Purdue 87, Alabama 78

Trey Kaufman-Renn scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds as No. 13 Purdue defeated No. 2 Alabama in West Lafayette, Ind. Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer added 17 points each for Purdue, which shot 49.2 percent from the field and committed just three turnovers.

Alabama’s Labaron Philon led the Crimson Tide with 18 points before fouling out, and Grant Nelson posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Gonzaga 113, UMass Lowell 54

Khalif Battle tallied 21 points, and No. 4 Gonzaga had six players score in double figures in a lopsided win over UMass Lowell. The Bulldogs shot 53.9 percent from the field and dominated from start to finish in Spokane, Wash.

Quinton Mincey paced UMass Lowell with 10 points as the River Hawks shot just 36 percent overall.


Wisconsin 103, Arizona 88

John Tonje erupted for a career-high 41 points, including an impressive 21-for-22 from the free-throw line, as Wisconsin held off No. 9 Arizona in Madison, Wis. Max Klesmit added 13 points for the undefeated Badgers.

Arizona’s Jaden Bradley scored 22 points, but the Wildcats couldn’t overcome a 41-for-47 free-throw disparity in Wisconsin’s favor.


North Carolina 107, American 55

Jalen Washington recorded a career-high 18 points, and the Tar Heels routed American in Chapel Hill, N.C. Elliot Cadeau added 15 points in the first half for No. 10 UNC, while RJ Davis chipped in 13.

American’s Matt Rogers led his team with 15 points, as the Eagles dropped to 0-3 on the road.


Marquette 78, Maryland 74

Kam Jones scored 28 points, and No. 15 Marquette held off Maryland in College Park, Md. Despite shooting just 44.8 percent, the Golden Eagles improved to 4-0.

Maryland’s Ja’Kobi Gillespie and Derik Queen each scored 24 points in the losing effort.


Cincinnati 86, Nicholls State 49

Simas Lukosius and Jizzle James both scored 19 points to lead No. 17 Cincinnati to a dominant victory. Lukosius continued his hot start from beyond the arc, hitting 5 of 7.

Nicholls State was led by Jamal West Jr., who scored 12 points in the loss.


Florida 87, Florida State 74

Walter Clayton Jr. poured in 25 points as No. 20 Florida fended off a second-half surge from rival Florida State. Sam Alexis added 12 points to help the Gators extend their winning streak to four games.

Jamir Watkins led Florida State with 19 points, but the Seminoles couldn’t close the gap after falling behind early.


Texas A&M 78, Ohio State 64

Wade Taylor IV and Manny Obaseki each scored 15 points as No. 23 Texas A&M toppled No. 21 Ohio State in College Station, Texas. The Aggies overcame a poor shooting first half by converting 15 of 18 free throws before halftime.

Bruce Thornton led the Buckeyes with 15 points, but Ohio State’s 21.9 percent first-half shooting proved costly.

Rutgers 98, Monmouth 81

Freshman Ace Bailey dazzled in his debut for No. 24 Rutgers, scoring 17 points with six rebounds in Piscataway, N.J. Dylan Harper added 20 points and six assists to keep Rutgers undefeated.

Monmouth’s Abdi Bashir Jr. lit up from deep with 38 points on 10-for-17 3-point shooting but couldn’t overcome his team’s 0-4 start.
