This week I will be investigating Week 5 NFL futures and analyzing how prices have changed. Welcome back to my weekly NFL futures report. Have you placed any NFL futures bets yet? Perhaps you will after reading this.

How have futures odds changed for the likes of Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars after their fantastic 25-20 victory over the Buffalo Bills? Could Brock Purdy go on to win MVP?

These are just some of the questions regarding Week 5 NFL futures. Below I will take you through the updated odds for a number of the top markets.

Week 5 NFL Futures – Top Markets

I will introduce my Week 5 NFL Futures Report by stating the six markets that I have been focusing on since the start of the season. These are the markets:

  • Super Bowl Winner
  • AFC Champions
  • NFC Champions
  • MVP
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year

By examining NFL futures odds each week, I have been able to identify the biggest market movers. Prices change week in week out based on a variety of metrics such as on-field performances and injuries. By keeping track of the prices, it allows bettors to make the most informed decisions when making their picks.

For example, the Cincinnati Bengals were a lot shorter of a price to win the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season. However, after their woeful start, they are now at a much longer price. If you believe that Joe Burrow could lead a revival, it would be a good idea to back them now to get a better price. I’m now ready to get into my Week 5 NFL Futures Report!

Super Bowl Winner

Week 5 NFL futures will open with odds for Super Bowl LVIII winner. Here are the odds after Week 4 action:

  • Kansas City Chiefs (+550)
  • San Francisco 49ers (+550)
  • Buffalo Bills (+700)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (+750)
  • Dallas Cowboys (+900)
  • Miami Dolphins (+1000)
  • Baltimore Ravens (+1400)
  • Detroit Lions (+1800)
  • Cincinnati Bengals (+2800)
  • Cleveland Browns (+2800)

The San Francisco 49ers have leapfrogged the Kansas City Chiefs as favorites to win the Super Bowl. They are currently at 5-0 and took the Dallas Cowboys apart during Week 5. Their consistent performances to start the season makes them strong candidates to lift the Lombardi Trophy come February.

Below you can find the updated Super Bowl winner odds after Week 5:

  • San Francisco 49ers (+350)
  • Kansas City Chiefs (+500)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (+650)
  • Buffalo Bills (+950)
  • Miami Dolphins (+1000)
  • Dallas Cowboys (+1200)
  • Detroit Lions (+1700)
  • Baltimore Ravens (+1800)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars (+2500)
  • Cleveland Browns (+2800)

The Jaguars have re-entered the top ten to win the Super Bowl after their superb triumph over the Bills in London, whilst Buffalo have gotten longer as a result. The Cowboys are also longer in price now after their 42-10 defeat in Santa Clara.

AFC Champions

Next up is the odds for the AFC champion. Here are the prices for the top five contenders after Week 4:

  • Kansas City Chiefs (+280)
  • Buffalo Bills (+380)
  • Baltimore Ravens (+600)
  • Miami Dolphins (+650)
  • Los Angeles Chargers (+1300)

The Chiefs remain the most likely team in the AFC to win the conference. They have won their last five consecutive games, including Thursday Night Football’s victory over the Denver Broncos.

Check out the updated odds after Week 5:

  • Kansas City Chiefs (+225)
  • Miami Dolphins (+470)
  • Buffalo Bills (+475)
  • Baltimore Ravens (+850)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars (+1200)

It’s neck and neck between the Bills and the Miami Dolphins as the second favorite to win the conference. The Dolphins bounced back from their Week 4 defeat against the Bills in Week 5 with a victory over the New York Giants.

NFC Champions

Let’s take a look now at how the prices have changed for the NFC champion. Here are the prices for the top five candidates after Week 4:

  • San Francisco 49ers (+220)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (+300)
  • Dallas Cowboys (+450)
  • Detroit Lions (+850)
  • Seattle Seahawks (+1800)

The 49ers’ price continues to come in, as expected. Kyle Shanahan’s team is filled with elite superstars on both sides of the ball. As long as they are able to avoid injuries, it would be extremely surprising if they didn’t win the NFC.

Below you can find the updated odds after Week 5:

  • San Francisco 49ers (+160)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (+290)
  • Dallas Cowboys (+600)
  • Detroit Lions (+700)
  • New Orleans Saints (+1800)

The Philadelphia Eagles may have something to say about it, though, after they defeated the 49ers in the NFC Championship last term. They are the team most likely to challenge San Francisco, with the Cowboys looking a level below.

Despite the Eagles not quite looking as good as they did last season, they still sit at 5-0. They have some huge games coming up against the likes of the Dolphins, the Cowboys, the Chiefs, the Bills and the 49ers.

MVP

It’s time to move on now to players’ markets for Week 5 NFL futures. As always, I will start by looking at the odds for MVP. Check out the odds for the top ten candidates after Week 4 here:

  • Josh Allen (+350) QB Buffalo Bills
  • Patrick Mahomes (+500) QB Kansas City Chiefs
  • Tua Tagovailoa (+500) QB Miami Dolphins
  • Jalen Hurts (+800) QB Philadelphia Eagles
  • Lamar Jackson (+1200) QB Baltimore Ravens
  • Justin Herbert (+1600) QB Los Angeles Chargers
  • Brock Purdy (+1600) QB San Francisco 49ers
  • Christian McCaffrey (+2000) RB San Francisco 49ers
  • Trevor Lawrence (+2500) QB Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Dak Prescott (+2500) QB Dallas Cowboys

Patrick Mahomes has once again returned to lead the market for the race to win MVP. Josh Allen’s time as favorite has come to an end rather quickly after the Bills loss to the Jags. Tua Tagovailoa remains a strong contender and is showing good consistency, despite throwing two picks against the Giants last week.

How have MVP odds changed? Here are the prices after Week 5:

  • Patrick Mahomes (+350) QB Kansas City Chiefs
  • Tua Tagovailoa (+500) QB Miami Dolphins
  • Brock Purdy (+600) QB San Francisco 49ers
  • Jalen Hurts (+600) QB Philadelphia Eagles
  • Josh Allen (+700) QB Buffalo Bills
  • Justin Herbert (+1600) QB Los Angeles Chargers
  • Lamar Jackson (+2000) QB Baltimore Ravens
  • Christian McCaffrey (+2000) RB San Francisco 49ers
  • Trevor Lawrence (+2000) QB Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Jared Goff (+2500) QB Detroit Lions

However, the big mover has seen Purdy’s price cut from +1600 to +600. The 49ers signal caller is doing great things this season and completed 70.8% of his passes against the Cowboys last Sunday, throwing four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Did you know that Purdy to win MVP was one of my NFL bold predictions to start the season? It doesn’t seem too far-fetched now and there’s every chance he could win the award if he continues in the same form. Purdy was priced as long as +2500 before the start of the season.

Offensive Rookie of the Year

Rookie awards are extremely popular markets when it comes to looking at NFL futures. I have been tracking the odds for both Offensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year. Let’s see how rookie prices have changed for Week 5 NFL futures. Take a look at the odds for OROY after Week 4 here:

  • C.J. Stroud (+175) QB Houston Texans
  • Bijan Robinson (+380) RB Atlanta Falcons
  • Puka Nacua (+450) WR Los Angeles Rams
  • Anthony Richardson (+550) QB Indianapolis Colts
  • Devon Achane (+900) RB Miami Dolphins

C.J. Stroud has now moved to minus money to win OROY. The Houston Texans QB is having a stellar rookie season and currently holds an NFL record after making 186 pass attempts without throwing an interception to open his career. Stroud wasn’t even in the top five contenders after Week 1 so is having a magnificent start to now lead the market.

We have had a couple of new contenders enter the top five for OROY. Here are the updated odds after Week 5:

  • C.J. Stroud (-110) QB Houston Texans
  • Puka Nacua (+350) WR Los Angeles Rams
  • Bijan Robinson (+350) RB Atlanta Falcons
  • Jordan Addison (+1800) WR Minnesota Vikings
  • Zay Flowers (+2000) WR Baltimore Ravens

Bijan Robinson and Puka Nacua are also two top candidates. However, the former rushed for just 46 yards from 14 carries last week. Nacua has demonstrated his consistency every week thus far and has now caught two touchdowns in successive weeks as well.

Defensive Rookie of the Year

Finally, I will conclude my Week 5 NFL Futures Report by analyzing the price changes for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Below are the odds for DROY after Week 4:

  • Jalen Carter (-110) DT Philadelphia Eagles
  • Devon Witherspoon (+250) CB Seattle Seahawks
  • Will Anderson Jr. (+900) DE Houston Texans
  • Brian Branch (+900) S Detroit Lions
  • Tuli Tuipulotu (+3000) LB Los Angeles Chargers

Jalen Carter continues to get shorter and shorter in price as each week passes. He was solid once again against the Los Angeles Rams during Week 5 and even managed to sack Matthew Stafford twice. It seems extremely unlikely that anyone will be able to challenge him to win DROY.

There hasn’t been too much change in the DROY market. However, here are the updated odds after Week 5:

  • Jalen Carter (-175) DT Philadelphia Eagles
  • Devon Witherspoon (+300) CB Seattle Seahawks
  • Will Anderson Jr. (+1400) DE Houston Texans
  • Brian Branch (+1400) S Detroit Lions
  • Tuli Tuipulotu (+3000) LB Los Angeles Chargers

The rest of the fellow candidates have gotten longer due to Carter’s superiority. The Seattle Seahawks were on bye last week so Devon Witherspoon didn’t feature. Will Anderson Jr. and Brian Branch have moved from +900 to +1400.
