over Chicago.
Auston Matthews tied it on a power play at 16:51, and Dakota Joshua scored the go-ahead goal at 16:59. Oliver Ekman-Larsson also scored, while Joseph Woll returned from IR and made 23 saves.
Wyatt Kaiser and Jason Dickinson scored for Chicago. Spencer Knight stopped 24 shots as the Blackhawks lost their third straight.
Wild 5, Capitals 0
Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice and added an assist as Minnesota shut out Washington.
Danila Yurov posted a goal and two assists, Matt Boldy scored, and Filip Gustavsson made 25 saves for his third shutout of the season. Kirill Kaprizov recorded his 70th career power-play goal, passing Zach Parise for the Wild’s franchise record.
Alex Ovechkin did not register a shot on goal. Charlie Lindgren allowed five goals on 32 shots as Washington was shut out for the second time this season.
