Mboko Rallies to Reach Hong Kong Quarterfinals
Third-seeded Canadian Victoria Mboko stormed back from a 4-1 deficit in the deciding set to defeat Alexandra Eala of the Philippines 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday and advance to the Hong Kong Tennis Open quarterfinals.
Mboko delivered eight aces to offset nine double faults and saved six of 10 break points in the two-hour, 27-minute match. The 18-year-old will next face No. 6 seed Anna Kalinskaya of Russia, who dominated Shuai Zhang 6-1, 6-1 in just 51 minutes.
Top seed Belinda Bencic continued her strong run with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win over China’s Yafan Wang, while Japan’s Himeno Sakatsume cruised past hometown hopeful Eudice Chong 6-2, 6-1 to complete the day’s quarterfinal lineup.

Parks Advances After Unusual Comeback at Jiangxi Open
No. 3 seed Alycia Parks of the United States rebounded from a lopsided opening set to beat Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 in Jiujiang, China, advancing to the Jiangxi Open quarterfinals.
Despite 11 double faults, Parks broke serve six times and needed just 98 minutes to complete the turnaround. She’ll next face Anna Blinkova of Russia, who ousted No. 6 seed Anna Bondar 7-6 (3), 7-5.
Elsewhere, unseeded Czech Dominika Salkova pulled off an upset of No. 8 seed Anastasia Zakharova, prevailing 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-2, while China’s Zhuoxuan Bai overcame Hanyu Guo 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 in a hard-fought two-hour, 17-minute match.
