Blue Jackets 4, Islanders 2

Ivan Provorov and Kirill Marchenko scored the tying and go-ahead goals 74 seconds apart late in the third period as Columbus flipped the game on New York in a heated Metro clash. Cole Sillinger finished it with an empty-netter with 1:06 left, and Jet Greaves made 24 saves as the Blue Jackets recorded their first two-game winning streak since Dec. 1–4.

The Islanders played the final 38-plus minutes without Mathew Barzal after he received a game misconduct for slashing Mason Marchment, a retaliation sequence after Marchment drew two penalties against rookie Matthew Schaefer. Marchenko scored the first of his two goals, Max Shabanov tied it late in the first, and Bo Horvat gave New York the lead in the second. David Rittich (starting again for injured Ilya Sorokin) made 31 saves as the Islanders’ two-game win streak ended. For bettors, this is the kind of “game-state swing” spot that shows up in shot volume, penalties, and late-period momentum—covered in the NHL key-stats handicapping guide.

Lightning 5, Canadiens 4 (SO)

Tampa Bay won its fourth straight by outlasting Montreal in a shootout on the second night of a back-to-back, despite coughing up a 4-1 third-period lead. Gage Goncalves and Brayden Point scored in the shootout, and Jonas Johansson stopped Ivan Demidov and Cole Caufield to seal it.

Nikita Kucherov scored twice for the Lightning, with Nick Paul and Pontus Holmberg also scoring. Juraj Slafkovsky produced two goals and an assist for Montreal, while Demidov and Noah Dobson each had a goal and an assist. Jacob Fowler made 18 saves in the loss.
