Top seed Ben Shelton saw his run halted by 19-year-old qualifier Learner Tien, who posted a 6–4, 7–6 (2) victory in one hour and 40 minutes. Tien, ranked No. 67, committed just 22 unforced errors compared to Shelton’s 38, turning the tide after Shelton’s early 4–1 lead in the second set.

Tien will take on France’s Corentin Moutet, who edged eighth seed Daniel Altmaier 7–6 (3), 7–6 (3) to reach his first quarterfinal of the season. In other action, third seed Alex Michelsen dispatched American qualifier Brandon Holt 6–4, 6–4, and veteran seventh seed Roberto Bautista Agut downed Bernard Tomic 6–3, 6–3, setting up a quarterfinal clash with Michelsen.

Great Britain’s Daniel Evans produced the upset of the day, capitalizing on second seed Tommy Paul’s 42 unforced errors to prevail 6–4, 3–6, 6–3. Despite Paul’s 31 winners and 10 break-point saves, Evans’s consistency and timely aggression earned him a spot in Friday’s quarterfinals.

Top seed Taylor Fritz and Brazilian teenager João Fonseca will need Thursday to decide their second-round match after darkness suspended play with Fritz leading 6–3, 6–7 (5). Meanwhile, third seed Jakub Mensik, fourth seed Ugo Humbert, and Americans Marcos Giron (over eighth seed Nuno Borges) and Jenson Brooksby all advanced in straight sets. Great Britain’s Billy Harris also moved on, and Spain’s sixth seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina recovered from a set down to beat James Duckworth 6–7 (3), 6–3, 6–4.
