PGA Tour action continues this fall and next up we have Shriners Children’s Open predictions. The Fall Series resumes this week as we head to Nevada. Can defending champion Tom Kim retain his crown?

Last week, we returned to the PGA Tour with the Sanderson Farms Championship for the second event of the FedEx Cup Fall Series. Were you successful with your picks? Find out how I got on below.

It feels great to be back taking a look at golf again after a short break following the end of the FedEx Cup. Let’s try and find some winners with my Shriners Children’s Open predictions!

2023 Sanderson Farms Championship Results

The Country Club of Jackson served up a treat in the Sanderson Farms Championship last week. A total of five golfers headed into a playoff after they all finished 18-under. That included recent Ryder Cup champion Ludvig Aberg. However, it was Luke List who came away with the victory after holing a 45-foot putt in the playoff to wrap-up his second PGA Tour title of his career.

Unfortunately, none of my Sanderson Farms picks came in last week. I had Adam Svensson and Stephan Jaeger to win the tournament but they finished T16 and T25 respectively. Hopefully I can bounce back this week with my Shriners Children’s Open predictions.

To gain access to all of my picks for the Shriners Children’s Open, head on over to my handicapper page, Ashlee Kiddell. I also provide a ton of soccer picks too, including club and international matches.

2023 Shriners Children’s Open Preview

When: Thursday, October 12th – Sunday, October 15th, 2023

Where: TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada

TV: Golf Channel / ESPN+ / Peacock

Field: 132 Golfers

Purse: $8,400,000 (Winner gets $1,512,000)

Similarly to last week’s tournament at Sanderson Farms, we could see a host of low scores in Vegas. That is due to the ranking of TPC Summerlin, which is considered one of the easier courses on the PGA Tour.

Female golfer Lexi Thompson will also be teeing off at the Shriners Open this weekend. She will become just the seventh woman to feature on the PGA Tour. Only one female golfer has made the cut when playing on the PGA Tour before and so Thompson will be dreaming of doing so in Vegas.

Tom Kim (+900) is the reigning champion at the Shriners Children’s Open after the South Korean finished 24-under in 2022, equalling the tournament record. He is the current favorite to succeed again in 2023 and will be a popular selection for Shriners Children’s Open predictions.

TPC Summerlin Course Information

Par: 71 / Yards: 7,255

Greens: Bentgrass / Fairways: Bermudagrass

Par 3s: 4 / Par 4s: 10 / Par 5s: 4

TPC Summerlin is considered one of the easier courses on the PGA Tour and is ranked inside the top ten based on that metric. However, Golf Digest named it as “One of America’s Best Golf Courses.” It was designed by Bobby Weed, with Fuzzy Zoeller playing the role as consultant.

Golfers will be expected to hit the ball much longer here due to the thinner Las Vegas air. Therefore, approach play will be incredibly important. Those that are expected to compete for the victory will need to perform well on and around the green.

Expert Shriners Children’s Open Predictions for 2023

Tom Kim and Ludvig Aberg are the clear favorites to win the tournament here. The former has been in a great form of late and will be looking for back-to-back victories in Vegas. Kim finished T6 at Cazoo Open de France last month too.

Ryder Cup champion Aberg (+950) was a popular choice to fade at Sanderson Farms Championship, with most citing a hangover from his trip to Europe as the reason. Despite the Swede failing to win the tournament, he finished T2, shooting 18-under as he entered the playoff. He proved last week that Ryder Cup celebrations haven’t affected him and so he is one of the favorites to win here.

Tom Hoge (+2800) is an interesting choice. He finished T13 at Sanderson Farms last week, shooting 13-under and finished T4 at the 2022 Shriners Open. Not only has he had proven success at Summerlin before but he looks in decent shape heading into this one too. However, with stronger golfers in the field, he may not offer the best value, especially since his price has come in and is now at +2800.

J.T. Poston (+2500) is one of the top five candidates to win here, based on the odds, and he will look to carry on his good form after having some time off. He finished as runner-up at the 3M Open, before securing a T7 finish at the Wyndham Championship over the summer.

Top Contenders to Win the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open

Tom Kim (+900) currently leads the market as the favorite to triumph this weekend. Kim won at TPC Summerlin in 2022 and has been performing well in terms of approach play and putting of late. Both of these skills will help him at the Shriners Open. He has had seven consecutive top-25 finishes so enters this one in excellent form too.

As for Aberg, there are still considerations about how he can keep up his form. A return from the Ryder Cup, followed by another top performance at Sanderson Farms, may have completely drained what was left in the tank. Nevertheless, that’s what people thought before last week’s tournament and Aberg will be a popular choice for Shriners Children’s Open predictions.

With South Koreans winning the Shriners Children’s Open on each of the last two occasions, Si Woo Kim is another well-liked choice. He is priced at +1800 and is currently the third favorite to win the tournament. He finished T8 in last year’s edition of the tournament as he became the fourth South Korean that year to secure a top-ten finish.

Longshots to Win the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open

A couple of strong performers at last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship are considered longshots for Shriners Children’s Open predictions. The winner, Luke List, is priced at +5000, whilst Ben Griffin is also at +5000, who featured in the playoff.

However, neither of them are expected to be the top contenders here. That also follows the trend for Mark Hubbard (+5000) who finished T6 and shot 17-under. Hubbard looked excellent in his approach play last week but, ultimately, it was his putter that let him down.

My selection of Emiliano Grillo let me down last week as I had him as one of my picks to win the tournament. He failed to make the cut and so I will be avoiding him this week. The Argentine is priced at +4500 to win the Shriners Open.

Although my Svensson pick also failed to land, he had a much more encouraging display at Sanderson Farms after finishing T16. His strong ball-striking ability could help him here too and he has the putting skills to succeed in Vegas. The Canadian is currently priced at +4500.

2023 Shriners Children’s Open Predictions – Outright Winner

As always, I have selected a total of three winners to go on and win the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open. Despite failing to land a selection for the Sanderson Farms Championship last week, I had been on a good run of form in my golf picks before that.

Hopefully I will be able to return to form with my Shriners Children’s Open predictions. To gain access to my picks, you will need to sign in to Sports Hub. Check out my Ashlee Kiddell handicapper page to view all of my selections.

2023 Shriners Children’s Open Picks – Top 5 Finish

Shriners Children’s Open predictions will also come in the form of golfers to secure a top 5 finish. If none of my outright winners end up landing, the hope is that one of my top 5 selections is able to come in.

I have found two picks I like for a top 5 finish in the form of Svensson and Poston. Svensson’s price offers good value and he looked solid last week at Sanderson Farms. The hope is his ability with the Flat Stick should do him well in Vegas.

Poston is an excellent golfer and has competed amongst the best at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and BMW Championship. I am backing him for a top 5 finish on his return here.

Best Bet: Adam Svensson (+800) & J.T. Poston (+525)
