Stampeders vs. Redblacks Predictions for Week 2

When: Thursday, June 15th 2023 at 7:30 PM ET

Where: TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario

Opening Spread: Stampeders -4.5 / Current Spread: Stampeders -6.5

Opening Total: 42.5 Points / Current Total: 43 Points

The Stampeders (0-1 / 0-1 ATS) take on the Redblacks (0-1 / 0-1 ATS) tonight. Calgary’s QB Jake Maier went 20/36 for just 156 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in Week 1. RB Ka’Deem Carey was injured in last week’s loss and was placed on the six-game injured list yesterday, which is bad news for Stamps fans.

Ottawa had a rough Week 1 outing and the main problem was the lack of scoring. The Redblacks had to settle for four field goals (0 TDs). Last season, the Redblacks only averaged 21.1 PPG and 1.8 offensive touchdowns per game. Ottawa also went 0-9 at home last season and 1-6 the season prior.

With both offenses struggling and dealing with injuries, points will be at a premium.

Blue Bombers vs. Roughriders Predictions for Week 2

When: Friday, June 16th 2023 at 9:00 PM ET

Where: Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan

Opening Spread: Blue Bombers -5 / Current Spread: Blue Bombers -6.5

Opening Total: 47.5 Points / Current Total: 47.5 Points

The Blue Bombers (1-0 / 1-0 ATS) have moved from -5 to -6.5 at most CFL betting sites. Winnipeg were up 29-4 against the Ti-Cats in Week 1 at halftime before letting off the gas. QB Zach Collaros had the best QB performance in Week 1, as he went 21/31 for 354 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs.

Saskatchewan (1-0 / 1-0 ATS) defeated the Elks in Week 1, but it wasn’t impressive. QB Trevor Harris was also banged up at the end of the game. He’s expected to start on Friday, but isn’t 100%. Harris also struggled against the Elks, going 20/33 for 179 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs.

Winnipeg will put up points, but the Roughriders have an elite defensive line. Saskatchewan finished last week with five sacks (loss of 32 yards). Looking at recent H2H trends, the Blue Bombers are 6-0 (4-2 ATS) against Saskatchewan dating back to 2021. Will the Roughriders keep this game close at home?

More CFL Week 2 Picks: Elks vs. Lions Predictions for Week 2

When: Saturday, June 17th 2023 at 7:00 PM ET

Where: BC Place in Vancouver, Canada

Opening Spread: Lions -6 / Current Spread: Lions -7

Opening Total: 45.5 Points / Current Total: 45.5 Points

We haven’t seen much line movement for the Elks (0-1 / 0-1 ATS) vs. Lions (1-0 / 1-0 ATS) matchup. BC Place will be rocking for the home opener after the Lions defeated the Stamps in Calgary last week.

Edmonton were winless at home (0-9), but went 4-5 on the road last season. These teams played each other three times last season. BC went 3-0 (3-0 ATS) and outscored the Elks 136-43. Edmonton are projected to be a better team this season, but they need to watch the turnovers (3 TOs in Week 1).

QB Vernon Adams Jr. is in his first season with the Lions. He went 28/36 for 270 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT last week. He also had 10 carries for 35 yards and 1 TD. The Elks will need to contain Adams Jr. and score more than a single offensive touchdown if they want to get in the win column this weekend.

Tiger-Cats vs. Argonauts Predictions for Week 2

When: Sunday, June 18th 2023 at 7:00 PM ET

Where: BMO Field in Toronto, Canada

Opening Spread: Argonauts -2.5 / Current Spread: Tiger-Cats -2

Opening Total: 46.5 Points / Current Total: 46.5 Points

The Argonauts (0-0 / 0-0 ATS) host the Tiger-Cats (0-1 / 0-1 ATS) in the Battle of the QEW to conclude CFL week 2 action. Toronto had a Week 1 bye and are the defending Grey Cup champions.

Things will be different in Toronto this year. Last season, QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw for 4731 yards and the Argos averaged 24.6 PPG. He left for the USFL and now former Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly will be starting for Toronto. The Argos should have a potent run game, though, as Kelly can pick up big chunks of yards with his feet, plus RBs A.J. Ouellette and Andrew Harris will be a formidable duo.

Hamilton had an awful 1st half against Winnipeg last week, but they ended up closing the gap and scoring 31 points. After ten seasons with the Stamps, QB Bo Levi Mitchell is now the Ti-Cats starter. He’ll need to improve his accuracy, as he only completed 17/33 passes for 197 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs last week.

Since 2021, the Argos are 6-3 (5-3-1 ATS) in H2H games against Hamilton. Five of those games were at home and the Argos went 4-1 (3-1-1 ATS) in those. Will Toronto open the season with a win at home?
