United States Sweeps Taiwan 4-0 to Secure Davis Cup Qualification
The United States dominated Taiwan with a 4-0 victory in Saturday’s Davis Cup qualifiers in Taipei City, led by Olympic silver medalists Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram.
Krajicek and Ram delivered in doubles, defeating Ray Ho and Wu Tung-lin 6-4, 7-6 (4), securing Team USA’s first home tie in three years.
“Fortunately, we were able to finish the job in the first match. We took care of our serve really well,” Krajicek said post-match.
Mackenzie McDonald sealed the flawless sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Huang Tsung-hao. The Americans did not drop a single service game throughout the tie.
Other nations also fought hard for Davis Cup qualification:
- Denmark mounted an incredible comeback from 0-2 down to defeat Serbia in Copenhagen.
- Japan overcame a 2-1 deficit, with Kei Nishikori securing the 3-2 win over Billy Harris in Miki, Japan, with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
- Austria secured a 4-0 sweep over Finland in Schwechat, Austria.
- Germany won 3-1 against Israel in Vilnius, Lithuania.
- Australia defeated Sweden 3-1 in Stockholm.
- Croatia advanced with a 3-1 win over Slovakia in Osijek, Croatia.

Aleksandar Kovacevic Stuns Andrey Rublev, Advances to First ATP Final
American qualifier Aleksandar Kovacevic continued his impressive run with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over No. 1 seed Andrey Rublev at the Open Occitanie in Montpellier, France, securing a spot in his first-ever ATP final.
Kovacevic, ranked No. 102 in the world, has now won 12 of his last 13 matches. In a closely contested match, he edged Rublev in aces (9-8) and saved four of five break points, while Rublev converted just two of five opportunities.
Kovacevic will face No. 2 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada in the final. Auger-Aliassime advanced with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over Jesper de Jong of the Netherlands.
