Canadiens 4, Penguins 0

Jacob Fowler made 31 saves for his first career shutout as Montreal shut down Pittsburgh at home. The 21-year-old, recalled from the AHL’s Laval Rocket, set the tone early by denying Kevin Hayes on a breakaway and stayed sharp on a Connor Dewar point-blank tip in the second. If you’re trying to price games like this, the biggest tells often show up in shot quality, special teams, and goalie form—exactly the kind of checklist covered in the NHL key-stats handicapping approach.

Josh Anderson scored twice, with Juraj Slafkovsky and Owen Beck also scoring as the Canadiens improved to 4-1-1 in their last six. Pittsburgh dropped its eighth straight (0-4-4) and was shut out 4-0 for the second game in a row. In stretches like this, it’s also worth revisiting how to treat slumping teams and “live” dogs—this NHL underdogs strategy breakdown is a good sanity check before chasing plus prices.

Rangers 5, Flyers 4 (SO)

Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck scored in the first two shootout rounds as New York rallied past Philadelphia. Igor Shesterkin shut the door in the shootout after helping the Rangers kill two power plays in overtime. Panarin scored New York’s first two goals after missing Thursday with an illness.

Philadelphia’s second period was explosive (four goals), but the Flyers finally took a regulation loss when leading after two, falling to 10-0-1 in that spot. Travis Sanheim and Owen Tippett scored 23 seconds apart, Trevor Zegras added a power-play goal, and Rodrigo Abols chipped in short-handed.
