Soccer bettors should consider betting on Ligue 1 totals this week. It is clear that the French top-flight can offer some serious value! The Under has been a very common trend for some time now.

The soccer season is an extremely long one. The top European leagues are already 11 or 12 games into the campaign. Yet, we aren’t even a third of the way through the season. That’s why it is extremely important to keep on top of the latest betting trends.

That’s exactly what my weekly European soccer report is doing. Each week, I have been analyzing Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A and La Liga results, providing you with all the key statistics and tendencies before you make your picks for the weekend. This time around, it may be a good idea to bet on Ligue 1 totals.

European Soccer Weekly Review – Bet Ligue 1 Totals

Betting on totals is a simple but effective way of making money on soccer. It can be hard to determine the outcome for a given match. However, using statistics, it can be easier to highlight key goal-scoring trends to help you with totals. That’s why I usually focus on either Overs or Unders when it comes to my European soccer reports.

Targeting the Unders, in particular, can be an excellent strategy when it comes to wagering on soccer. Score lines of ‘0-0’ and ‘1-0’ are the most common results. This is extremely important because sportsbooks usually set the Over/Under total at 2.5 goals.

Here are the top-five most common soccer results:

  • 1-1
  • 1-0
  • 2-1
  • 0-0
  • 0-1

Just one of the top-five most common soccer score lines sees over 2.5 goals. However, the public loves betting on Overs because they want high-scoring, entertaining matches. That means we can find more value by focusing on the Unders. That’s why I’m talking about Ligue 1 totals this week.

Euro Soccer Betting Trends – Trust Ligue 1 Totals

As many of you will know, Ligue 1 Unders have consistently landed this season. Only 22.22% of Ligue 1 matches saw over 2.5 goals during Week 11. Only 37.5% of games during Week 10 had over 2.5 goals, whilst just 44.44% of matches saw over 2.5 goals during Week 9.

The top division in France is one of the lowest-scoring leagues in Europe. Check out the league totals so far:

  • Ligue 1 total goals – 249 (Average of 12.8 per team)
  • Bundesliga total goals – 328 (Average of 18.2 per team)
  • Serie A total goals – 280 (Average of 14 per team)
  • La Liga total goals – 334 (Average of 16.7 per team)

As you can see, Ligue 1 averages the lowest goals per team across the rest of the other top Euro leagues. Therefore, that is the league you should be looking at when it comes to Unders.

Ligue 1 Totals – Team Analysis

Of course, some teams are more likely to hit the Unders than others when it comes to Ligue 1 totals. Therefore, you need to be identifying the most common sides that regularly see Under 2.5 goals.

Here are some basic statistics to consider when it comes to Ligue 1 totals:

  • PSG (26) and Monaco (25) have scored the most amount of goals in Ligue 1
  • Nantes and Lorient (20) have conceded the most goals in the league
  • Clermont have scored the least goals in the division (7)
  • Lyon (8), Metz (9), Strasbourg (9) and Brest (11) are other low-scoring teams
  • Nice (4) have the best defensive record in Ligue 1
  • PSG have conceded just nine goals this season

We can also dig a little deeper when analyzing the Totals market. By specifically examining the Under 2.5 goals market, we can see which teams are regularly hitting the Unders.

Check out the key statistics for the Unders in Ligue 1 totals:

  • Nice has seen 91% of their games have Under 2.5 goals
  • Lille has an Under 2.5 goals percentage of 73%, whilst Brest sit at 64%
  • 60% of Clermont’s games have had Under 2.5 goals
  • 100% of home games for Nice have resulted in Under 2.5 goals
  • 80% of home matches for both Lille and Clermont have seen Under 2.5 goals
  • Nice and Rennes have seen 80% of their away outings have Under 2.5 goals
  • Under 2.5 goals has hit in 75% of Lyon’s away matches

Teams such as Nice, Lille, Brest, Clermont, Rennes and Lyon could all be potential teams to consider for Unders when it comes to Ligue 1 totals.

European Soccer Weekly Review – Ligue 1 Totals are Profitable

I love the value that you can find by backing the Under when it comes to totals. Bookmakers often set the price at around -110. However, Overs are often a lot shorter in price, largely due to the public backing.

After investigating Ligue 1 totals this week, it seems pretty clear that Under 2.5 goals will regularly hit. I will certainly be using this data before making my Euro soccer picks.
