FA Cup Betting Trends & Stats (2023-24)

Before I share my 4th round FA Cup predictions with you, I want to highlight some of the tournament’s key facts and figures. The list below contains information about top scorers, team rankings, overall titles and more.

  • Stockport County’s Kyle Wootton is the competition’s top scorer with four goals.
  • Blackburn’s Sammie Szmodics and Newport’s Shane McLoughlin each have three goals.
  • Maidstone United are the lowest-ranked team remaining in the FA Cup.
  • The Stones play in the National League South – the sixth tier of English soccer.
  • 15 of the Premier League’s 20 teams will feature in round four.
  • There are five all-Premier League clashes in round four.
  • Manchester City are the defending FA Cup champions.
  • Arsenal (14) and Manchester United (12) have won the most FA Cup titles.

With Stockport County already eliminated, Sammie Szmodics and Shane McLoughlin have the chance to move atop the scoring charts. Szmodics’ Blackburn takes on Wrexham in round four, while McLoughlin’s Newport faces a tricky test against Manchester United.

Maidstone United – the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition – will battle it out with promotion-chasing Ipswich Town for a place in round five. Elsewhere, fans can enjoy five all-Premier League clashes.

Expert 4th Round FA Cup Predictions & Picks

I have decided to focus on three standout clashes for my 4th round FA Cup predictions, and no, they’re not all Premier League matchups.

Few would argue that Tottenham’s showdown with Manchester City is not the biggest clash of the round. Accordingly, I will share my Spurs vs. Man City prediction with you, along with my Chelsea vs. Aston Villa prediction.

My other featured game is the all-Championship affair between Leicester and Birmingham. Can the Blues take down the high-flying boxes? Read on to discover my thoughts.

Chelsea vs. Aston Villa Prediction

Chelsea heads into round four on the back of a huge 6-1 victory over Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup. Mauricio Pochettino’s men crushed their Championship opponents on Tuesday, punching their ticket to the final as a result.

Across all competitions, the Blues have won each of their last seven home games, extending their unbeaten streak at Stamford Bridge to nine matches. Better still, they have kept two clean sheets in their last three, conceding a solitary goal in the process.

Although fourth-placed Aston Villa leads ninth-placed Chelsea by 12 points in the Premier League standings, Unai Emery’s men have been inconsistent on the road in recent times, winning only two of their previous six away games.

With that in mind, I’m backing the Blues to extend their Stamford Bridge winning streak to eight matches on Friday.

Best Bet: Chelsea (+105)

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester City Prediction

Fifth-placed Tottenham trails second-placed Manchester City by just three points in the Premier League table. Granted, the Cityzens have a game in hand, but Ange Postecoglou’s men can take a great deal of confidence from their current position.

It is also worth remembering that Tottenham has enjoyed plenty of success against Man City in recent seasons. Following a 3-3 draw in December, Spurs have lost only three of their last 10 meetings with City across all competitions.

That said, Pep Guardiola’s men enter round four in excellent form, having won each of their previous six matches. With Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland back in action, the reigning champs will be confident of defending their crown.

Leicester City vs. Birmingham City Prediction

The last of my 4th round FA Cup predictions concerns the all-Championship clash between Leicester City and Birmingham City.

Boasting a seven-point lead at the summit of the second-tier standings, the Foxes are on course to secure promotion to the Premier League. Enzo Maresca’s men have won 21 of their 28 league games this season, suffering just four defeats for good measure.

At the opposite end of the standings, Birmingham occupies 20th place and trails Leicester by 34 points. That said, the Blues have improved since Tony Mowbray replaced Wayne Rooney, with two wins and two draws coming in their past four outings.

Naturally, the bookies expect Leicester to make light work of Birmingham, but the Blues will fancy their chances of upsetting the odds.
