Guardians Snap Skid With Gritty Win Over Astros

Brayan Rocchio’s clutch, two-out, two-run double into the left field corner broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning and powered the Cleveland Guardians to a much-needed 7-5 win over the Houston Astros, snapping a 10-game losing streak. Rocchio’s go-ahead knock came after producing two sacrifice bunts earlier in the game and sparked a rally that Cleveland’s bullpen protected down the stretch.

Houston clawed back from a four-run deficit with home runs from Taylor Trammell and Isaac Paredes in the fifth, then narrowed the gap again on Victor Caratini’s solo homer in the sixth. But the Guardians bullpen held firm, with Emmanuel Clase shutting the door in the ninth for his 19th save.

Vaughn, Peralta Lead Brewers to Rout of Dodgers

Andrew Vaughn made a thunderous debut for Milwaukee, launching a three-run homer in his first at-bat, while Freddy Peralta cruised through six shutout innings to lift the Brewers past the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers 9-1. Christian Yelich also homered as the Brewers dominated from the outset, scoring five runs in the first inning off Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who exited after recording just two outs.

Peralta, Milwaukee’s lone All-Star, struck out seven while giving up just five hits. The Dodgers’ only run came in the eighth, but it was far too late to mount a comeback.

Blue Jays Bash White Sox for Ninth Straight Win

Joey Loperfido and Nathan Lukes hit back-to-back home runs, and Jose Berrios threw six strong innings as the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Chicago White Sox 8-4 for their ninth consecutive win — the franchise’s longest streak since 2015.

After Chicago opened the scoring on a Brooks Baldwin RBI single, the Blue Jays took control with Bo Bichette’s game-tying RBI and a fifth-inning power surge. Loperfido’s first homer of the season gave Toronto the lead, and Lukes followed up with his own blast to extend it.

Tigers Stay Hot, Cruise Past Rays

Colt Keith delivered a big night with a home run and two doubles, Javier Baez added a two-run shot, and the Detroit Tigers rolled past the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1 to win their fourth straight game and maintain their lead in the American League standings.

Called up from Triple-A earlier in the day, Keider Montero impressed with six innings of one-run ball, allowing just four hits. Zach McKinstry also added a solo homer for the Tigers. Tampa Bay’s lone run came on Jonathan Aranda’s RBI single as starter Shane Baz took the loss.

Royals Power Past Pirates Behind Witt Jr., Long Balls

Bobby Witt Jr. crushed a two-run homer and rookie starter Noah Cameron pitched seven strong innings as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-3. Witt finished with three RBIs while the Royals also got solo shots from Vinnie Pasquantino, Salvador Perez, and Nick Loftin.

Cameron delivered a career performance with seven strikeouts and just one walk in a career-high 109-pitch effort. Tommy Pham’s third-inning homer snapped a long scoreless streak for Pittsburgh, who has now lost six straight on the road.

Red Sox Ride Anthony, Bullpen to Win Over Rockies

Roman Anthony hit his first career Fenway Park homer and collected three hits to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 9-3 win over the Colorado Rockies. Richard Fitts notched his first career MLB win with 5 2/3 solid innings, supported by a 14-hit Boston attack that included eighth-inning blasts from Ceddanne Rafaela and Romy Gonzalez.

Austin Gomber took the loss for Colorado, which continues to struggle on the road. Ryan McMahon contributed two hits for the Rockies in defeat.

Marlins Stifle Reds Behind Junk, Ramirez

Janson Junk allowed just one hit over six innings and Agustin Ramirez provided all the offense Miami needed with a double and a home run in a 5-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The Marlins have now won 11 of their last 14 games and continue climbing the National League standings.

Xavier Edwards added three hits for Miami, while the Reds were limited to just three total hits and scored their only run via a sacrifice fly following two walks.

Diamondbacks Outduel Padres, Spoil Machado Milestone

Josh Naylor homered and Zac Gallen struck out nine over six strong innings to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks past the San Diego Padres 6-3. Manny Machado collected his 2,000th career hit and added his 15th home run of the year, but it wasn’t enough as Yu Darvish took the loss in his season debut for the Padres.

Gallen turned in one of his best performances of the season, holding San Diego to just five hits and one unearned run.

Angels Walk Off Rangers in Ninth

Nolan Schanuel worked a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Angels a dramatic 6-5 walk-off win over the Texas Rangers. Schanuel’s patient plate appearance capped a rally that began with Luis Rengifo’s leadoff double.

The Angels’ bullpen held off the Rangers late, despite big nights from Corey Seager (two hits, two RBIs) and Sam Haggerty (two hits, two runs). Travis d’Arnaud added a homer and double for the Angels.

Giants Manufacture Runs, Hold Off Phillies

Matt Chapman had three hits and scored twice, and the San Francisco Giants used small ball to produce all three of their runs in a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. In a tie game in the eighth, San Francisco scored twice without a hit thanks to a pair of infield outs following a hit batsman and a Chapman single.

Bryson Stott doubled for the Phillies’ only extra-base hit of the night. Phillies reliever Orion Kerkering took the loss after a rocky eighth inning.
