A busy Wednesday slate produced high save totals, third-period swings and extended scoring runs. Several teams leaned on depth, while others turned to rookie goaltenders in tight finishes. Bettors monitored pace and shot volume across the board through Odds & Scores as late goals shaped multiple outcomes.

Wild 4, Hurricanes 3 (SO)

Jesper Wallstedt delivered one of the top goaltending performances of the season, stopping 42 shots through regulation and overtime before denying all three attempts in the shootout.
Matt Boldy scored once in regulation and recorded the lone shootout goal. Mats Zuccarello posted a goal and an assist, and Brock Faber added one. Wallstedt stopped Jackson Blake on a breakaway late in overtime and made two highlight saves in the shootout.
Blake scored twice for Carolina, which moved to 2-0-2 in its last four. Sebastian Aho also scored. Frederik Andersen allowed three goals on 18 shots. A capper noted Minnesota’s tightening defensive metrics before puck drop, matching trends discussed in the Bettors Handbook.

Flames 6, Sabres 2

Joel Farabee scored twice, and Rasmus Andersson added a goal and two assists as Calgary closed with four unanswered goals.
Morgan Frost and Matt Coronato each had a goal and an assist. Yegor Sharangovich, Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri all added two assists. Devin Cooley made 28 saves for his first win of the season and first NHL victory since April 2024.
Mattias Samuelsson had a goal and an assist for Buffalo. Tage Thompson scored as well. Colten Ellis stopped 29 shots as the Sabres’ two-game winning streak ended.

Capitals 7, Oilers 4

Rookie Ryan Leonard recorded his first career two-goal game. Alex Ovechkin scored No. 904 as Washington improved to 9-4-2 in its history against Edmonton with Connor McDavid in the lineup.
Aliaksei Protas and Anthony Beauvillier also scored, while Tom Wilson capped the night with two empty-net goals. Connor McMichael and John Carlson each had three assists. Logan Thompson made 26 saves.
Darnell Nurse scored twice in the first period for Edmonton. David Tomasek and Leon Draisaitl scored in the third. McDavid produced two assists. Stuart Skinner made 14 saves. A leaderboard capper flagged Edmonton’s ongoing defensive volatility, matching notes raised earlier on the Handicappers board.

Ducks 4, Bruins 3

Ian Moore scored the go-ahead goal with 3:35 left as Anaheim held off Boston after losing two separate leads.
The Ducks led 2–0 and 3–1 before the Bruins tied it on Morgan Geekie’s second goal at 7:39 of the third. Moore then stepped into a high-slot slap shot that deflected in for the winner.
Lukas Dostal stopped 36 shots to anchor Anaheim’s performance.
