Saturday delivered one of the most varied NHL slates of the season. Several contenders needed overtime. Others won behind shutouts or dominant forechecks. A few teams continued long streaks — both good and bad. Ottawa escaped in overtime despite only 13 shots. The Islanders handed the Rangers a historic home struggle. New Jersey stayed perfect at home. Dallas rallied late. Montreal extended its point streak. Carolina rolled behind balanced scoring. Colorado overwhelmed Edmonton, while San Jose won its third straight. Senators 3, Flyers 2 (OT)

Tim Stutzle scored his second goal of the game 3:19 into overtime on a setup from Drake Batherson. Ottawa registered just 13 shots but capitalized on its final chance.

Michael Amadio added a goal. Linus Ullmark made 20 saves.

Jamie Drysdale and Matvei Michkov scored for Philadelphia. Samuel Ersson stopped 10 shots.

Islanders 5, Rangers 0

Bo Horvat scored twice and the Islanders shut out the Rangers, who remained winless at home. Jonathan Drouin scored and assisted. Jean-Gabriel Pageau added an empty-netter. Anders Lee scored late.

The Rangers dropped to 0-6-1 at home, the worst home start in franchise history.

Devils 2, Penguins 1 (SO)

Paul Cotter netted the winning shootout goal. Arseny Gritsuk scored in regulation. Jake Allen made 33 saves as New Jersey stayed perfect at home at 7–0–0.

Ryan Graves scored for Pittsburgh. Arturs Silovs stopped 23 shots.

Stars 5, Predators 4

Dallas scored twice in under a minute in the third and held on. Mavrik Bourque produced a goal and an assist. Roope Hintz, Justin Hryckowian, Adam Erne and Sam Steel also scored. Justus Annunen made 17 saves.

Nicolas Hague had a goal and an assist for Nashville. Luke Evangelista, Filip Forsberg and Steven Stamkos also scored.

Bruins 5, Maple Leafs 3

Morgan Geekie collected a goal and an assist as Boston won its sixth straight. Viktor Arvidsson, Michael Eyssimont, David Pastrnak and Fraser Minten all scored. Jeremy Swayman made 30 saves.

Nicholas Robertson, Matias Maccelli and John Tavares scored for Toronto.

Kraken 4, Blues 3 (OT)

Shane Wright scored the overtime winner. Chandler Stephenson tied the game with two seconds left. Eeli Tolvanen had a goal and two assists. Ryker Evans added a goal and a helper.

Jordan Kyrou, Dylan Holloway and Dalibor Dvorsky scored for St. Louis.

Canadiens 6, Mammoth 2

Cole Caufield scored twice as Montreal tallied five unanswered. Oliver Kapanen and Alex Newhook added a goal and assist each. Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach added insurance. Sam Montembeault stopped 25 shots.

Kailer Yamamoto and Lawson Crouse scored for Utah.

Hurricanes 6, Sabres 3

Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Charles-Alexis Legault each had a goal and assist. Eric Robinson scored in his return. Pyotr Kochetkov made 19 saves.

Owen Power, Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson scored for Buffalo.

Sharks 3, Panthers 1

Yaroslav Askarov made 38 saves as San Jose earned its third straight win. Macklin Celebrini scored his 10th of the season and added his 24th point, the most among rookies. Adam Gaudette and Alexander Wennberg added goals.

Brad Marchand scored for Florida.

Ducks 4, Golden Knights 3 (OT)

Jacob Trouba scored the overtime winner as Anaheim extended its dominance over Vegas. Leo Carlsson had two goals and an assist to stretch his point streak to nine games. Petr Mrazek made 36 saves.

Brett Howden, Pavel Dorofeyev and Kaeden Korczak scored for Vegas.

Canucks 4, Blue Jackets 3

Brock Boeser scored the winner with 5:45 left. Drew O’Connor had a goal and assist. Jake DeBrusk and Conor Garland also scored. Kevin Lankinen made 29 saves.

Kirill Marchenko had two goals and an assist for Columbus.
