The Formula 1 action returns this weekend, meaning it’s time to lock in your 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix picks.

On Sunday, July 9, the Hungaroring will stage the 11th race of the F1 season. Having already claimed eight victories this year, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen is in pole position to extend his winning streak to seven races.

You can find my Hungarian Grand Prix picks and predictions a little later. First, let’s relive the British Grand Prix, check out the World Drivers’ Championship standings and assess the Hungarian Grand Prix odds.

What Happened in the Previous Race?

Even if you’ve followed Formula 1 from a distance this year, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that Max Verstappen won the British Grand Prix a fortnight ago.

I mean, the reigning world champion picked up his sixth successive race victory last time out, finishing ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris in second place and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton in third.

Not only has Verstappen won each of the previous six races, but he has also won eight of the 10 races this season. Consequently, the 25-year-old is already 99 points clear at the summit of the World Drivers’ Championship. Did you catch my British Grand Prix 2023 picks? Take a look.

2023 WORLD DRIVERS’ CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS (TOP 5)

  1. Max Verstappen, Red Bull (255 Points)
  2. Sergio Perez, Red Bull (156 Points)
  3. Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin (137 Points)
  4. Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes (121 Points)
  5. Carlos Sainz, Ferrari (83 Points)

Mercedes’ George Russell (82), Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (74), Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll (44), McLaren’s Lando Norris (42) and Alpine’s Esteban Ocon (31) complete the top 10.

Hungarian Grand Prix 2023 Winner Odds

Before you make your Hungarian Grand Prix picks, be sure to analyze the odds. Naturally, Verstappen is favored to triumph once again this weekend, but you can always find value if you explore the array of Formula 1 betting markets.

  • Max Verstappen (-280)
  • Sergio Perez (+1200)
  • Fernando Alonso (+1200)
  • Lewis Hamilton (+1400)
  • Lando Norris (+1600)
  • Charles Leclerc (+2000)
  • Carlos Sainz (+2800)
  • Geroge Russell (+2800)
  • Oscar Piastri (+10000)
  • Esteban Ocon (+15000)
  • Pierre Gasly (+15000)
  • Lance Stroll (+15000)
  • Daniel Ricciardo (+25000)
  • Valtteri Bottas (+50000)
  • Guanyu Zhou (+50000)
  • Kevin Magnussen (+50000)
  • Nico Hulkenberg (+50000)
  • Yuki Tsunoda (+50000)

As you can see, Verstappen is the bookies’ clear favorite to win the 2023 Hungarian GP. The Red Bull superstar is priced at -280 to take the checkered flag on Sunday, while his nearest rivals – Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso – are priced at +1200.

Lewis Hamilton (+1400) and Lando Norris (+1600) are the only other drivers with odds lower than +2000, while the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc (+2000) and Carlos Sainz (+2800) joint Mercedes’ George Russell (+2800) among the hopeful outsiders.

The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed that Daniel Ricciardo (+25000) is back on the Formula 1 odds list for the first time this season. That’s because the Australian has replaced Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri for the remainder of the campaign.

Are you ready for my 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix picks? Let’s get this show on the road!

2023 Hungarian Grand Prix Picks – Race Winner

Every bettor making Hungarian Grand Prix picks will likely start with the race winner market. Of course, Verstappen’s short price of -280 is nothing to write home about, but it still presents decent value – especially when you consider his recent dominance.

That said, Formula 1 can be a very unpredictable sport. Crashes happen, mechanical failures occur, and adverse weather conditions can have a big impact on a race. Yes, Verstappen is the clear favorite for a reason, but there are other candidates with hugely attractive odds.

Best Bet: LOG IN TO ACCESS PICK

Betting on the Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying

Verstappen has been the fastest qualifier on each of the past five Grand Prix weekends. When you look at the bigger picture, the runaway leader has claimed pole position in seven of the 10 races in 2023.

Accordingly, I’m backing Verstappen to start at the front of the grid for the sixth consecutive race this weekend. Since the Dutchman has dominated qualifying in recent months, odds of -200 are pretty generous.

Best Bet: Max Verstappen (-200)

Hungarian Grand Prix Picks – Podium Finish

Hamilton managed to achieve just one podium across the opening six races this season. But the seven-time world champion has rediscovered his mojo in recent weeks, recording one P2 and two P3 finishes in the previous four races.

After finishing second in Spain, Hamilton finished third in Canada before returning to the podium on home soil last time out. For that reason, I can see the Brit notching another top-three finish this weekend.

Best Bet: Lewis Hamilton (+120)

Betting on the Top 6 in the Hungarian GP

Following a disappointing start to the season, Norris and McLaren appear to be heading in the right direction. In fact, Norris heads into the Hungarian GP on the back of successive top-four finishes, highlighting his upturn.

After finishing fourth in Austria, the 23-year-old Englishman secured a mightily impressive P2 finish at the British GP, making the podium for the first time this year. As a result, odds of -200 for Norris to finish in the top six this weekend are worth taking advantage of.

Best Bet: Lando Norris (-200)
