Matthew Boyd celebrated his All-Star selection with a dominant performance, striking out nine over five innings as the Cubs trounced the Cardinals 11-0. Boyd (9-3) allowed only three hits and one walk, continuing a stellar season. Kyle Tucker added three RBIs, while Seiya Suzuki contributed a home run and a double. The Cubs have now won eight of their last 11 games, while the Cardinals, now 6.5 games back in the NL Central, continue to spiral.
Astros Complete Sweep Over Dodgers
Jose Altuve went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs as the Astros defeated the Dodgers 5-1 in Los Angeles. Zack Short added a 3-for-3 night, including a double. Houston completed the three-game sweep and improved to 11-2 in their last 13. Dalton Rushing drove in the lone Dodgers run as Los Angeles suffered its first sweep since May.
Judge Powers Yankees Past Mets
Aaron Judge launched his 33rd homer and drove in three as the Yankees halted a six-game losing streak with a 6-4 victory over the Mets. Max Fried (11-2) threw five innings of three-run ball. The Yankees offense tallied 12 hits, including three from Trent Grisham. Zach Pop (0-1) took the loss for the Mets, ending their four-game win streak.
Holliday’s Heroics Lift Orioles to Sweep
Jackson Holliday went 4-for-4 with a home run and Trevor Rogers threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings as the Orioles edged the Braves 2-1. Rogers (2-0) lowered his ERA to 1.57 in the win. Braves starter Grant Holmes allowed two runs in six innings, but Atlanta has now dropped nine of its last 11 games.
Wheeler’s Gem Pushes Phillies Past Reds
Zack Wheeler struck out 12 and threw a complete game one-hitter as the Phillies downed the Reds 3-1. Bryson Stott broke the tie in the eighth with a two-run homer. Wheeler didn’t allow a walk in his ninth win of the season. Chase Burns struck out seven for Cincinnati but got no decision.
Red Sox Complete Sweep in D.C.
Trevor Story homered and Ceddanne Rafaela went deep and collected three hits as the Red Sox beat the Nationals 6-4 to complete a series sweep. Garrett Crochet fanned seven over five innings for the win. Rookie Shinnosuke Ogasawara allowed four runs in his debut for Washington.
Bichette, Gausman Keep Blue Jays Rolling
Bo Bichette hit a solo shot and Kevin Gausman struck out nine over 5 2/3 innings as the Blue Jays edged the Angels 3-2, extending their win streak to eight. Davis Schneider added the go-ahead RBI. Despite a homer from Mike Trout and 12 baserunners, L.A. couldn’t capitalize.
Skubal Dazzles, Tigers Win in Extras
Tarik Skubal struck out 10 over seven scoreless innings and Trey Sweeney hit a 10th-inning homer as the Tigers beat the Guardians 7-2 in extras. Skubal has now dominated four straight divisional starts. Cleveland’s Gavin Williams struck out eight over six shutout frames but watched his bullpen collapse in the 10th.
Moniak, Toglia Spark Rockies Victory
Mickey Moniak missed the cycle by a double and Michael Toglia hit the go-ahead homer as the Rockies defeated the White Sox 6-4 in Denver. Shane Smith, recently named an AL All-Star reserve, gave up five runs in 4 1/3 innings.
Woodruff Returns in Style as Brewers Win
Brandon Woodruff struck out eight and gave up one run in six innings in his first appearance in 652 days, leading the Brewers to a 3-1 win over the Marlins. Jackson Chourio drove in all three Milwaukee runs with a homer and single. Edward Cabrera pitched well in the loss.

Lorenzen, Royals Shut Out D-backs
Michael Lorenzen pitched seven scoreless innings and Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez homered as the Royals beat the Diamondbacks 4-0. It was Lorenzen’s first win since June 8. Arizona was shut out for only the second time all season.
Mariners Blank Pirates Behind Kirby, Arozarena
Randy Arozarena’s homer in the sixth was all the Mariners needed to top the Pirates 1-0. George Kirby threw 6 1/3 shutout innings with nine strikeouts. Paul Skenes also impressed for Pittsburgh, striking out 10 over five innings.
Adames Lifts Giants Over Athletics
Willy Adames hit a three-run homer and Luis Matos added a two-run double as the Giants beat the Athletics 6-2 in Sacramento. San Francisco improved to 5-1 against Oakland this season. Tyler Soderstrom homered for the A’s in the loss.
Diaz, Rays Top Twins in Extras
Yandy Diaz doubled in the go-ahead run in the 10th and Tampa Bay pulled away for a 7-5 win over Minnesota. Jonathan Aranda had three hits and two RBIs, while Junior Caminero also drove in a pair. Harrison Bader tied it for Minnesota with a two-run homer in the eighth.
Tatis, Padres Take Series Over Rangers
Fernando Tatis Jr. reached base four times and drove in the go-ahead run as the Padres beat the Rangers 4-1. Kyle Hart earned the win with 3 2/3 innings of hitless relief. Jack Leiter (4-6) struggled with command in the loss for Texas.
