Ezequiel Tovar carried the Colorado Rockies to a dramatic 4-3 walk-off win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Denver. Tovar doubled in the ninth and scored on Warming Bernabel’s single to center, ending a 10-game skid against L.A. Tovar also homered earlier, while Victor Vodnik (4-3) threw a perfect ninth for the win.

For the Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman each had two hits, but Justin Wrobleski (4-5) was tagged with the loss after surrendering the game-ending hit. The setback spoiled L.A.’s momentum after sweeping San Diego.

Freddy Peralta was untouchable again, tossing six innings of one-hit ball as the Milwaukee Brewers shut down the Chicago Cubs 7-0 in the opener of a doubleheader. The nightcap was postponed due to rain.

Peralta (15-5) struck out six and extended his win streak to three, marking his best season to date. The Cubs had hoped to ride Cade Horton (7-4), but the young starter exited in the third inning with a blister issue after giving up early damage.

Alec Burleson’s go-ahead RBI single in the seventh sparked the St. Louis Cardinals to an 8-3 win over the Miami Marlins. Burleson finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Matt Svanson (2-0) delivered two scoreless innings in relief.

Miami was plagued by defensive errors, committing two that led to three unearned runs. Starter Eury Perez had a nightmare outing, setting a franchise record with four wild pitches in 4 1/3 innings.

Pirates 5, Blue Jays 2

The Pittsburgh Pirates used small-ball execution and Toronto errors to grab a 5-2 win. Henry Davis doubled in the seventh and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. Bryan Reynolds and Alexander Canario added RBIs as the Pirates ended a two-game slide.

Blue Jays starter Yariel Rodriguez (2-1) left the game in the seventh, but reliever Brendon Little immediately allowed the costly run. Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. provided Toronto’s lone RBIs.
