Looking for the best Australian Open 4th round picks and predictions? The SportsHub tennis experts have got you covered.

The 2024 Aussie Open is in full swing, and we have already seen plenty of big-name players exit the tournament during the early rounds. If recent days are anything to go by, round four will serve up even more surprises.

Let’s start by assessing the lay of the land in the men’s and women’s singles events. After that, I will share my Australian Open 4th round picks with you.

Latest Australian Open News & Updates

The top seeds are dropping like flies in the women’s singles event! Believe it or not, five of the top eight seeds have already been eliminated, with Elena Rybakina (#3), Jessica Pegula (#5), Ons Jabeur (#6), Marketa Vondrousova (#7) and Maria Sakkari (#8) all falling before round three.

On a brighter note, Aryna Sabalenka (#2) and Coco Gauff (#4) have booked their place in round four. Both players feature in my Australian Open 4th round picks, and Iga Swiatek (#1) is expected to join them.

Four unseeded players – Amanda Anisimova, Mirra Andreeva, Magdalena Frech and Marta Kostyuk – have also punched their ticket to round four.

In the men’s singles event, the highest seed to be eliminated is Holger Rune (#8). Francis Tiafoe (#17) and Nicolas Jarry (#18) have also exited the tournament, although Rune’s exit is undoubtedly the highest-profile failure so far.

Jannik Sinner (#4) has advanced to round four, along with Stefanos Tsitsipas (#7) and Taylor Fritz (#12), who will face each other. Meanwhile, Sinner will battle it out with Karen Khachanov (#15) for a place in the quarterfinals.

Novak Djokovic (#1), Carlos Alcaraz (#2) and Daniil Medvedev (#3) are all expected to reach the next round. Due to the fast-paced nature of the AO schedule, the top three seeds do not feature in my Australian Open 4th round picks.

Best 2024 Australian Open 4th Round Picks

Round four is set to get underway on Sunday, January 21, although fans in North America will be able to watch some of the matches on Monday, January 22, due to the time difference.

The high-profile clash between Tsitsipas and Fritz is undoubtedly the standout match in the men’s singles event. Both players find themselves in the top 12 of the ATP Rankings, so we should be treated to a thrilling encounter.

I will begin my Australian Open 4th round picks by analyzing Fritz vs. Tsitsipas. After that, I will reveal the rest of my Australian Open predictions for round four.

Taylor Fritz vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction

Odds: Taylor Fritz (+140) / Stefanos Tsitsipas (-182)

It would not be unfair to say that Fritz has experienced a rocky ride to round four. After being taken to five sets in round one, the American defeated Hugo Gaston before losing the first set of his round three match against Fabian Marozsan.

Granted, Tsitsipas required four sets to get past his first two opponents, but he thrashed Luca Van Assche 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 last time out. As a result, the 25-year-old Greek looks in good form ahead of round four.

It is also worth remembering that Tsitsipas reached the final of last year’s Australian Open, getting past the AO quarterfinals for the fourth time in five years. Since Fritz has never made it past the quarterfinals in a major tournament, I expect Tsitsipas’ experience to shine through.

Best Bet: Stefanos Tsitsipas (-182)

Jannik Sinner vs. Karen Khachanov Prediction

Odds: Jannik Sinner (-1000) / Karen Khachanov (+600)

As the moneyline odds suggest, Sinner should make light work of Khachanov. The #4 seed is priced at -1000 to reach the quarterfinals, while the #15 seed is priced at +600 to advance.

That said, Sinner has only reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open on one occasion. By contrast, Khachanov made it all the way to the semifinals last year before reaching the quarterfinals of the French Open.

In my eyes, the odds for this matchup are somewhat skewed. Yes, Sinner is the higher-ranked player, but Khachanov has more than enough ability to get the better of the Italian.

Amanda Anisimova vs. Aryna Sabalenka Prediction

Odds: Amanda Anisimova (+450) / Aryna Sabalenka (-650)

2023 was a phenomenal year for Sabalenka. After winning the Australian Open, the 25-year-old reached the semifinals of both the French Open and Wimbledon before losing the US Open final. Pretty impressive, right?

This year, the defending AO champion has cruised into round four without dropping a single set in her first three matches. Following a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of Lesia Tsurenko, Sabalenka is favored to make light work of Anisimova.

It is worth noting, however, that Anisimova has also yet to drop a set in Melbourne. The unseeded American even dispatched Liudmila Samsonova (#13) in round one, so she will fancy her chances of upsetting the odds once again.

Magdalena Frech vs. Coco Gauff Prediction

Odds: Magdalena Frech (+1100) / Coco Gauff (-3300)

Coco Gauff is another player with a perfect record at this year’s Australian Open. The Floridian teenager heads into round four on the back of three consecutive straight-sets victories, making her the clear favorite in this matchup.

Meanwhile, Frech produced an impressive display to see off Caroline Garcia (#16) in round two, but she was made to work for her place in round four, dropping 13 games against Anastasia Zakharova before finally prevailing.

All the signs point towards a comfortable win for Gauff, but you’d be foolish to write off Frech altogether. Sign in to access the rest of my Australian Open 4th round picks.
