Yankees 9, Tigers 3

Aaron Judge tied Joe DiMaggio for fourth place on the Yankees’ all-time home run list, belting two homers to lead New York over visiting Detroit. Judge’s 361st career blast matched DiMaggio as the Yankees (81-65) avoided a sweep.

Giancarlo Stanton added a homer, while Jazz Chisholm Jr. plated two with a single. Ben Rice, Jose Caballero, Austin Slater, and Cody Bellinger all drove in runs.

The win kept New York within three games of the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays and gave them sole possession of the first wild-card spot over Boston.

Detroit (84-63), still holding an 8.5-game lead in the AL Central, got a homer and RBI single from Dillon Dingler. Starter Tyler Holton (5-5) was tagged by Judge early and never recovered.
