Tail our expert CFL Week 4 picks to build your bankroll on the Canada Day long weekend. Canada Day is on Saturday and most Canadians have Monday off work. There are only three games on the schedule.

The Redblacks host the Elks on Friday night, the Alouettes host the Blue Bombers on Saturday and the Argonauts host the Lions on Monday. We have CFL Week 4 picks for all three match-ups.

CFL Week 3 Results and Betting Recap

First, let’s recap CFL Week 3 and look at the results:

  • Lions 30 vs. Blue Bombers 6 – Lions (+6) Covered ATS and Under 49
  • Alouettes 38 vs. Tiger-Cats 12 – Alouettes (+2.5) Covered ATS and Over 44
  • Roughriders 29 vs. Stampeders 26 – Roughriders (+2.5) Covered ATS and Over 45.5.
  • Argonauts 43 vs. Elks 31 – Argonauts (-6.5) Covered ATS and Over 44.5

Underdogs dominated in CFL Week 3 action. The Lions, Alouettes and Roughriders all won as dogs. We also saw more points scored with three games going over. On the season, favorites are 6-6 SU and 6-6 ATS. The over/under record is now sitting at 5-7 this season.

I ended up going 3-2 (+$105) last week after a tough 0-2 start. I have made a profit every week of the CFL season for Sports Hub members. I’m 8-3 (+$515) on my CFL predictions to begin the season.

Elks vs. Redblacks Prediction for Week 4

  • When: Friday, June 30th 2023 at 7:30 PM ET
  • Where: TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario
  • Opening Spread: Redblacks -3.5 / Current Spread: Redblacks -2.5
  • Opening Total: 42.5 Points / Current Total: 42.5 Points

The Edmonton Elks (0-3 / 0-3 ATS) and Ottawa Redblacks (0-2 / 0-2 ATS) are the worst teams in the CFL. The Redblacks are coming off a bye week, but QB Jeremiah Masoli still isn’t ready to play.

Ottawa will be starting Tyrie Adams at QB. He entered the Redblacks Week 2 game after Nick Arbuckle was pulled, but he only went 9/16 for 122 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT. The Redblacks scored 12 points in Week 1 and 15 points in Week 2, which ranks them last in the league in scoring (13.5 PPG).

Edmonton haven’t been much better offensively. The Elks are scoring 14.7 PPG (8th), but they’re coming off their best offensive performance, as they put up 31 points against Toronto. QB Jarret Doege entered last week’s game after Taylor Cornelius was pulled and he went 9/11 for 163 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT.

There has been no confirmation on who the Elks are starting at QB on Friday night. It doesn’t matter to me, as both QBs are bad. The Elks top WR Geno Lewis is out with a knee injury as well.

With both teams banged up on offense, I’ll be jumping on the under despite the low total. The under is 9-1 in the last ten H2H games and 4-1 in the last five H2H games played in Ottawa.

Best Bet: Under 42.5 Points

Blue Bombers vs. Alouettes Prediction for Week 4

  • When: Saturday, July 1st 2023 at 7:00 PM ET
  • Where: Percival Molson Memorial Stadium in Montreal, Quebec
  • Opening Spread: Blue Bombers -5 / Current Spread: Blue Bombers -5.5
  • Opening Total: 48.5 Points / Current Total: 48.5 Points

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-1 / 2-1 ATS) were crushed last week and the offense struggled. They were held to two field goals. QB Zach Collaros went 15/26 for 191 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT.

The Montreal Alouettes (2-0 / 2-0 ATS) put up 38 points last week against Hamilton. QB Cody Fajardo went 19/25 for 292 yards and 2 TDs in the win. Fajardo is completing 73.3% of his passes and hasn’t thrown an interception yet. The Als are scoring 28.5 PPG (3rd) and allowing 12.0 PPG (2nd).

Winnipeg are scoring 31.0 PPG (2nd) and allowing 29.3 PPG (8th). Montreal have struggled to put much pressure on opposing QBs and are averaging 1.5 sacks made per game (8th). Collaros was sacked seven times by the Lions last week, but he’ll have more time in the pocket against the Als.

In the last two seasons, the Als are 2-2 (3-1 ATS) against the Bombers. The over/under is 2-1-1 during that same stretch. Will Winnipeg bounce back or will the Alouettes remain undefeated?

Lions vs. Argonauts Prediction for Week 4

  • When: Monday, July 3rd 2023 at 7:00 PM ET
  • Where: BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario
  • Opening Spread: Lions PK / Current Spread: Lions -2.5
  • Opening Total: 47 Points / Current Total: 47.5 Points

The BC Lions (3-0 / 3-0 ATS) are for real. The addition of QB Vernon Adams Jr. has been huge. He’s tied for first in passing TDs (5), 2nd in passing yards (861) and 2nd in completion percentage (73%).

The Toronto Argonauts (2-0 / 2-0 ATS) haven’t suffered a Grey Cup hangover despite starting a new QB. QB Chad Kelly is tied for 1st in rushing TDs (3), but he has struggled through the air. Kelly has completed just 58.7% of his passes and he has thrown more INTs (2) than passing TDs (1).

Toronto lead the league in scoring (37.5 PPG) and rank T3 in points allowed (22.5 PPG). The Lions rank 1st in points allowed (7.0 PPG) and 4th in scoring (25.7 PPG). BC rank 3rd in sacks made per game (3.7) and will pressure Kelly. The Argos have the best rushing attack in the CFL (152.0 RYPG), though.

Last season, these two teams split the H2H series (1-1) with both teams winning and covering the spread at home. Both of the H2H meetings went under the total. This will be the Argos toughest test to start the season. Will they continue putting up tons of points against a stout Lions defense?
