Jiangxi Open
Second-seeded Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland outlasted Russia’s Elena Pridankina 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 in a grueling two-hour, 42-minute thriller in Jiujiang, China. Golubic saved 24 of 29 break points and converted eight of 16, showing tremendous resilience to book her place in the quarterfinals.
Golubic will face No. 5 Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan, who stormed past China’s Wushuang Zheng 6-2, 6-0 in just over an hour.
