Nico Hischier ended a 10-game goal drought with his first career hat trick, leading the New Jersey Devils to a 5-2 victory over the Nashville Predators in Newark, N.J. Hischier’s three second-period goals helped the Devils (8-2-0 in their past 10 games) secure their third consecutive win. Erik Haula and Justin Dowling also scored, while Jacob Markstrom stopped 19 of 21 shots in net.

The Predators (2-3-2 in their last seven) got goals from Filip Forsberg and Zachary L’Heureux, with Juuse Saros making 26 saves before being replaced by Scott Wedgewood, who stopped all 15 shots he faced in relief.

The Tampa Bay Lightning scored five goals in the first period en route to an 8-2 thrashing of the Colorado Avalanche. Brayden Schenn’s early third-period goal lifted the St. Louis Blues to a 5-2 win over the slumping New York Rangers. Zack Bolduc scored twice, marking his first multi-goal NHL game, as the Blues secured a win in their first game under new coach Jim Montgomery, hired after being let go by the Bruins.

The Rangers, without Chris Kreider (upper-body injury), got both their goals from Will Cuylle, but the loss marked their third straight defeat after a strong start to the season.

Jack Eichel scored the decisive shootout goal as the Vegas Golden Knights overcame a 3-0 deficit to beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-4. Eichel added a goal and an assist in regulation, while Ilya Samsonov stopped 32 shots and two more in the shootout.

Philadelphia’s Morgan Frost logged a goal and an assist, and Matvei Michkov scored his first NHL goal, but the Flyers fell to 2-2-1 on their homestand.


Capitals Beat Slumping Panthers

Defenseman Jakob Chychrun tallied a goal and two assists, leading the Washington Capitals to a 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers. Lars Eller added two late empty-net goals for Washington, while Logan Thompson made 20 saves to improve to 9-1-1.

Florida, now 1-6-0 in its past seven games, got its lone goal from Niko Mikkola.


Red Wings Stun Islanders Again

Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond scored third-period goals as the Detroit Red Wings rallied for a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders. Moritz Seider and Simon Edvinsson also scored for Detroit, while Alex Lyon made 27 saves.

The Islanders lost for the fourth time in five games, with Anders Lee and Kyle Palmieri finding the back of the net. Semyon Varlamov stopped 17 shots in the defeat.


Sharks Outshine Kings with Third-Period Burst

Rookie Macklin Celebrini scored twice and added an assist as the San Jose Sharks exploded for five third-period goals to defeat the Los Angeles Kings 7-2. Celebrini now has six goals in 12 games.

For Los Angeles, Anze Kopitar and Brandt Clarke scored, but goaltender David Rittich struggled, allowing seven goals on 32 shots.

Senators Snap Skid with Win Over Flames

The Ottawa Senators ended a five-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Calgary Flames. Drake Batherson and Brady Tkachuk each recorded a goal and an assist, while Cole Reinhardt netted his first NHL goal.

The Flames, who saw their four-game win streak snapped, got goals from Jonathan Huberdeau, Yegor Sharangovich, and Mikael Backlund.
