Suzuki’s Overtime Heroics Lift Canadiens Past Capitals

Nick Suzuki scored the game-winning goal with 3:45 left in overtime as the Montreal Canadiens edged the Washington Capitals 3-2. Cole Caufield, continuing his hot streak, scored for the fifth consecutive game and assisted on Suzuki’s fifth game-winning goal of the season. Josh Anderson added a short-handed goal, and rookie Jakub Dobes made 15 saves to secure Montreal’s third straight win.

Washington’s Jakob Chychrun and Lars Eller found the back of the net, with Eller tying the game early in the third period. Logan Thompson replaced Charlie Lindgren in goal after Lindgren exited following a second-period collision. Thompson stopped 18 shots but couldn’t deny Suzuki’s decisive overtime effort.

Kempe’s OT Goal Propels Kings Over Jets

Adrian Kempe scored 1:14 into overtime to lift the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Kempe’s seventh career regular-season overtime goal followed an assist on Alex Turcotte’s second-period tally. Darcy Kuemper stopped 18 shots as the Kings extended their winning streak to five games.

Mark Scheifele scored the lone goal for Winnipeg, which has dropped four of its last five games (1-2-2). Eric Comrie made 21 saves in the loss.


Red Wings Push Streak to Six with Win Over Blackhawks

Alex DeBrincat, Lucas Raymond, and Marco Kasper each had a goal and an assist as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-3 to extend their winning streak to six games. Patrick Kane contributed three assists, and Albert Johansson scored his first NHL goal for Detroit.

Teuvo Teravainen netted two third-period goals for Chicago, while Connor Bedard extended his point streak to nine games with a first-period assist. Petr Mrazek made 23 saves, but the Blackhawks have now lost seven of their last nine games.


Hurricanes Shut Out Canucks Behind Staal and Tokarski

Jordan Staal scored his ninth goal of the season, and Dustin Tokarski needed just 14 saves as the Carolina Hurricanes blanked the Vancouver Canucks 2-0. Andrei Svechnikov added a goal, and Staal also assisted on Svechnikov’s tally as Carolina secured back-to-back wins.

The Canucks, shut out for the third time this season, have now lost four consecutive games. Thatcher Demko stopped 18 shots in a frustrating night for Vancouver’s offense.

Hayton’s Late Goal Gives Utah Comeback Win Over Sharks

Barrett Hayton scored with 1:32 left in regulation to secure a 2-1 victory for the Utah Hockey Club over the San Jose Sharks in Salt Lake City. Nick Schmaltz also scored for Utah, which snapped a two-game skid and earned just its second win in nine games.

Fabian Zetterlund scored San Jose’s lone goal, while Alexandar Georgiev made 24 saves in a losing effort. The Sharks have dropped two straight games and are 2-9-1 in their last 12 outings.
