Roughriders vs. Redblacks Prediction

  • When: Friday, September 22nd 2023 at 7:00 PM ET
  • Where: TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario
  • Opening Spread: Roughriders -2 / Current Spread: Roughriders -2
  • Opening Total: 44 Points / Current Total: 45 Points

The Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-7 / 6-6-1 ATS) are 0-2 ATS as a favorite this season. The Roughriders defeated the Ottawa Redblacks (3-10 / 5-8 ATS) back in Week 9 by two points (26-24) as an underdog.

Saskatchewan are scoring 21.2 PPG (8th) and allowing 29.9 PPG (9th). They have a weak running game (83.4 RYPG – 8th), but the Riders offense averages 267.6 PYPG (4th). The Redblacks allow 325.8 PYPG (9th), which means the Roughriders should be able to move the football through the air.

The Redblacks score 24.0 PPG (4th) and allow 27.0 PPG (8th). Ottawa averages 131.3 RYPG (3rd) and will look to establish the run against the Roughriders defense (121.8 RYPG – 6th). The Redblacks have scored 20+ points and allowed 25+ points in six consecutive games. I’m betting the over.

Best Bet: Over 45 Points (-110)

Lions vs. Elks Prediction

  • When: Friday, September 22nd 2023 at 9:30 PM ET
  • Where: Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta
  • Opening Spread: Lions -7.5 / Current Spread: Lions -6
  • Opening Total: 50 Points / Current Total: 50 Points

The BC Lions (9-4 / 7-5-1 ATS) take on the Edmonton Elks (4-10 / 6-7-1 ATS) in Week 16. The Lions had a huge comeback last week. Down 37-18 after three quarters, the Lions outscore the Redblacks 23-0 in the fourth quarter. The Lions scored 20 points in the final 2:23 to pull off the incredible comeback.

BC are in the top three in scoring (26.9 PPG – 3rd) and points allowed (21.5 PPG – 2nd). They’re the only offense averaging more than 300.0 PYPG (309.1 PYPG – 1st). Edmonton are allowing 257.9 PYPG (6th). The Elks have the best rushing attack in the CFL (133.4 RYPG). They had 265 rushing yards last week.

Edmonton are 0-2 (0-2 ATS) against the Lions this season and they haven’t scored a point. Edmonton will score this week, but who will cover ATS? Login to Sports Hub to access my CFL Week 16 predictions.

Alouettes vs. Stampeders Prediction

  • When: Saturday, September 23rd 2023 at 4:00 PM ET
  • Where: McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta
  • Opening Spread: Alouettes -2 / Current Spread: Alouettes -1
  • Opening Total: 47 Points / Current Total: 47 Points

The Montreal Alouettes (6-7 / 6-7 ATS) have lost four consecutive games. The Calgary Stampeders (4-9 / 5-7-1 ATS) are coming off a bye week. The Als defeated the Stamps in Week 8 (25-18) at home.

Calgary are scoring 23.5 PPG (5th) and allowing 26.9 PPG (7th). Calgary rank seventh in passing yards (255.6 PYPG) and rushing yards (93.1 RYPG). Montreal’s offense averages 97.7 RYPG (5th) and 261.8 PYPG (6th). The Alouettes are scoring 22.8 PPG (6th) and allowing 24.8 PPG (4th).

Montreal are 4-1 ATS as a favorite this season. Calgary are 2-4 SU at home. QB Jake Maier is second in passing yards (3,310), but he has only thrown 14 passing TDs (4th). The Stamps have made 35 sacks (4th) and will get pressure on the QB. Sign-up to Sports Hub to get all of our CFL Week 16 predictions.

Tiger-Cats vs. Argonauts Prediction

  • When: Saturday, September 23rd 2023 at 7:00 PM ET
  • Where: BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario
  • Opening Spread: Argonauts -10 / Current Spread: Argonauts -10
  • Opening Total: 49 Points / Current Total: 49 Points

The Toronto Argonauts (11-1 / 9-3 ATS) are 6-0 (5-1 ATS) at home. Toronto are 3-0 (3-0 ATS) against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (6-7 / 6-7 ATS) this season. The H2H over/under record is 1-2 this season.

Toronto have rushed for 110+ yards in each game against the Ti-Cats this season. Toronto’s run offense ranks fourth (117.1 RYPG), while Hamilton are allowing 123.4 RYPG (7th). The Argonauts lead the CFL in scoring (34.2 PPG) and allow 22.0 PPG (3rd). Hamilton score 21.8 PPG (7th) and allow 26.8 PPG (6th).

The Argonauts have defeated Hamilton by 13 points, 16 points and 18 points this season. With the East locked up, will Toronto continue piling up the points to close out the regular season? CFL Week 16 Predictions – Touchdown Scorers

CFL touchdown scorer props have been released. I expect lots of scoring in this week’s opener between the Roughriders vs. Redblacks. I’m backing Shawn Bane Jr. to score an anytime touchdown. He’s coming off one of his best performances of the season, as he hauled in two touchdowns last week.

Bane Jr. only has four touchdowns this season, but one of them came against Ottawa. These two teams have played once this season. Bane Jr. had six receptions for 88 yards and 1 TD in that game.

Best Bet: Shawn Bane Jr. to Score a TD (+185)
