If you have never bet on just the NBA first half, you are probably missing out. By NBA first half, I’m talking about the first half of an NBA game. Bettors can wager on a full game, one of the four quarters, or on the NBA first half or second half. The standard point spread, moneyline, and totals bets are all available (along with some others) for each quarter and half of an NBA game.

NBA first half bets can be profitable

NBA first half betting can be profitable if done right. There are all sorts of statistics available for the various quarters and halves in the NBA. Plus, bettors have Sports Hub to utilize as a resource. Sports Hub expert handicappers like The Bookie and Sal Lombardi are crushing the books with their NBA picks over the last week. They have been known to include NBA first half bets among their picks.

NBA First Half Betting Stats

As I mentioned, there are numerous NBA first half betting stats available for the average bettor. The New Orleans Pelicans, for example, have one of the better ATS records – 27-21-1 – this season, but in the first half, their numbers are the league’s best. If you had wagered on New Orleans to cover the first half spread in all games this season, you would have an NBA first half betting record of 24-8-1. Even better, the Pelicans are 14-3-1 ATS at home in NBA first half betting and they are 9-0-1 ATS in the first half of their last 10 games.

Bettors can also make NBA first half bets on the Over/Under. The Cleveland Cavaliers have been a strong NBA first half Over team. They have the NBA’s best O/U record right now at 22-11 and in their last 10 games, the NBA first half Over has hit nine times.

On the other end, the Charlotte Hornets have an 11-19-1 NBA first half O/U record. That mark is 3-11-1 at home and in their last 10 games, the Hornets have an NBA first half O/U record of 3-6-1. Only the Houston Rockets (10-21) are worse, but the Rockets first half Over has hit in 7 of the last 10 games.

Soccer Rules the Leaderboard

Our resident soccer expert Geovanny Araya has been killing it over the last three days. Yesterday, he took the No. 1 spot on the leaderboard with $492 in winnings. He is also No. 1 on the 7-day overall leaderboard with over $1400 added to his bankroll.

Not to be outdone, a number of other Sports Hub exclusive handicappers were right behind Geovanny. Guys like The Bookie, Mario Deluca, Sal Lombardi, and Dan Jones made up yesterday’s top-5. If you want to rule your own leaderboard, you need to become a member of SportsHub and get with the program. These guys continue to win and winning never gets old.

Here’s a look at yesterday’s leaderboard.

Geovanny Araya’s soccer picks ruled the board yesterday
  • Soccer expert: As mentioned, Geovanny Araya is smoking hot. He went 3-2 yesterday, but earned another $492. That gives him $1072 over the last three days and $1445 for the week.
  • The Bookie: You can’t really go wrong when your name is The Bookie, right? Yesterday, The Bookie went 4-0 and earned $400. That gives The Bookie a 9-3 record and $570 in winnings over the last three days.
  • Super Mario: Mario Deluca is back among the leaders with a 3-0 record yesterday. That earned him $300 and pushed his 30-day total to $1813.
  • Sal, not Vince, Lombardi: He’s not Vince Lombardi, but Sal surely is as good at handicapping as Vince was at coaching. Yesterday, Sal went 7-4 and came out ahead $260. That gives Sal $3475 in winnings over the last 30 days. That’s a guy you might want to follow…especially if he has any NBA first half bets.
  • Sports Hub experts: Three Sports Hub experts – Dan Jones, Coach Rick, and Sports Hub Free Picks – tied for the fifth spot on yesterday’s leaderboard. All three went 2-0 and earned $200.

Pro Bowl, NFL News, and NBA Star Out

The Pro Bowl Games ended yesterday. A ton of hoopla and fun, but no real football. One good thing is that it is now Super Bowl week. Super Bowl LVIII takes place this Sunday. The Washington Commanders didn’t make the playoffs this year, but they did hire a new coach, Dan Quinn, and yesterday added offensive and defensive coordinators. Read on to find out who they hired. The Sixers will be without their best player for a while. Learn more below.

Here’s what’s trending today.

  • Pro Bowl results: The 2024 Pro Bowl was played yesterday. It was nothing like the Pro Bowls of yesteryear. The NFC recorded a second consecutive victory over the AFC by a score of 64-59.
  • Embiid out: Sixers star and NBA leading scorer Joel Embiid will miss time after undergoing a procedure to repair a meniscus issue in his left knee. Embiid is averaging 35.3 points per game this season. It is not known how long Embiid will be out, but he should be able to return this season. His absence will surely affect NBA first half betting on the Sixers.
  • Washington continues to build staff: The Commanders recently hired Dan Quinn to be the franchise’s next head coach. Now, Washington is adding Kliff Kingsbury as the new offensive coordinator. Kingsbury was very close to becoming the Raiders next OC, but opted for Washington after contract talks broke down. Joe Whitt Jr. will be the Commanders new defensive coordinator.

Bet the NBA First Half Tonight

There are only six NBA games, but that is six opportunities to make NBA first half bets. One of those games features a team with one of the best NBA first half ATS records. The NHL returns after its All-Star weekend and there are betting opportunities in other sports as well.

Let’s look at today’s sports schedule.

  1. The NHL is back: After the All-Star break, the NHL gets back to work, albeit slowly. There are just two games on the schedule tonight. The New York Islanders are at Toronto and the New York Rangers play host to the Colorado Avalanche.
  2. NBA: There are six NBA games on the schedule tonight. One features the New Orleans Pelicans hosting the Toronto Raptors. Remember, the Pelicans have the best NBA first half ATS record…and the best NBA first half ATS record at home.
  3. College basketball: It’s a pretty light CBB schedule tonight. Only one ranked team plays tonight. That is No. 8 Kansas at in-state rival Kansas State. The Jayhawks just beat No. 4 Houston on Saturday.
  4. Soccer: There are some big matches around the world today. In the Premier League, Brentford plays Manchester City. In Spain’s La Liga, Rayo Vallecano takes on Sevilla and AS Roma plays Cagliari in Italy’s Serie A. There are other matches in leagues around the world. Check the Sports Hub members’ area for soccer picks.
  1. Pebble Beach: The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am final was postponed until today. Bad weather was going to force golfers to finish up today with play resuming at 8 a.m. ET. However, because of the weather, the PGA Tour declared the event complete after 54 holes. Wyndham Clark was declared the winner.
  2. WTA & ATP Tennis Tours: Alexander Bublik won the Open Sud de France yesterday. The Cordoba Open continues today in Argentina. The Open 13 Provence and Dallas Open are both underway too. On the women’s tour, three more tournaments – L&T Mumbai Open, Transylvania Open, Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open – continue today.
