Medvedev Ends His Title Drought in Almaty
Former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev of Russia lifted his first ATP trophy since May 2023, defeating France’s Corentin Moutet 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in the Almaty Open final in Kazakhstan.
The second-seeded Medvedev, 29, secured his 21st tour title, each coming at a different event. With the victory, he climbed three spots to No. 12 in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin, just 875 points behind Lorenzo Musetti for the last qualification berth.
The two-hour, 29-minute clash showcased Medvedev’s balance between aggression and control. He fired eight aces, overcame five double faults, and broke Moutet late in the final set to close out the championship. Moutet, seeking his first ATP crown, showed composure after forcing a decider but couldn’t sustain momentum at 4-3 in the final set.
Ruud Rolls to Victory at the Nordic Open
Casper Ruud of Norway dominated in Stockholm, capturing a 6-2, 6-3 win over Frenchman Ugo Humbert to earn his 14th ATP title. The No. 2 seed dropped just three points on serve and struck 19 winners in a near-flawless 68-minute final.
Ruud became the first Norwegian to win the event and now sits 11th in the ATP Live Race To Turin, 740 points behind Musetti. Humbert advanced after the retirement of top seed Holger Rune, who later confirmed a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Auger-Aliassime Prevails in Brussels
In Brussels, Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime fought past Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic 7-6 (2), 6-7 (6), 6-2 to win the European Open. The intense two-hour, 34-minute duel featured aggressive serving and narrow margins on every point.
Auger-Aliassime, 25, produced 17 aces, saved all three break points, and landed 83 percent of his first serves. The victory marked his third ATP crown of the season and moved him up to ninth in the Live Race To Turin, 330 points shy of Musetti. Lehecka battled hard, denying two match points in the second-set tiebreak, but couldn’t recover in the final set.
