Blue Jays Edge Cubs Behind Scherzer, Guerrero

Max Scherzer delivered seven sharp innings, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. provided the deciding blow with a two-run homer as Toronto beat Chicago 2-1 to take the rubber game. Scherzer (3-2) allowed just one run on five hits, walking one and striking out three. Michael Busch tied it in the sixth with his 24th home run, but Scherzer worked out of further trouble before Guerrero’s 20th homer of the season broke the deadlock in the bottom half. Cubs starter Matthew Boyd (11-6) surrendered only two hits but took the loss.
