Caitlin Clark is the best women’s college basketball player in the country. She will etch her name in the NCAA record books one more time tonight when her Iowa Hawkeyes host the Michigan Wolverines in a Big Ten matchup. Clark, a 6-0 guard, is just eight points shy of the NCAA career record for points scored. Caitlin Clark averages 32.1 points per game this season and Iowa (22-3) is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation.

It’s rare that a women’s college basketball player gets so much hype, but Caitlin Clark is something special. When Iowa played Nebraska on the road last week, there were over 1,000 people waiting outside of Pinnacle Bank Arena in hopes of scoring tickets. The game had been sold out for six weeks. That’s the Caitlin Clark effect. Tickets for that Nebraska game on the secondary market were going for over $1,000!

The Legend of Caitlin Clark

With eight points tonight, Caitlin Clark will become the all-time leading scorer in NCAA women’s college basketball history. She will pass Kelsey Plum, who scored 3,527 points for Washington from 2013-17. Clark will do it with four more games (after tonight) left on the schedule. Then, Iowa will run through the Big Ten tournament before Caitlin Clark attempts to lead the Hawkeyes back to the NCAA women’s tournament Final Four.

Caitlin Clark was the big reason why Iowa played in its first-ever national championship game last season. Iowa lost to LSU, but Clark made her mark. She was the consensus national player of the year, an honor she will likely win again this year. Clark became the first player in history to record 900 points and 300 assists in a season.

Caitlin Clark needs eight points tonight to move into the No. 1 spot

Clark’s accomplishments are legendary. Caitlin Clark has 11 40-point games in her career, including three this season. That’s the most in NCAA history. She has 52 30-point games (15 this season), which is also the most in the NCAA over the last 25 years. Her 15 triple-doubles is second only to Sabrina Ionescu (26). There is more, but one thing is certain. Caitlin Clark is worth watching tonight.

A Dominant Effort on the Leaderboard

As dominant as Caitlin Clark is on the basketball court, that’s how dominant Sports Hub exclusive handicappers are on my daily leaderboard. Yesterday, the top-6 spots on the leaderboard were occupied by cappers that you can only find here at Sports Hub.

The overall leader was Sean Kuchman who hit six of his eight picks to earn $380. Five more SportsHub guys were right behind him, all earning at least $284 yesterday.

Let’s take a look at who they were.

Sports Hub guys do it again!
  • Big Sean: As mentioned, Sean Kuchman was our top capper yesterday. A 20-year veteran in the industry, Sean went 6-2 and took home $380. All of his picks were on NHL games and half of them were NHL props.
  • Dan the Man: Dan Jones went 3-1 yesterday to earn $357. Dan is now up over $1000 for the last 30 days.
  • Frankie & Gino: Both Frankie the Fan and Gino De Luca went 3-0 yesterday and took home $300. Frankie has had himself a solid week with $630 in winnings for the last seven days. Gino is no slouch either. He’s up $500 over the last three days and he’s currently third on our 30-day leaderboard with a winning percentage of 67.21 and winnings of $2122.
  • Back again: SWJ Sports is back among our top cappers again. Yesterday, SWJ Sports hit on five of eight picks and added $285 to the bankroll. Over the last three days, SWJ Sports is 14-6 and has earned $805. That is No. 1 on the three-day leaderboard!
  • Joe Berra: It’s been a minute, but Joe is back among our top daily cappers. Yesterday, he went 4-1 and took home $284. Joe loves hockey and yesterday he nailed both of his NHL picks.

Trending Sports News

It’s sad to report, but the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade was interrupted by gunfire. One person is reported dead and 22 others were injured in the shooting. There is a lot of other sports news including a huge Celtics win, a change in San Francisco, and some news about the upcoming Daytona 500.

Let’s check it out.

  • Celtics win by 50: The Boston Celtics crushed the Brooklyn Nets last night 136-86. The 50-point win was the Celtics second of the season, which makes them just the third team in NBA history to record multiple 50-point wins in a season. Boston will finish the first half of the season with an NBA-best 43-12 record. The win was also the 100th career victory for head coach Joe Mazzulla.
  • 49ers fire DC: After just one season with San Francisco, defensive coordinator Steve Wilks has been fired. The 49ers took a step backward on defense this season, even though they were still third in points allowed per game (17.5) this season.

  • Logano, McDowell up front: Ford swept the qualifying for this weekend’s Daytona 500. Joey Logano and Michael McDowell, former race winners, will be up front when Sunday’s event starts.
  • NHL losing streaks: Arizona and Chicago have each lost their last seven games in a row. They are tied for the longest losing streak in the NHL right now. Chicago hosts Pittsburgh, which has lost three straight, tonight. Arizona plays Carolina tomorrow night.

Caitlin Clark Goes for Record Tonight Against Michigan

Yes, it will finally happen tonight. Iowa star Caitlin Clark needs eight points to overtake the top spot on the NCAA women’s college basketball all-time scoring list. Iowa (22-3, 11-2) hosts Michigan (16-9, 7-6) tonight. There are also three games featuring ranked teams in men’s college basketball too. The NBA and NHL have games tonight and there is always international soccer somewhere around the globe.

Here’s a look at today’s sports schedule.

  2. NCAAW: While Caitlin Clark is the big news tonight, there is another huge game in women’s college basketball. No. 6 NC State travels to No. 16 Notre Dame in a big ACC clash.
  3. NBA: It’s the last night before the All-Star break and only three games are on the schedule. Milwaukee is at Memphis in tonight’s game on TNT. Golden State, which lost to the Clippers last night to break a five-game winning streak, is at Utah. Western Conference leader Minnesota is at Portland (15-38).
  4. NHL: There are 12 NHL games on the schedule tonight. Dallas is at Nashville in the ESPN+/Hulu game tonight. Edmonton is at St. Louis. The Oilers 16-game winning streak came to an end, but they have still won 8 of their last 10 games.

There are eight more UEFA Europa Conference League matches and there are two matches in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. That’s not all, either. Check out Sports Hub members’ area for soccer picks on matches around the world.
  2. Golf: The Genisis Invitational gets started today. Jon Rahm won it last year. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the favorite at +650 to win this year’s event.
  3. Tennis: Round 2 will be completed today in three ATP Tour events – the IEB+ Argentina Open, the AB Amro Open, and the Delray Beach Open. The women begin quarterfinal play in the Qatar Total Energies Open today.
  4. NASCAR: Duel #2 takes place today to set the outside lanes in Sunday’s Daytona 500. Action starts at 8:45 p.m. tonight. Check out our Daytona 500 preview.

For a random Thursday in February, that is a pretty big sports schedule. There is plenty of betting value out there. If you followed women’s college basketball this season, you could have bet on which game Caitlin Clark would break the scoring record. If you were fortunate enough to bet earlier this season on tonight’s game, you’d be a big winner.
