Top Takeaways

  • Canadiens steal one late in Florida: Montreal scored twice in the final 4:30 of regulation and won in OT. A rare collapse from a solid Panthers team.
  • Flyers = Comeback Kings: Philly earned its league-best 14th comeback win. They just don’t go away.
  • Leafs lock it down: Joseph Woll shut out New Jersey with 33 saves. Toronto limited high-danger chances all night.
  • Penguins cash early and often: Mantha led the charge in a 5-1 rout over Carolina, helped by a soft night from Andersen.
  • Islanders get it done in extras: Bo Horvat played hero with the lone SO tally and a goal in regulation.
  • Canucks leak goals again: Vancouver has now dropped 3 of 4, giving up 18 total goals in that stretch.

Canadiens vs Panthers Recap: Canadiens win 3-2 (OT)

Montreal pulled off a wild comeback with two goals in the final minutes, then finished it off 3:24 into overtime on Nick Suzuki’s second of the game. Sam Montembeault made 28 saves in his return to the crease, including multiple key stops down the stretch.

Florida had full control until late. Brad Marchand and Sam Reinhart scored for the Panthers, but the collapse — capped by Suzuki’s extra-attacker goal with 1:22 left — unraveled a solid 58 minutes of play.

Maple Leafs vs Devils Recap: Maple Leafs win 4-0

Toronto pitched a shutout behind Joseph Woll’s 33-save effort. Bobby McMann and Nicolas Roy each posted a goal and assist as the Maple Leafs played a clean, controlled game throughout.

New Jersey struggled to generate sustained pressure. Jacob Markstrom stopped 26 shots but didn’t get much help. The Devils have now dropped four straight and continue to underperform on the road.

Penguins vs Hurricanes Recap: Penguins win 5-1

Anthony Mantha scored twice and Pittsburgh buried Carolina early. Backed by a solid 27-save outing from Stuart Skinner, the Penguins posted their second straight blowout.

Carolina’s Frederik Andersen gave up five on 28 shots in a rough showing. The Canes’ only goal came from Mark Jankowski, as the offense never got in rhythm.

Islanders vs Blackhawks Recap: Islanders win 3-2 (SO)

Bo Horvat netted the game-winner in the shootout after scoring once in regulation, giving the Islanders their third win in four games. David Rittich was sharp with 17 saves.

Chicago rallied from a 2-0 hole with goals from Teuvo Teravainen and Nick Lardis, but couldn’t close it out. Spencer Knight made 19 saves, but the Blackhawks have now lost 8 of 9.

Flyers vs Canucks Recap: Flyers win 6-3

Carl Grundstrom extended his goal streak to four and Philly poured in six — including three in the third — to take down Vancouver. Matvei Michkov and Trevor Zegras each had two assists.

The Flyers once again came from behind, notching their league-best 14th comeback win. Vancouver’s Thatcher Demko allowed six on 33 shots, while the defense gave up too many rush chances.
