Basavareddy Makes History at ASB Classic
American teenager Nishesh Basavareddy continued his impressive run at the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over No. 8 seed Alex Michelsen in the quarterfinals. At just 19 years old, Basavareddy became the youngest U.S. male to reach a tour-level hard court semifinal since Reilly Opelka in 2016.
Basavareddy saved five of seven break points in the 1-hour, 42-minute match to set up a semifinal showdown with unseeded Frenchman Gael Monfils.
In the other semifinal, No. 7 seed Nuno Borges of Portugal will take on Belgian qualifier Zizou Bergs. Borges outlasted 19-year-old Jakub Mensik 6-7 (4), 6-2, 7-6 (4), while Bergs rallied from a slow start to beat Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Paul and Auger-Aliassime Advance in Adelaide
Top-seeded Tommy Paul secured a 6-3, 6-4 win over Australian Rinky Hijikata to reach the semifinals of the Adelaide International. Paul dominated with eight aces and saved all four break points during the 79-minute match. He will face No. 5 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, who hammered 11 aces en route to a 7-6 (3), 6-3 victory over Marcos Giron.
No. 2 seed Sebastian Korda advanced with a walkover after hometown favorite Thanasi Kokkinakis withdrew due to a right shoulder injury ahead of the Australian Open. Korda will take on Miomir Kecmanovic in the semifinals following the Serbian’s efficient 6-2, 6-3 win over France’s Benjamin Bonzi in just 64 minutes.
