The international break can only mean one thing – Euro 2024 qualifiers picks. With the top domestic leagues on hold for a fortnight, it’s time to turn our attention to international soccer picks.

As we head into Matchday 5 of 10, the race to reach next summer’s European Championship is heating up. 53 nations are battling to qualify for the tournament, but there is only room for 24 teams in Germany.

Today, I will be sharing my Euro 2024 qualifiers picks for Matchday 5. Before we get to my picks, though, let’s remind ourselves how qualifying works and also look at some key betting trends.

How Does Euro 2024 Qualifying Work?

A total of 53 UEFA member associations are spread across 10 groups – seven groups of five teams and three groups of six teams. Each nation plays the other teams in their group both home and away, registering three points for a win, one point for a draw, and zero points for a loss.

At the end of the qualification process, the top two teams in each group will punch their ticket to next summer’s European Championship in Germany. The remaining four places will be filled by Nations League playoff winners.

Scotland, France, England, and Portugal are already on the verge of qualifying for the tournament, having notched four wins from four games. On the flip side, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Malta, Latvia, San Marino, and Liechtenstein have failed to pick up a single point.

It’s almost time for me to reveal my Euro 2024 qualifiers picks for Matchday 5. First, let’s go over some useful Euro 2024 qualifiers betting trends to get the juices flowing!

Euro 2024 Qualifiers Betting Trends

As I already mentioned, Scotland, France, England, and Portugal have all secured four successive victories. Which teams also remain unbeaten? Which nations have failed to win so far? Who are the top scorers and assisters?

Lucky for you, I answer those questions – and a whole lot more – before diving into my Euro 2024 qualifiers picks. Here are the key betting trends to consider.

  • Scotland, France, England and Portugal boast a 100% record
  • Croatia, Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Serbia, Switzerland, Romania and Slovakia remain unbeaten
  • Cyprus, Gibraltar, Malta, Latvia, San Marino, and Liechtenstein have failed to register a point
  • Faroe Islands, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Kosovo and Andorra remain winless
  • England (15), Portugal (14) and Switzerland (12) are the highest-scoring teams
  • Gibraltar, San Marino, and Liechtenstein have failed to score a goal
  • France, Hungary, and Portugal have not conceded a goal
  • Denmark’s Rasmus Hojlund (6) and Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku (6) are the top scorers
  • Harry Kane, Scott McTominay, Cristiano Ronaldo and Zeki Amdouni have scored five goals
  • Finland’s Teemu Pukki (4) has registered the most assists
  • Dodi Lukebakio, Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson, and Olimpiu Morutan have registered three assists

Scotland, France, England and Portugal have grabbed the headlines by winning all their matches, but it is worth noting that Croatia, Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Serbia, Switzerland, Romania and Slovakia also remain unbeaten.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Malta, Latvia, San Marino, and Liechtenstein are the only teams to have lost all their games, while the Faroe Islands, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Kosovo and Andorra have also failed to taste victory.

If you enjoy betting the goal markets, England, Portugal, and Switzerland are the teams to target. In addition to averaging 3.5 goals per game, Portugal heads into Matchday 5 on the back of four successive clean sheets.

Best Euro 2024 Qualifiers Picks

The action kicks off on Thursday, September 7, but my Euro 2024 qualifiers picks begin on Friday, September 8. High-flying Portugal travels to Slovakia, while Turkey hosts Armenia.

I will also be sharing my prediction and pick for the standout match on Saturday, September 9. In-form England visits Poland to take on Ukraine, with the Ukrainians unable to play in their country due to safety concerns.

It’s time to dive into my Euro 2024 qualifiers picks, starting with Friday’s clash between Slovakia and Portugal. Can Cristiano Ronaldo work his magic once again?

Slovakia vs. Portugal Prediction

Odds: Slovakia (+600); Draw (+320); Portugal (-200)

As we already know, Portugal sits at the summit of Group J after picking up four straight wins. Better still, the Euro 2016 champions have scored 14 goals while keeping four clean sheets, highlighting their strength at both ends of the pitch.

That said, Slovakia has managed to keep pace with Portugal throughout the campaign. Thanks to a run of three wins and one draw, the Slovakians find themselves two points behind Portugal, having conceded a solitary goal along the way.

Regardless of Slovakia’s recent record, I’m backing the Portuguese to maintain their 100% record on Friday. With world-class stars like Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo leading the way, Portugal shouldn’t struggle to overcome Slovakia.

Best Bet: Portugal (-200)

Turkey vs. Armenia Prediction

Odds: Turkey (-334); Draw (+400); Armenia (+800)

When these two sides met back on Matchday 1, Turkey came from behind to win the reverse fixture 2-1. Not only did the Cresent-Stars enjoy the lion’s share of possession on that occasion, but they also racked up 12 shots.

Since then, Turkey has recorded two wins and one loss. Following a 2-1 defeat against Croatia, Stefan Kuntz’s men claimed back-to-back victories over Latvia (3-2) and Wales (2-0).

It is worth noting, however, that Armenia has also enjoyed plenty of success since Matchday 1, thrashing Wales 4-2 before defeating Latvia 2-1. Turkey is the bookies’ favorite here, but the Armenians will fancy their chances of upsetting the odds.

Ukraine vs. England Prediction

Odds: Ukraine (+650); Draw (+333); England (-267)

England claimed a 2-0 victory over Ukraine in the reverse fixture back in March, racking up 58% possession and 18 shots in the process. Since then, the Three Lions have crushed Malta (4-0) and North Macedonia (7-0), asserting their dominance over Group C.

After losing the Euro 2020 final on penalties, Gareth Southgate’s men are determined to go one better next summer. If their recent form is anything to go by, they will qualify for Euro 2024 without any problems.

As for the Ukrainians, they have recorded two wins and one loss so far. Despite victories over North Macedonia (3-2) and Malta (1-0), the Ukrainians will surely struggle to gain their revenge on England this time around.
